Ah - so that's why I loved snow globes so much as a kid...
Jane Doe I made one today and I had the same realization myself. I would always wait for all the "snow" to reach the top and the flip it over really fast to see the snow fall down...... (I still do this sometimes but shhh)
That's the first thing I thought as well.
@@BigDaddyTiberius Haha I had that thought too! I still pick them up in gift shops to play with them if I see them.
YES. Damn, now it makes sense. Thank you for making that connection haha.
@@sylphyrin0332 I will get the information o
Here is a list of ingredients in case, like me, you can't write things down fast enough: water, glass jar, tubes of glitter glue, tubes of glitter, spoon or whisk, plastic bottle, clear glue, food colouring, paper plate skewer, superglue and optional glitter duct tape. Haven't tried it yet but don't have glitter glue. Have seen on other videos that they use dishwashing liquid or baby oil. We'll see how we go.
THANK YOU!!!
I shouldn't have to say this, but it happened to me so I feel I should warn those like me: soooooo.... if you made the calming bottle out of, for example - a Lucozade bottle, and feel the need to bring your bottle with you in your bag, and you happen to have (in this case) Lucozade drink with you- also in your bag...... make sure you take a sip out of the right bottle........ glitter looks awesome, but it really doesn't as awesome -___-
+Sakura Faery hahaha oh no I can't even imagine. It does help to glue or tape them shut! You okay? #glitterpoop
Haha.. well I was procrastinating getting superglue to seal the lid... still haven't done it... but I think it would've happened anyway, as you said you can still open it. Tape sounds like a good idea. Luckily I never added clear glue, just non toxic glitter glue, and I realized after one sip. Then I went around saying I'm so glamorous I will be pooping glitter... The only really bad side to this was that most of my blue glitter is now gone, making my bottle green -____-
#glitterpoop is the best hashtag ever!
A bit of tape around the top would be enough to alert you you were about to open the wrong bottle probably. Even if it was enough to seal it.
I get flash backs to college and gold schlagger reading this. #ievenpoopawesome
"I make these mistakes so you don't have to!" That's just... me. In general.
Know the feelin' :D
Nat Dismukes count me in
Things I actually said at work today "If there wasn't a screw up somewhere was I even involved?"
Lava lamps are super calming. I used to stare at the one in my dentist's waiting room before my appointments. After hearing about these glitter bottles, I suspect that lamp must have really helped me and, probably, other kids. I looked forward to my appointments because of that lamp!! I think I'll get another one...
I’ve been a psychotherapist for almost 15 years, I love your channel, I learn new things, my sister has severe Adult ADD, it helps me understand her and my clients, and I recommend your channel to clients to help with coping skills
@Leslie Shepherd Thank you for the extra time you take to learn about this... for your sister AND your patients. It's so incredibly difficult to find a therapist or psychoanalyst that has an understanding of ADHD and can sympathize with us. This is extremely vital when treating us for our traumatic past. Much of what we're being treated for has to do with our ADHD, how society and family has reacted to our behaviors and idiosyncrasies and how we have perceived their treatment and built walls, brick by brick, that cause more dysfunction in our lives. We are ALWAYS looking for ways to fix things, making others happier when we should be learning about ourselves and learning coping skills that will make ourselves happier.
It's people like you and Jessica that provide the validation that we've always needed in order to grow and move forward with answers and solutions. Again, thank you. And thank YOU Jessica! ~ Suzy P
Haha "So your *child* isnt tempted". I'm 19 and want this for myself XD
lol me to
ikr i want one but i dont have clear glue or glitter or glitter glue
Same. I'll need the tape as well though
SAMEEEE 19
im gonna be tempted anyway
I know this is years and years later, but I wanted to say that if you're a crafter like me, throw some mica powder in one too, it makes a really pretty shimmer/pearlescent effect and doesn't take much! It also settles much slower in my experience! Thank you for the video, I'm an adult and didn't know how much I needed these, they're so helpful for when I'm having a panic attack or meltdown in my car
I made my first one earlier today! Was having clumping issues, BUT the interesting thing is that after I added clear glue the clumps broke up! o_o Then again, I didn't use glitter glue in mine... I wonder if it's something to do with the glue... anyway, thank you for the inspiration to make one :D They're really hard to put down! XD (I don't have ADHD, but I do have anxiety; since some of the symptoms are similar, your videos are amazingly helpful and I love them!)
