I already got the feeling they increased their pricing!! I remember getting some of their stuff years ago and a while ago when I went to dorms and found a store that sells them I kind of found it to be higher in price (but compared to bougie brands it is still "cheap" tho - If I remember correctly they kind of have a bit higher pricing than L'oreal and Maybelline)

MAC were theee brand for dark skin girls back when everyone was was ignoring us. Unfortunately they got big headed and complacent. I will always go up for the Chestnut liner and Studio Fix powder, but that’s it. I also agree about Becca.
i agree 100%. i don’t think they were expecting these newer brands to accommodate the brown girls like they have @ a more affordable price. i went to the MAC counter after I don’t know how many years because I wanted to try their foundation again.
Tanya Hamlett Fenty changed the game for woc. Even my friend in H-town Texas who is Scottish and very fair says fenty changed he make up game as she has yellow undertones for a white girl.
100000000% agreed! Nothings exciting. I think I bought every exciting thing that came out, and was over it by the time James Charles’s collab came out. I kept my money and that was it. Now I’m shopping in all my products on things I’ve purchased and didn’t use. Smhhhhh 🤦🏽♀️
I do think that Huda Beauty is stepping up the game with their palettes. Something about the brand has always felt off to me (as a black woman), so I never purchased anything. But their shadows do look fun and amazing!
The MAC issue must be a global one then, cos even the South African ones have so much attitude, you end up not buying a thing cos they judge you as you walk in
I feel like everyone is more focused on making their skin healthier and more “your skin but better” make up is more popular. Skincare has become really important to me these days ❤️
This is the cutest comment I’ve seen and I’ve had a UA-cam account for seven years, thank you for warming my little bitter heart even if just for a moment.
I totally remember feeling intimidated and judged walking into a MAC store when I was a teenager just getting into makeup, vs Sephora which was so much more inviting & approachable
That’s Because a lot of the girls that worked at Mac were complete judgemental stuck up snobs. I had the same experiences at different macs throughout California
See I feel like this is an American thing!! Sephora associates are the cold and uninviting ones and Mac employees have always been so helpful and nice! And all my friends feel this way as well!! Someone let me know 😂
I loved BH cosmetics, I hate that they discontinued a lot of their original makeup palettes. (For ex: The party girl palette, Take me to Brazil, Day N Night, and etc.)
Joke's on MAC for being anti-social media in the beginning when social media is literally one of the main platforms for marketing in the cosmetic industry. You either roll with the times or get rolled over.
GURLLLLLL, the Portuguese (Brazil) subtitles, i am LIVING!! I can finally recommended your channel to my dark skinned friends who don't understand english. Thank you so SO SO much for that.
YEEEESS, also I feel the products' quality has down. I got an extreme allergic reaction with the last lipstick I bought, but I tested my older mac lipsticks and it didn't happen. I think it's because they change some ingredients in the formula or sth...
As someone that grew up in China, Lancôme is the shit over there, I think Lancôme and most luxury brands target the rich asian demographic. I think thats why they real quiet, cause they loud in Asia
So many companies right now refusing to progress with the times and CHANGE especially due to COVID19! It’s so bad it’s always these out of touch CEOs and upper management that just do not get it!
mac fell off so hard. I remember when in the beginning of youtube they were all you saw from good beauty gurus. Anyone had a beauty channel used mac because they had solid branding. Now, mac is boring.
the naked palettes are literally my least favourite product from them. they need to spend more time promoting that bomb stay naked foundation, setting spray and generally everything else they make.
Yes! I honestly cannot even think of a recent launch I've heard about from them. I actually still like their eyeshadow formula. I'd like to see some more on-trend launches from them.
BFF24able Lorac is a brand that was really popular in the beginning of the whole beauty guru trend. They were really known for their eyeshadows (especially the Lorac Pro Palette) and some of their eyeliners and mascaras, they’re still great but you know, people move on and find something newer and better.
M.A.C. kinda lost me when they discontinued EVERYTHING I love. Everytime I find something that suits my complexion a year later it’s no longer exists. Now I have to go to “ certain “ M.A.C. Locations to find stuff even for my skin tone. Most stores only carry for the white/ Asian skin tones. So I have to order online or find dupes.
