Very good for representing mayflies, large olives and other upwinged flies, especially early season on rivers or any time on reservoirs - great for dapping too.

What a fishing session!
Apologies if the sound goes a bit dodgy in this video as it was lashing down with rain which ended up killing my Rode external mic. Aaaarrrggghhh....
Some really beautiful Brown Trout of all sizes caught in this video - all on the same fly which was a Grey Wulff. It is a perfect fly for fast water or when it is raining as it's so buoyant, especially when Ginked up.

Beautiful fishing...appreciate listening to the birds instead of your typical heavy rock of many a fly fishing vid. Nice guy who transmits the passion of the sport without overacting. I fish in Galicia,a region of NW Spain with a landscape and rivers very similar to Southern UK,and lots of small streams like the one in this vid. So,a real joy to watch. Thanks.
Watching a gentleman fly fish his home stream is a pleasure. The water isn't exactly crystal clear; could there be some agricultural runoff or other source of pollution upstream?
I have practiced that sort of stealth fishing in the southern U. S. I keep an ultralight spinning outfit under the seat of my truck, and if I come upon suitable water, I can be fishing in about 30 seconds. No trout there, of course, unless you count the largemouth bass which some people call green trout.
Great job, sir, and thanks for making the effort to take us along.
I have just started fly fishing to so far having a blast and learning off your videos cheers 👍🏻😃
Fish Lad how you gettin on
I totally agree with some guys taking an age to get ready haha I want to be on that water ASAP! But, I do always wear waders and have a vest with a net, I have lost too many good fish when I haven’t had a net! It takes me five minutes to get my gear on. I do personally think that wearing waders and fishing up stream catches way more fish. Casting down to a trout with a dry often ends in a missed take because you are ripping the fly away from its mouth and not into its mouth. Always approaching fish from the tail works a treat for me, not to mention you have way more room to cast. Just my opinion, but I bloody love these videos!! Especially in the winter months waiting for the trout season to start!! Keep up the good work mate
Enjoyable watch fella you came across well plenty of content 👍🏼 love to see more dry fly 🪰 fishing 🎣 cheers from Northern Ireland were blessed with great rivers 😀
Nice one - you seem to have a nation of lakes and rivers in Northern Ireland.
I'd love to get out fishing more than I do but with work and my garden development.
Good day Richard,
Nice video, thanks for sharing, good fishing, thumbs up and best regards from New Zealand.
Thanks for putting up this video. I really enjoy dry fly fishing on my local river (Bandon River) in Southern Ireland. Looking forward to seeing more fishing videos on your channel.
Very enjoyable to watch, I haven't been fishing for about 10 years but I was getting the rush just watching the strikes.
Top class, im just starting out and found this really helpful, cast short first amd work across is a lovely tip
Remind me a little of a Geordie bear grills 😬 , nice video and looks a lovely location
Good catching! I like to watch a good fly fisherman work a river. Great video! Looking forward to more like this!
Brilliant video-well done-thats why we all fish small streams-thanks for sharing
Excellent video. First noticed you when Andy (Andy’s fishing) came to visit you.
Very enjoyable watch and love the commentary. Gorgeous time of year. Love your philosophy on fishing.
Really loved watching this video......what a top chap :) makes me want to get out on the water.
Great video, just a slight point of order, there is no pupal stage of the mayfly - straight from nymph to winged dun, then finally the winged adult. Keep up the great work!
Love it, I’ve fished the Tees the Esk and the Derwent and this is so evocative of the lovely time I’ve spent there… of you fancy a trip to the Driffield Beck in return that would be great 😀
(my other channel) I can barely get time to fish my own local river and just fit an hour in here and there but thanks for the offer.
Best of luck for the season....not long to wait now.
Great video plus promoting decent fishing instead of expensive gear. Really enjoy your videos PG
Cracking video Richard, that river looks lively with fish,, I will attempt some seatrout fly fishing videos on my channel. All the best. Al..
I started fly fishing in 1971 and my dream has always been to fish in England
Love your style mate. Great rivercraft
Brilliant mate. Iv only recently started fly fishing and Im loving it especially dry fly fishing.
Good stuff Richard.
Fantastic. We loved the video.
I really enjoyed making this one as the last fish was a beast in a tricky place to cast to - pulling a fish out of a place which needs concentrated effort is always a joy.
Superb fishing m8, excellent video, thanks 👍😁
As someone else has pointed out, mayfly do not have a pupal stage. The order Ephemeroptera is, however, unique amongst insects in having two stages of winged adult: the sub-imago (dun) and spinner (imago).
Hi, this is great fly fishing video and great tips. Love the way you used short rod with 2wt. Btw your face just like Richard Harrison american pawn star!. Greeting from Malaysia my friend.
It's very beautiful there. May I ask where *IS* "there"?
my sort of fishing . thanks for shareing
Awesome stuff man!
Great video.👍
That smok would be perfect for detecting in Scotland the midges are a nightmare up here
looking nice in the Ebchester river sir
How funny..follow the fish after you release and it looks to make a beeline right to the rock- crash! Like a cartoon.
Really good video pal!
great vid thumbs up and its the first fishing vid ive seen with you no doubt there are more?? usually watch you metal detecting lol btw the first fish you caught was a little salmon par which is a great sign of a very healthy river system more fly fishing vids please.
Busted out my fly gear after many a year - great vid - im off fishing right now :)
That last fish was a great catch, good to see you out chilling in your little creek, that's much more my style than a man made pond.
Nice one Richard have you put your filter back together yet mate 😂👍keep up the good work nice top 😁👍
Good Stuff!!!!
Very nice and enjoyable thank you for your post, and are you filming all of this yourself?
very nice. ill bet that net feature would be good for face camo when hunting as well.
Beautiful condition the brownies are,do a vid that goes from hooked then pan to plate combined with a wild camping experience 👍