EDIT from a year later, lol: Okay, so it turns out I'm all but diagnosed with ADHD, lol (apparently that one therapist I saw wasn't familiar with ADHD in adult women); no wonder your videos were clicking with me! XD And I've since made a few more bottles :3
Will you make one for me I want purple and silver and white
thank you so much for posting this project. My daughter and I spent all evening making calming bottles. Ready for calming bottle 2.0 tomorrow! glow in the dark glitter!
My daughter and I are doing glow in the dark next as well
How do you make glow in the dark bottles?
I love this 💕 our daughter has ADHD, and I'm a adult with ADHD, which makes life really interesting lol!
I am going to make a calming bottle with my daughter, this is a great idea :)
Also my 10yr old daughter has been watching your videos, and it really helps her :)
THANK YOU 😊 your doing an amazing thing!
Soooo happy you're raising her to embrace her ADHD! I too have ADHD and had two out of three boys with it. I had to remember I had my third son (where did I leave him? Lol)
He was a trooper! What a hectic household! AND I raised them alone!! Please don't try to imagine how I did this. I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to! 😂
And now my grand daughter and I have ADHD "episodes" together when we go crazy and wild, sing, scream, and dance. Then when we return to society, we "behave" like ladies, and look at each other and giggle. Lol.
I followed this to make my own and I love how it came out! I noticed that when I shook it up it created a lot of foam at the top and I didn't like that, so I sprayed a bit of cooking spray in there because I remembered seeing an ingredient in the spray that prevents foaming. Worked like a charm 👍
What brand or type of spray did you use?
@@charitygoldart ooh good question, I'm not sure but I think it came from smart & final, white can with a red lid.
@How to ADHD, a really good bottle to use is the plastic VOSS water bottles! They're perfect cylinders when you put the cap on!
I also like to use a little bit of a white pearlescent acrylic paint, so when you swirl the bottle around the pearly shimmer swirls around too! It's amazing. :)
good tip. thanks
Palitato I'm guessing you meant to add the paint *after* the water cools. 😒 🙄
Damn it! 7-11 had them on sale and I recycled like 4 of them last week!
^^^ This. I wonder if everyone's doing calming bottles, because I actually had to go through three stores until I finally found a bottle in the fourth. Most expensive bottled water I've ever bought. o.0
I have ADHD and I'm about 95% sure my 7 year old daughter does as well. She really struggles with managing her emotions and gets worked up and cries so easily. I've been trying to work with her on self calming but she is never willing to try what I encourage her to do. I can definitely see this being something that could help her. Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! You are just so awesome! 💜💜💜
if i ever have children in the future that end up inheriting ADHD from me we're making glitter bottles together
Yup! I think I’m actually going to try and do this with my little brother bc we both are impatient and have struggles regulating our emotions so.. this is definitely on the list 👌🏼
same I have ADHD too lol
I HAVE to make some of these! I have ADD and my husband has ADHD. we are quite a pair! We have twins........ Never a dull moment. Since they are four years old they have crazy meltdowns...... like in the mall.... these would be great to bring along out and about.
I honestly watched this whole video then forgot all that you said how to make it so I had to rewatch it all
no worries they sell it on Amazon.
I had a flashback of one calming bottle I did when I was little and I remember that I did it during the time my mom locked me on the bath cause I didn't stop crying... The only friend I had for years to help my onw was me. I'm 25 now, and I think past trouble, not to say a better path to my own present, could had been smoother with encouragement and new calming bottles.
I hope you are better now. :)
I used to have a glitter stick that I LOVED as a kid--it was my favourite toy! Now that makes a whole lot of sense and I'm ready to make my adult glitter stick!
PeaceboneGotFound same!
I was thinking the exact same thing!
Also, another tip, use the bottle you're using to measure out about how much water to boil, or make a measurement on the jar... I put too much water and had to dump some of my glitter water after filling up the bottle... plus most of my initial glitter was on the bottom of the jar.
If you have iridescent pigment for nail art and the like, that works really nice too. Like super fine glitter. Which is now everywhere.
Finally made this. My son and I made one for him, one for me and one for my Mom. Son has ADD. I have ADD and my Mom has Alzheimer's. She is mesmerized by sparkly things. My son even went to bed without a fight due to his bottle actually making him sleepy. :)
It makes me sleepy too!
My grandmother had this really cool lamp. It was a glass bottle on top of a light and you could only see the glass part. There was glitter and a liquid inside and the heat from the light would make the glitter circulate and sparkle from the light. I loved to look at that lamp as a kid. Have never seen another like it. This is a really cool tutorial and I'm gonna make some for me and my kids. Thanks 😊
I have not tried this, but I find that watching the washing machine is very relaxing and grounding for me.