Let’s not forget about Makeup Geek, OCC (literally they don’t even exist anymore), Tarte, Smashbox, and KVD. Literally no one is checking for them... *AT ALL*
I remember when colourpop was selling nail polishes and their liquid lips/super shock shadows were $5! their prices have been steadily creeping up. and even as a super pale person, I never thought their pressed shadows were great either. I hope they can rein it in
omg I thought this was just me. I started buying their stuff about 5 years ago. also ive noticed their lippie stix don't smell as nice. I was comparing my 4 year old ones vs my 6 month old lippies and they don't have that nice smell anymore
Amy Loves Makeup it was the people they had working there. If I didn’t go in there looking like a diva they wouldn’t pay me any attention... until I’m at the register and I pull out my MACPro card lol. They all of a sudden get real nice like “oh she was worth my time”. Lol
And MAC quality has gone down and their prices keep going up. Remember 10 years ago when their lipsticks were $13 and the pigments were twice the size?
Agreed! Not to long ago i went into MAC Bc I wanted to start using their studio fix fluid foundation again. Not only was the quality trashhhhhh but they charged me $10 for a pump for the bottle. When did that become a “thing”?
Sandrine White it’s been a thing for a while! I bought a foundation from them in 2015 and that was an option and as a high schooler of course I just bought without the pump lol
I also think MAC hasn’t been innovative for a while. Personally, with the introduction of more expansive complexion lines and Fenty...MAC became less of a go-to.
I got 3 coastal scents palletss, the reaveled ones. Those were actually decent. Ive de and re- constructed them, and kept one whole pallets worth of shades i loved, and gave the other two to my mom. I just have too much to keep all those old palletes that have less than the best quality
Mac has definitely fallen off. I remember years ago everyone would go to Mac. Now you pass by the store and it's empty (and that was before this Covid stuff).
@indoora Actually that honor goes to Estee Launder, they made makeup for black women in the 70s however because of their price point the average consumer wasn't spending their money on them when they had Fashion Fair and Flori Robets. These companies were founded by black women.
@@watsonar70 Thank you, I did not know that about Estee Lauder. I am familiar with Fashion Fair and I know that it was founded by an African American woman. I never knew about Flori Robets but now I will look them up.
Hell yeah their whole thing was “just as good or better and cheaper than MAC shadows” I remember taking notes in a Jaclyn hill video lol filling up a Z palette! Old school UA-cam haha.
Yeah and sadly, if I remember correctly, they fell off the face of the Earth due to a dropped collab with Jaclyn Hill and then a hiatus to rebrand and reformulate(?)
how many naked palettes from UD and unicorn festival cupcake ish from TF do people need. they kinda fall into gimmick brands now & they are probably a couple of the most duped brands on the market
Other brands that have fallen off - Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, Cover FX and Kat Von D. Sometimes in life what goes up must come down. Not everything can become timeless and revelevant forever. It’s something can be applied to all stages of life.
I think where Kat Von D fell off was that she involved too much personal stuff in her business brand. While people loved that her brand was vegan and cruelty free, the whole anti-vaccine thing rubbed people the wrong way.
Urban Decay's Cherry palette looked so promising!! And then it was fully revealed and it was chalky AF! And that Honey palette too...chalky. I would think that we'd be past that by now but I guess not.
It's that one confused looking girl they stuck in the corner of the pic, too...it's like they asked an employee to model at the last second, and she's like "wha...why??"
As a former MAC employee myself what she said was 100% truth. Some of the employees were so arrogant and condescending. Most were friendly but the few that weren’t went out of their way to be bullies. It was unattractive and I just had to separate myself from them.
It is Blockbuster and Kodak all over again. When a market reaches the point of saturation, the big inventor brands that used to just expect customers because they were their only option are now scrambling because they are required to invest into their marketing to actually attract and keep customers because the once smaller brands are now competition because theyve been innovating and actually putting in the time and effort to develop relationships with their customers. Without continous innovation and motivation, a company will get behind the curve and eventually die out.
I think a lot of brands that were well established before social media blew up have really struggled with embracing social media and just staying relevant in general
You’re saying everything that everyone says but doesn’t put it on the internet! I hope you don’t get hate for this. Loved this video- totally refreshing.
Hey!! true that. Try buy foundation as a black girl in Europe or any major airport!! They give you zero time and refer you to MAC! They will be the only ones with foundation for black skin.
@@p_elle I still love them though. They will always have a special place in my heart. I still buy the powders, lipsticks, lip liners, concealers and foundations. 🧡
I worked at Ulta for a month to open a store in Florida when I tell you.... I was surprised and happy then seeing how the two people "specialized" in MAC super snobby lmao
MAC doesn’t do the weekly collections like they used to. That was just not sustainable. It would be great if they stopped making orange foundation for darker skin tones.
don’t know why this got me on a google spiral but when you mentioned jennifer aniston and her fav red lipstick, i realized i’ve never seen her wear red lipstick so i looked it up and cannot find any pictures of her wearing red lips. im literally sitting here like 👁👄👁
I just googled it cuz I was also curious and I cannot find one either! The closest thing I've found is her in a glossy berry colored lip otherwise it just seems like she doesn't wear lipstick
Brands should be paying you big money for this sort of critique not getting sniffy with you, this sort of advice could single-handedly turn some of these brands around.