Good fishing video thanks
Thank for doing this video have learnt a lot from this, I have just started out to do fly fishing and live near the river Dane in Congleton Cheshire, I like how you just keep it simple, i just bought my self secondhand rod and real for 20 pound, may I ask what leader do use and I see a lot of tackle very high price maybe am looking in the wrong places, many thanks
Oh, I want one of those... I hate the little bastards! I´m sooo looking forward to go fishing again, and though I do use flies I´ve never attempted a fly fishing rod - guess its time to learn...
Brilliant video mate what’s the rod reel line setup you’ve got ?
you forgot your glasses Richard, safety first xD
They getting bigger and bigger 😂😂
Some. Nice fluff flinging.
Nice video really enjoyed it
this video is what ive been waiting for,, yr fly fishing videos rule! is that reel a hardy flyweight? i have the older english made LRH lightweight and love it, use it on my 7’6” 3 weight bamboo rod and agree with you about the light rods on smaller trout, so fun catching them on the dry fly.
good job man
Am looking for a new rod. I fish the irthing and gelt at brampton. What rod is that you using Richard?
Hi Richard do u recon you can fish this spot in early march
Awesome video just subscribed.
We need an update on your pond filter.
PG...I have been fishing all my life but only a little a summer fishing with a fly rod catching nothing there is a whole different language for fly equipment and casting I would like to learn
Thinking of getting a 7ft 3 weight or should I go with the 2 weight
Says chest waders are nonsense then could of done with a pair by the end lol 😂
Great video and which northumberland river are you fishing cheers rob from county durham
Just started fly fishing been doing it for about 2 weeks not caught anything. Must be doing something wrong ?
Nice vid....how about a pond update :)
For some reason I can't get any audio on this video. Shame, because it looks very interesting.
Effortless, skilled fishing, nice video, no OTT titles and hideous 'music' just good example and expert technique (that cast over the branch - my kind of fishing). Cheers. Any noobs out there might be well advised to wear sunglasses - protect yourself as those flies can come straight back at you. Usually wear chesties, the breathable ones in summer, just gives me more scope and with a super light Alpkit waterproof in the back of a fishing waistcoat, no worries about weather. Or wet wade NZ style in boots and leggings!
I can’t seem to catch any fish on the fly at the minute love the vid tho
Horses for courses....I too like to take my time on a days fishing...do a few casts.....take in the venue.......do a few casts....wander up and down the beat.....do a few casts....take a seat somewhere, listen to the sounds...each to his own.
If you ave anything beyond a couple of hours to go at it then that's 100% the way to go - take it all in.
I don't know if it's my location or settings but there is no sound.
What size rod was that mate
Yeay 😁🙌👏👏
#fishinggood
Wow ..
What camera was this filmed on?
Greta video but I think you should wet your hands before handling fish?
I cant seem to get a bite at the present time on a smaller river near me. Is it to early in year . Im a beginner in fly fishing 🎣
Which club are you in i want to rejoin a club
The way that rod started bending I thought he caught a 20 pound sturgeon.
where was this at?
Where I go for fishing in Llanybydder??
Wish I was as good as you
Nice vedio Richard . Nasir
no net?
does anyone have any tips on where you can fly fish in the north east and north west and also regarding licenses etc?
taking all the slime off the fish, wet hands first, you no better
You kissed😘 a fish 🐟hehe.😄
👍 👍 👍
What is it with fly fisherman touching fish you would think they would know better
Oh S##T! A bit more expensive than expected...
SH!T? lol
I was always taught to WET my hands if I had to take a fish out of the water, Dry hands not good for the fish.
gregor63 he wet them in the grass
nice video but oh no glasses. you only have one pair of eyes
