I just moved my wells and ran your route (no potion or anything) and got 89 iron ore. Wish I had found this video before I was trying to complete Minnies gigantic ore mission LOL. Thank you again!
Thank you, Senpai. In a very UNscientific experiment of my own, I made up two batches of the Even More Pickaxe Potion(s) a couple of days ago... and came to the same conclusion you did. The portion was GREAT for gems, but not for the iron for which I was searching. I debated on trying it again, just to be sure, but due to the confirmation via your hard work (and Dreamlight sacrifice!)... I'll pass. Thank you so much! 😊💝
Thank you so much for spending so much time and resources to test this out! You are a savage beast ♥️ I was curious about this too. I do like the potion for the gems though. And lol I had the OCD triggers too with everything that layed on the ground 😂 and that last run where u didn't completely destroy the rock... So unsatisfying!!! What are u doing to me aaaahhh!!! *screams* 😂 lmfaooooo
Haha, that's because my polish wore off! The science wouldn't have been accurate! It was an interesting and fun test for sure! I mostly did it to help players decide if Pickaxe Polish is right for them or not. Too many people started wasting dreamlight on polish when the devs said it can get ore and I wanted to prove it wasn't enough!
I haven't even tried the Pickaxe polish because it said nothing about anything other than mining more gems. I wasn't sure it was worth spending the dreamlight on. It was very helpful to see you run through this method in real time. I definitely want to try this out ASAP. I really need to get some of these iron related quests done. lol I had a few quests that could have used a few gems, and there are a few villagers that like gems for their gifts of the day, but other than that, I stupidly sold most of mine in the beginning for money. Once I got pumpkins I was able to stop that mess. lol There are a lot of things I would do differently if I started over. lol
You know, I could potentially set that up, I think, but I don't really have any cool benefits for supporters over here! If I start doing live streams here, I'll add that feature! For now, my UA-cam revenue will mostly come from ads!
Just to let you know, if the rock "explodes" with all types of gems and not due to the polish but natural "explosion". That does count towards your gem count in your dreamlight tasks. I needed to "mine 2 minerals" and got an explosion and completed it off 1 rock. The only stipulation is you have to pick up the gem before it disappears. I might be misremembering, but from what I can tell "explosions" are RNG so it's not an easy thing to test consistently.
Yes! Thank you so much for pointing this out! I know exactly what you're talking about, and I should have mentioned this in the video to be honest! This same concept applies to fishing and foraging as well! Surprisingly the daily (from what I've seen I get about one a day, could be wrong!) explosions do count towards the Dreamlight Tasks! Such a shame that potion enhancement don't. 😭
Yeah, when they did this update I was SO excited to see iron ore added to the potion yield... but ultimately I was still so disapointed with the potion!
I think the polish is skewed for the minerals, not ore. Seems to me that you can only get ahead when you don't get minerals and you can double up on the ore...maybe. Because over half the time (estimate) you get coal, not ore. Use polish for minerals, not ore.

Though, after community feedback, the devs decided to add ore! The main reason I've made this video is because we already have the best iron method on our channel! (It's in the video description!) A few people claimed our iron method could be beaten by using Polish. This video put that to the test and proved it wrong. The purpose of this video is to see exactly how much ore the polish yields with the recent change. (Some players assumed it could be used to farm tremendous amounts of ore and I don't want them to waste their dreamlight!) If you watch the video until the end and listen to the closing statements, you'll see that I said the exact same thing you're saying here. Alternatively, you can also skip to the last chapter. I included chapters to save viewers time if they didn't want to watch the whole process! I also discuss my disappointment with the dev's changes to the polish. Coal should not have been uncluded, in my opinion. We can buy unlimited coal from Kristoff in the late game!

Also something irritating that just happened is I'm mining 1 of my level 10 mining buddy , got three irons & one coal and he threw me coal.... like why? Also is the regular pix-axe potion good for iron? Or is it only the extra miraculous one?
thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful :) i am running into an issue of not being able to collect enough regular alexandrite to make the green bumble stone fence.is there a way to turn shiney gems into regular gems? that would help lol any tips would be very much appreciateed if anyone has any :) thank you i hope you have a wonderful day :D