Also that they’ve gotten rid of so many of the amazing products they did have. They don’t even have the same variation in colors they did before. It sucks. That’s what made me fall in love with colourpop.
I feel like the only product good from Too Faced is their Better than Sex Mascara but honestly there are TONS of makeup brands with the same quality of mascara 😅
Idk man, i love the born this way shadow pallet. I love the double sized mattes to shimmers. I bought it, because it just spoke to me. Its the best nuetral pallet for me. 🤷🏼♀️

Truth.
To be honest, I think it’s more about skincare now. Like everyone is becoming more obsessed with skincare and slightly less obsessed with makeup🤷🏾♀️
Yes!!
Which is why Milk is poppin the way it is 💕 it gives a great inbetween
Yh thats why huda beauty quickly launched skincare brand
Alexus Davis agreed. Milk makeup is really giving other brands a run for their money now
Anaïs x yup. Beauty standards are changing. Powdering and being matte all the time ain’t it for everyone no mo 😌
You are so right. I'm over these celebrities trying to sell us makeup, when quarantine has showed us, THEY CAN'T EVEN PUT ON THEIR OWN MAKEUP!! 🤨

MAC were theee brand for dark skin girls back when everyone was was ignoring us. Unfortunately they got big headed and complacent. I will always go up for the Chestnut liner and Studio Fix powder, but that’s it. I also agree about Becca.
Yeah too many affordable quality dupes now 🤷🏾♀️
i agree 100%. i don’t think they were expecting these newer brands to accommodate the brown girls like they have @ a more affordable price. i went to the MAC counter after I don’t know how many years because I wanted to try their foundation again.
They did good stuff years ago for yellow undertone skinned but then everything started looking orange.
Tanya Hamlett Fenty changed the game for woc. Even my friend in H-town Texas who is Scottish and very fair says fenty changed he make up game as she has yellow undertones for a white girl.
Reema Miah true. my daughter is biracial & Fenty’s foundation has been the only foundation that’s matched her perfectly.
Becca also did that random ass collab with Khloe and Malika 🤦🏽♀️ went straight to clearance lol
I’m Tk Max’s in the UK.
And that's when i bought a few things :)
Wait they had a collab? 😂
@@FIFII when was that lol? I legit don't remember it
Omg!!! It was so bad I purchase an item and I was like .... really this packaging cardboard.... A FLOP
Makeup altogether isn't exciting anymore. Everything looks the same now. 🤷🏾♀️
I agree!! I haven't been super excited about anything lately.
I agree totally!!
I agree! I rarely buy make up anymore.
The MAC issue must be a global one then, cos even the South African ones have so much attitude, you end up not buying a thing cos they judge you as you walk in
So true.
It's like they size you up and conclude that your wallet isn't up to par.
I havn't bought a mac product for almost 5 years because of this.
Totally agree with all of these comments, I haven't bought there in years because the service is terrible. Horrible experience!
Same thing in Brazil... I love their lipsticks but I never buy them anymore because I get super umcomfortable in their stores
GIRL same thing in Germany....
I agree about MAC and I’ve been thinking about this for a while. MAC is an OG in this game but they just fell off 🤷🏼♀️
BLESSINGS LOVE I loveeee their lipsticks my fav of all time is Ruby Woo
I still use their foundation
BLESSINGS LOVE - the purpose of the video was to highlight brands that aren’t as talked about or relevant anymore lol so that was the whole point
i saw someone say to a lady that her makeup looked like mac era and that’s when i realized that mac hasn’t popped off in years.
Probably also because nowadays everyone is looking more for vegan and cruelty free makeup which mac is not
Fenty Beauty really shook up the beauty world and caused some brands to fade into the background and I love that for Rihanna.
I feel like everyone is more focused on making their skin healthier and more “your skin but better” make up is more popular. Skincare has become really important to me these days ❤️

@Avy Gr the makeup brand Sephora or the store
@Avy Gr why do you think so

Awww say hi back, she has great taste!
