There were people who liked your dad and those who didn't but one thing I am sure of, they all respected his abilities . When your dad passed I felt i was done with racing but you revived my love for the sport. Thank You

AMAZING!!! its so funny that Kelley mentioned that about your dad losing his dad.... when you read that... I was like... omg... I mean I knew, but hearing it in that context I was like dang... It just hit different.... Junior, you are gifted, there is no denying that.... I really enjoyed it. And Kelley, I always love your insight.... this was pure Gold....

I'm in my 50,s and I absolutely idolized your Dad since the very beginning . I was very fortunate to met him several times at Atlanta Race Way when I worked on a ARCA team and was present at Atlanta when he did the Lumina to Monte Carlo commercial in the 90s . I've got boxes and boxes of his memorabilia and pictures and autographs that I put away after his passing and pretty much stopped watching NASCAR after you won at Daytona . I love that y'all are doing this , we can never forget his impact on the sport .

I agree, I have been wanting to see more of Kerry and Jrs. Reminiscing of their younger and wilder days. Would love to see Kerry, Kelly, Dale Jr., And Taylor in a show talking about growing up all together as well as all getting together now. It would be nice to know they can all get together and laugh and talk about thier ol man. I vote Jr. Makes that happen. Can I get a second on the motion. Come on Dale Jr you can do it,,getchur old ass in there. Getter in gear. & Getter Done.

Dale jr. To set here and Kelly reaction is so entertaining. I love you and mike bantering back and forth . But I think Kelly adds a whole new prospective.
And I think you should put something like this together for your girls from your career. To pass down one of these years. When my wife’s dad passed away . We was handed down scrap books from the 69,70, 71, 72 years of the racing farmers from carruthers California. Ray Elder. My father in-law was Fred Cronk one of the pit crew . Every time we open it the wife starts into stories she remembers about be at the track. Growing up around the elders. Ray and his dad Fred. Oly beer sponsorship and the start of Winston cup .
Just my humble thoughts. Glad I stumbled on to your podcast a couple of years ago. Enjoy it every week.

I've often thought about the similarities between Jr's situation and Sr's. Jr. was on a much larger stage with the world watching but Sr. had his whole world watching, the racing community was much smaller but they all knew who Ralph Earnhardt was were often comparing the two. I started watching in the very late 80's but recently have been watching old races on this platform and it struck me just how much Ken Squire and other announcers would point out that Dale was a second generation driver and comment on Ralph's aggressive driving style, comparing them to each other. When I got into watching it was often on ABC as we didn't have cable and they seemed to be more geared towards open wheels so I didn't even know who Ralph was until the 90's and by that time Dale had won several championships and made his own mark.

I am thrilled you redid the original clippings into modern albums, but understand that newsprint is usually the most highly acidic paper, and will not likely survive Isla and Nicole's generation. This video, and the digitization of these stories are critical. Get them scanned, and shared. Amazing stuff.

She has a wealth of knowledge about your dad, and it would be nice also to hear her take on the whole story. She was a great part of it all, too. I know things weren't ideal for all of you, but I thought it would be nice for her to be able to express her feelings. I can't imagine the sorrow, pain, and pressure she felt after your father's death. I can only imagine how hard is was for all of you to try and keep pushing on. God bless and thank you.

You have to remember that Dale Sr. was a 9th grade drop out. In his own words, "Man, I couldn't hang." Probably, the only time he ever quit on anything besides his first two marriages. Dale was very adamant that Dale Jr. and Kelly finish school to the point of shipping them off to a military academy for a bit. I wish he had gotten his GED, because it would have encouraged a bunch of other folks to do so.
They did not call him "Suitcase" Jake Elder for nothing. Pearson at Holmon-Moody, D. Waltrip, Earnhardt at Osterlund, and Robert Yates were some of the places he worked at won.
Out of all of Dale's Sr.'s kids, I think Kelly favors him the most. He said she was the best driver of the bunch. If she could have had the shot Danica did, no doubt she would have eclipsed Dale Jr.
