What a beautiful back story about your dad getting you started on your local rivers casting a fly...so pleased for your PB...well done Andy!...a very emotional, very special moment in your life shared with IB
Brings me back to fishing with my dad, I took up dry fly fishing this year both my parents are elderly now it just helps me cope and keeps memories alive lovely video
This was an awesome episode. I just started fly fishing 2 weeks ago and came across your channel, you two make it look fun even when you mess up, which has made it more fun and less stressful when I mess up. The two of you are such an awesome team and really inspiring. Keep making the videos, I'll keep watching them.
What a brilliant video that was. I love how you guys get to enjoy your fishing together and to see how much that fish meant to you was amazing! A lot of people catch a lot of big fish these days but there's not many that really get it! I was so impressed with your calmness when it first started taking line and then when it went a bit mental you went with it but composed yourself at the end to land it. Well played mate!
@@IBandAndyFishing you will have your work cut out to better that trout in the wild but trying is what its about ,if you ever come over to eire would to love to take you to few of our rivers ye are more than welcome
Well done Andy buddy, amazing fish. Lovely that you had fished the river with your dad. Amazing fish. What was your fly buddy you had on, how long was your leader, did you have more than one fly on.
well done that brown trout was absolutely amazing its always a good feeling to catch a big one and you deserve it well done. its good to watch fly fishing and try and learn more about it ive done it in the past but loose patience in fly fishing beacus im a coarse fisherman but i want to get back in to doing it for pike and anything else. keep up the good work you do on the vids and tight lines
Cheers Scott, really kind! Don't give up on the fly fishing, it'll get there in the end I promise! Hopefully some videos coming up soon which might help 👍👍
Congratulations young man on playing that trout perfectly. After that long run it made I thought for sure you were going to loose it. But you bowed to it at just the right times and did not horse it.
I've not been called young in a while, I could get used to this! I think i was very lucky this time, it was just my day that day, I've lost plenty since!
You have just experienced the exact same feeling when I caught my first ever fish at Linlithgo well done I am proud of you that was a very good brownie and it’s hard to catch brownies anyway
Love the scene. Would love to fish there someday. Only concern was to keep your left hand off the rod above the handle when landing a fish - Don’t want to break a great rod like that!
Have you fished the river dove cuz I’ve fished it and had some nice Grayling and brown trout on maggot cuz I live in stoke on Trent and it’s not to far to go to the river
Well done Andy top class work 👍 that was a proper lean wild trout not like these fat stocked stillwater fish ive seen on YT i couldn't imagine the pull he had on the rod. Hopefully one day i can get to experience such a fish on a fly 🤞 I caught my first fish on a river last year a 4lb chub on cheese paste since then i haven't been back to a pond or lake, i spent nearly everyday last winter fishing for chub and barbel with abit of canal piking too.. Tight lines to the both of you, im loving this channel going back and catching up on all you're videos.. ❤
I don't think anything (and I mean it) beats river fishing. It's the best feeling in the world. Thank you for the kind words I hope you enjoyed the other videos just as much! I.B. xxx
Well done on your pb u cud see u holding back the tiers, lst season I hit my pb & jst b4 the season was over I catched my best amount of trout in 1 day so knw how u felt, now wit health getting bad I haven't been out this season at all but watching u's out fly fishing has giving me that feeling back on how it feels of wat it's like to catch. Thanks luv the videos #tightlines 😎🎣🐟
Huge thanks for the lovely comment and the view, it's very much appreciated! It always sucks when health keeps you away from the water, but keep positive and you'll be back in no time I'm sure!
Very well played.....so easy to panic and lose a fish that good. Amazed that a fish that size deigned to take a fly: unless they're on the Mayfly (danica) those big beasts usually can't be bothered with flies. Next time you better take a defibrillator with you! BTW, was the fly dressed on a barbless hook?
Thanks for the info. I did Scierra rods in the past HM2 in a 4# for the river and 6# for reservoirs, looking for info on details on the rods other than srv range the surge I have heard about
@@IBandAndyFishing Impressive- I caught one of similar size but on 3x and a streamer, and could not afford to finesse him to the net. My reaction was like yours though. Click on my name and check it out!(video is called holy o3)
But how big was it I can't believe you didn't weigh it if your pb wouldn't you weigh it it was a lovely wild brownie I catch a few where I live my biggest wild trout was 4lb and no joke the stream I could of jumped across it literally jump across it 4lb
Andy said in the comments that it measured 24". I recently caught a 24" New Zealand brown and it weighed 5.5lb.So I reckon his brown was anywhere between 5 and 6lb.
TAKE IT HOME AND EAT IT! He probably will not survive another year anyway a smaller fish will grow and fill in the gap that is nature. Fish on our section of California rivers rarely get huge usually when the fish are really big it's when we have had multiple wet years and the big fish survive the warm weather. That's the downside of Sierra streams lots of 40 cm fat trout an occasional 55 cm trout. but in summer the water gets really warm and there is a die off of the bigger fish that cannot take the strain. So when we catch a 60 cm fish we eat that fish because the rivers will never sustain a 65cm fish.

I doubt it was down to luck mate, but I guess we all need the fish gods looking over us sometimes. Love the VLOGS btw, you and Ieva are naturals !

I can understand the euphoria of a personal best catch! I remember the feeling when I caught a 36", 25.5 lb striped bass! Good game!
It makes it nicer when it was the river that you learnt to fish on makes it more special .lovely clip it was good viewing
it really does, I don't mind if I don't catch a bigger one in the UK. It'd be nice though.....

Thanks Matthew, I got lucky that day!
Just catching up with your channel. Fantastic work so far. Quick question, what kind of fly do you use when the trout splash the surface like that?
Thanks Lee! It really depends what is hatching, it could be one of hundreds of different insects, it's important to be able to identify the hatch!
Great Video. Need some help. Looking for a 5# 9' rod in Sierra range for the river fishing all styles and ideas
Thanks Neil! I'd be looking at the Brook 9' 5#, a great allrounder and crazy value for money!

Hi guys, what river are you fishing on? And where abouts on it is this? Many thanks. Keep the videos coming
Hi Nemanja, this is the river Dove, but we don't give any more information about the waters we fish I'm afraid, out of respect for the local anglers

Craking fish Andy well done. What reel did you use on that rod?

what makes a dry rod different from a wet or spider rod
Hi Neil! In this instance we were only rigged with very long light furled leaders which wouldn't have been much use for anything else

Magic.
Thanks Andy, much appreciated!
Dry fly rods?? What does that mean?
Dry Fly rig would maybe have been more accurate. We only had kit/ flies for throwing dries 👍
What did it weigh ???
I'm not really a weigher - it measured 24" so I'd say somewhere around 5lb
I recently caught a 24 inch New Zealand brown, and it weighed 5.5lb.
Well done but the camera did not give it justice really big brown very good job
Did you say that you caught that on 7x?? Great fish, well played sir!
that's right, 7x fluorocarbon, 2.6lb line! I was very, very lucky. a real one in a million fish. So glad to get it on video!