I am 28 and was diagnosed with ADHD when I was only 11 and thats mostly because my brother and mom also have it. I love these bottles. I work at a preschool and made these with my class of school agers a few ago in the summer. You can use water and baby oil to get same effect. I think I like it better made with oil because the water and oil separate and I like violently shaking the bottle to mix them.
Making 4-5 calming bottles today. One for each of my kids and one more for "an example." (aka one for my "Brain") Thank you for posting this tutorial.
I had to watch the procrastination video before i could actually make this
+Dexter Mackie ROFL that's awesome!!! What was making you procrastinate? :D
+How to ADHD the thought that my friends would judge me but then i realized i dont care about their opinions :')
Haha awesome!!! Glad it worked! :D
My Girlfriend made me one of these and it is my favorite gift ever I keep it on my desk in my dorm room and play with it constantly thank you for constantly making amazing videos =)
Such a good recommendation. I have some very anxious students that I work with who get easily overwhelmed by their emotions and I'm going to make some of these for them.
I've had ADHD since I was nine, thank you because this'll be great for the summer, because I don't always stay on my meds.
*puts like 20 ingredients on table*
super easy right?!
My whole family did this for different reasons for example my sister whines a lot when she gets upset we gave her the glitter bottle and she stopped and started watching the glitter fall it works it's so epic!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just saw this, and I want to make a Christmas one for a friend of mine as a gift. We both have ADHD, so I am pretty sure she would like this.
Making this today for both my 11 yo twin girls! Bye bye meltdowns ! We will overcome this! Thank you!!!
I dont even have adhd but this helps! I have evry day like 2 hours of sadnes and anxsiety that can hapen anywhere anytime so when it happens this glitter bottel stops it completly!!!!!! Thanks a lot for this video
I love your videos. I discovered your channel through your TEDtalk. I'm going through a challenging time and your videos really help me :)
just a lil FYI for the lazy, those who don't like to craft, or those with an aversion to making a mess with glitter:
You can buy what is called a "GLITTER WAND" commercially, and I imagine they would work similarly for you :) I just spotted a few iterations on eBay and bought one. I am crafty and enjoy glitter, but just too lazy to mess with this right now (plus knowing me, it would cost more to make than to buy a ready made one!) I even saw them as KEYCHAINS, which I thought was great. Something super portable that could help someone calm in public is a good thing!
Have fun!
It's easier to avoid clumping if you only use clear glue and loose glitter
I keep watching this over and over cuz I keep forgetting the things I need and I also keep thinking they're so simple no need to write it down.
Haha! I didn't write down the size of my H/AC filters, probably cause I thought it'd be so easy to remember. 20x20...Who could forget that, right? 🤪
This is so calming......... I NEED TO MAKE ONE. This is by far my favourite channel on youtube! ❤
+Abigail Caviar Make 3! We...tend to lose things. haha. So glad you like my channel!!! That made me smile :D :D
I love making these they definitely help me calm down when I'm angry or frustrated
Tried making this. Love that you said that you need a towel. And my brain was like 'I don't need a towel, I'm not a child' and literally 5 seconds later my hands, the floor and my socks are wet 😂😂
I know I'm really late but I made a miniature one of these in an jar that used to be for dill weed, and it's like the best thing ever. I use it during my finals and I'm also an actress and I use it right before big performances. Love you Jessica!
Wish I could see
Wow, I used to these with my 2 y.o. students (they would choose the colors). I had no idea about the glue, so it wouldn't take much time to settle, but they adored shaking and looking at them. I'll make at least one for me. Thanks for the tutorial!
So glad I found your videos. I have a 7 year old who hasn't officially been diagnosed but I do feel like she has many of the "symptoms" and will be talking with her physician soon. Your videos are helpful and informative. I am definitely going to try this calming glitter bottle technique with her. Thank you!
also try lava lamps. I find it better than glitter bottles but everyone is different. :D
I just made my first calming bottle this morning and it turned out so pretty. And actually had some issues today and tried it out and it really did help. I may need to start carrying it to work lol. Great tutorial. Really helpful :)
An appreciative follower for a few years. So happy this came up in my feed! Definitely going to do this!!! 💜 I read on in comments and realized ya this is why I still I love my Where’s Waldo glitter stick….
