How I Make My Bookmarks! Sturdy and Hand Painted!

- Hi! This video will show you how I make my own bookmarks! I like sturdy bookmarks that hold up well. I don't like the paper ones, I'm not really a fan of the leather ones. I also want bookmarks I can make on my own. I'm a chronic creator so if I can make it myself, that would be the preferred route.
So I went to my print shop to discuss my idea and the lady suggested that I get some board from Hobby Lobby that is supposed to go behind pictures in a picture frame. It's sturdy and thick. So I figured why not.
I went to Hobby Lobby and got that board in the frame section for $13 so it was really cheap. And the board is huge so I could probably make 100 bookmarks off one board. So totally dope and worth it.
I went back to my print shop and asked if they could cut the board into little tiny bookmarks and print my artwork on it. She said they could, so I waited a week and went back to get my super cool bookmarks...
Okay so the printed on artwork was a catastrophe. It was grainy, it was chipped on each side, and the texture of the print reminded me of rough asphalt. So there's that.
Well, I was upset and thought dang I just blew like 20 bucks on this ordeal. But then I thought wait, I wonder if I could just paint over all this nonsense. And bam, turns out I could. Keeping hope alive over here ladies and gents.
I had to paint it black first in order for my paint to stick to it. I’m not going to paint the back black just yet because I have sweaty hands and all my hand sweat ends up on the back of the bookmark so I will paint that last. Or maybe not at all. Depends on the amount of liquids that my hands decide to create 🤣

Anyway, I’ve been super inspired by these garden scenes that some of these oil painters are painting and it’s spring so I was like we’ll go with a garden themed bookmark.
I used Liquitex acrylics along with a blending medium and it turned out AWESOME! They sort of smell after the sealer but they turned out cute.
And then got the ribbon at Walmart and made a fancy loop out of it!

Do you still do spray paint art? I live in a place where winter is long and terrible sometimes, and I live in an apartment I don’t have anywhere to go outside to spray paint. Do you know of a safe way or any spray paint that I can use indoors in my room?
Hey! I don’t really do spray paint art anymore because it got expensive 🤷🏻♀️ I think you would be fine using the Montana Colors Water Based Spray Paint indoors because it doesn’t have the harmful toxins that aerosols have. But I would still make sure the room is ventilated and I would still use a respirator because even though there are seemingly no toxins on the label, I would protect myself just in case 🥰 so yeah that might work for you!