I messed up and didn't watch the vid so now I have a happy bottle not a calming one
Aww 😢💗
Thanks my son asked how to make a calming bottle and you are really good at helping kids to helped them to be better in school.
Today I learned there is such a thing as too much glitter, it clumped up in the top. But now I got it all perfect. Thanks!
I love the oil and water toys...I love watching TBE bubbles
Such an underrated video! Thank you for helping us and out kids!
Omg I need this for me and for my son! I know what I'll making next week for us 🥰❤️✨ thank you!
I collect snowglobes, so i use those as alot as a destressing method, but they are glass and im always scared of breaking them, so this is a cool durable version of that!! Thank you so much 🙏
Probably going to make one of this with my son this weekend. Thank you!
Very cute video! Love it. Glycerine will help the glitter from clumping too. Great tip on the glue too. Keep it up, fun channel!
+The Purple Alphabet Yes I saw your tip on glycerin after I'd done my tutorial! Great advice :D Thanks for checking out my video!
+The Purple Alphabet I was just about to say this! (I watched your video before this one! )
The Purple Alphabet I watch your videos too.
Just an idea 💡 maybe put a marble or heavy bead or beads in to help the glitter from clumping and add extra fun 😊
In the process of making my bottle now and just mixing it in the glass jar, I'm loving it! I could stir all day haha
Thanks so much, I plan on using this as a joint project with me and my little brother we will make two and use them to help ourselves as we both have ADHD
These are also a great grounding exercise for people trying to heal from betrayal trauma.
Thank you so much for your videos. My kiddo LOVES this, and we really appreciate you sharing your perspective and experience!
Can never have enough glitter! 😍😃 Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing!
Your amazing for parents trying to learn about managing adhd
Omg! I made these a while back with my friends and my mom and I didn't really realize what it's "purpose?" Or some cool "ways?" (Idk lol) you could use it! Cool
I finally finished mine!!! THank you it definitely helps just letting me play with occassionally while i paint
Thank you for making this so short! I kept trying to watch other videos and getting distracted.
Just got all the stuff for making this and I'm going to buy an Ultimate Fidget Toy! so excited!! When I saw your last video as soon as you pulled the bottle out I forgot about you and started staring at the bottle
Awesome!! Post a pic or video of it on Twitter or Facebook with #glitterfall so I can find it!
Can do! Also it makes me really happy that you replied to this and my comment on your other video! :)
+Jarod McCormick I always try! I do have ADHD myself so if I ever don't get back to you, I probably forgot. Feel free to message me :)
They sell little glitter animals or other shapes you can add. Would be good for kids. Loves these. Like watching clouds, a fire, the ocean.
My little cousin has ADHD and he wanted a glitter case and Im gonna get him one! 💗
I will make a few of these for my pupils to have in the classroom! Thank you :D
Aw we need more teachers like you! You're awesome!!!
HAHAHA ! SAME HERE! I will make one special for me to use so they see it as something that works with not only them 😁 Then they can make one. maybe a class will be for this entirely!
i love this! love your channel and content! Subbed! i also make DIY's its so fun!
Shutup fool
I WANT TO MAKE ONE SO MUCH!
IM MAKING ONE TONIGHTTT!! YAY!!
OMG if only I’d discovered this 40 years ago! 😂 At least I now know what I’m occupying myself with this weekend 😁.
I haven't made one yet but do have an idea, you can let me know what you think. Try adding a limited amount of larger different colored objects, maybe larger glitter or something else that you can search for as it swirls around. Like a 6 to twelve or more sparkly fake diamonds from a craft store for example.
GLITTER MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!
You're way too adorable. I wish I watched this video before I made all those same mistakes! LOL! Like using white glue... When I was done with THAT disaster, it looked like I poured glitter into a jar of skim milk... One tip I have for you: Use CLEAR Gorilla Glue for a stronger permanent seal for the caps and lids. Have a most awesome day!
I find taking things apart is the most calming thing, I think it might be something to do with seeing how every part of it connects and works together. Any ideas how I could make this constructive instead of destructive?
Have you ever tried using kinetic sand?you can use molds and you can watch it fall apart or smash it
A visible person model, or visible V-8 engine model...
i love you so much. I have been struggling with whether or not to go back on meds for years. I felt like i have to be able to do it off the meds. I was placed on meds at 8 but I resented it and thought people just didnt like me for me. at 22 i realized that wasnt the case I NEED the meds to be able to function like other people can naturally. I am 34 now and have tried 3 times to get on my meds but was going through the state psychs to help. they didnt help bc they cannot prescribe what i need due to the misuse of others. It has been so damn hard to get anyone to listen to me. "youre an adult you cant have adhd you must be bipolar" whilst not having any symptoms of bipolar...... now I have been told that i need to go through a primary care doc like when i was a kid. so I am goign to try that this time. cuz nothing else works. i feel like the focus techniques and planners would work with meds but off meds...... nope nothing works, nothing. my daughter also has adhd we both are also on the spectrum. so i thought it would be nice if we make these today. im very grateful for finding this.
Hello, I'm the Nostalgia Brain. I've made these mistakes so you don't have to.
Sorry, I needed to do that.
i have both autism and adhd i need ti make tjis asap! furing meltfowns glitter videos just wipe me down
We made these this morning! Thank you.
Impulse check: i glued my mouth to the bottle.
I made one for my toddler, who wanted it right that very moment. I knew he would mouth it so I checked it with my mouth first. Glue. Wasn’t. Dry. Lol
Thank you so much! I made these todas with my two girls and my 5yo already used IT once and LOVES IT!! This will make our lives a little easier and also was such a nice bonding experience ♥️
Also, the one for my 2yo turned out too dark because of too much colouring despite your warning... Will have to do that one again 🙈😅
😂😂😂 “funnel, we need a bigger funnel…we’re not gonna use the funnel” that’s me cooking! Measuring? Eh..don’t need to measure.
Wonderful craft, 10 out of 10!
(would make again)
This will be perfect for my kids. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the tip to use a plastic bottle! I made mine and then immediately proceeded to drop it on the tile. 😅
You are fantastic!!! just had to let you know! I am watching all of you videos and you are just awesome and thank you so much!!!
I have never heard of these and will be making one this weekend! I sure could use one today👹👹
I wish Jessica made a "how to fail at glitter jars" video!!😂😂😂😂😂
I told my mom i wanted to make a calmimg bottle and she agreed to help. but when i found out we didn't own all the ingredents i started to cry and got stressed out. isnt that weird i got stressed out on somethingthat was soposed to calm me.
I made one today! It’s pink and I love it.
I made my first bottle with a little help from my boyfriend 💞✨😄 im very happy for it 💖
i love your channel so much. im not diagnosed but i feel like i do have adhd
u shud go see a professional to see if u do :) i think i have it too, im getting tested for it in 2 weeks
Maritza Huerta please make sure you do because it really pains me and other kids with ADHD when you say "I feel like I have ADHD because really if you don't have it you will never know how it feels (Like if you have ADHD and feel the same way I do). Just trying to give some friendly advice🤔😀
Maritza same here
See a doctor
Thank you! why does this video doesn't show in your channel?? I will make one.
Question: when you add the glitter, will it fill up the bottle even more than the water did?
ok i just made it and this is the prettiest thing ever!!!
Is it okay if I share this video on my blog? I'm an au pair (an overseas nanny) and this seemed like a great activity to do with my kids. (I'll give you credit of course :) )
Yes you can! :):)
Yes, post the link here if you like!!
How to ADHD I have ADHD, prescribed by 6 doctors, can't focus in class, and my Dad and Grandma call me a liar. My therapist (which my Mom enrolled me in) is telling me to just ignore him on this, BUT I CAN'T!!! Have you ever felt that? Anyway... so I don't know what to do if my own parent is shouting at me "You're a liar" I just need some tips. Especially for my Grandma. I told her I can't focus because of my ADHD and asked her if I could get a Tangle at the store, she said "No! You concentrate fine." I responded with " I focus with things I like, if I don't like things I can never concentrate" she said "Everyone does that!" [rolled eyes] That kind of stunk. I told her multiple doctors told me and she said "Really I'm a doctor and I don't say so." I said she is a surgeon, not a phycologist and she took away my phone. Please help with some advice!!!!!
How to ADHD Diagnosed not Perscribed sorry!
Wow that really sucks :( Who do you live with? And how old are you?
I am 28 and in the prcess of being diagnosed now but my dr has me on Ritalin which is helping a lot. I also have a 6yr old already diagnosed with adhd. My dad is kind of like yours, and tells me my daughter doesn't have adhd when she very clearly does. I haven't told him about myself having it because I know he wont be supportive.
What does your mom think?
Pouring boiling water into a glass without anything in it might make it go boom! 😳
My stomach did a happy flip watching the glitter...