I totally remember feeling intimidated and judged walking into a MAC store when I was a teenager just getting into makeup, vs Sephora which was so much more inviting & approachable
FACTS
fr! everyone was so cold and looked miserable lol. to this day i’ve only ever gotten like 3 products from them
That’s Because a lot of the girls that worked at Mac were complete judgemental stuck up snobs. I had the same experiences at different macs throughout California
Honestly, I'm still very intimidated when I walk into makeup shops but Sephora is always very inviting and nice. To me at least
See I feel like this is an American thing!! Sephora associates are the cold and uninviting ones and Mac employees have always been so helpful and nice! And all my friends feel this way as well!! Someone let me know 😂
You saying people think you’re pressed about free makeup while wearing Fendi hoops is a vibe
Lmao!
Ana Heim Do you know where her necklaces are from?
karlenah10 no clue
I haven't seen alot of influencers using MAC products like they used to.
I think it’s because they’re still not cruelty free...
Can’t wait to live in a world where Jackie Aina has her own brand.
yazzzzzz
Might be broke in that world. In fact, I’m broke now😅
Remember how hype BH Cosmetics was? They, Coastal Scents and Makeup Geek were the original budget friendly cosmetics brands.
Funny I was just playing with my costal scents eyeshadows today. I just can't get rid of it, too much memories. Lol
I loved BH cosmetics, I hate that they discontinued a lot of their original makeup palettes. (For ex: The party girl palette, Take me to Brazil, Day N Night, and etc.)
Simply Animated girl I just bought take me to Brazil a couple days ago for 10$ so you can still get that one
GuardedHeart where did you get it?
Joke's on MAC for being anti-social media in the beginning when social media is literally one of the main platforms for marketing in the cosmetic industry.
You either roll with the times or get rolled over.
GURLLLLLL, the Portuguese (Brazil) subtitles, i am LIVING!! I can finally recommended your channel to my dark skinned friends who don't understand english. Thank you so SO SO much for that.
MAC always had this "hierarchy" of being superior and now its biting them in the ass...
FACTS
YEEEESS, also I feel the products' quality has down. I got an extreme allergic reaction with the last lipstick I bought, but I tested my older mac lipsticks and it didn't happen. I think it's because they change some ingredients in the formula or sth...
Kristina Gaskin yepp
As someone that grew up in China, Lancôme is the shit over there, I think Lancôme and most luxury brands target the rich asian demographic. I think thats why they real quiet, cause they loud in Asia
That's not way off tho 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Certain brands are louder in certain countries, and to certain demographics...
Absolutely. I used to freelance for Lancome and almost everything they do (70%-80%) of their line is focused/tailored to the Asian client.
SHANTEL ROUSSEAU and you can really sense that in the aesthetics of their branding. Very minimalist compared to some of the louder stuff.
This is 100% true!
Makes sense.
Mac is an example of companies that failed bc they refused to progress with the world 🤷♀️
So many companies right now refusing to progress with the times and CHANGE especially due to COVID19! It’s so bad it’s always these out of touch CEOs and upper management that just do not get it!
ABSOLUTELY! Adaptation is so important in today's society, and if a brand doesn't comply to that standard, they're dust on the shelf.
Facts
I love Mac!
mac fell off so hard. I remember when in the beginning of youtube they were all you saw from good beauty gurus. Anyone had a beauty channel used mac because they had solid branding. Now, mac is boring.
Fr! Everyone used mac, bh cosmetics, and makeup geek and now it's like they dont even exist anymore
Jackie aina out here giving these brands FREE consultancy, hun you know some of them are taking notes watching this!! love this!
Lmaaaaao you are right with free consultancy!
What ever happened to smashbox? Where the hell did it go?
LOL where have I been?! They LEFT? I never even noticed haha
Their primers are still good
This is true! I completely forgot about them haha
They need to smash out of their box if you know what I’m saying 😅
I still like their foundation stick with contour.
One brand I feel that is struggling is urban decay. Products are amazing but they need to stop with the 100 different naked palettes
truuuu
yessssss
They’re single eyeshadows are better quality than their naked palettes anyway
They make some bomb lip glosses
the naked palettes are literally my least favourite product from them. they need to spend more time promoting that bomb stay naked foundation, setting spray and generally everything else they make.
I feel this way about Benefit! I feel the only thing saving them is their brow products
Yup & their primers.
I'm soo happy man fuck them and their raggedy ass prices, products and uninclusive shit.
I just looked at your UA-cam page and I just had to say that you look absolutely stunning, wow! 😍
Grateful 22 Aw thank u so much!!
And hoola
I feel like Lorac just disappeared too. I remember when the Lorac pro palette was what everyone went for.
I still use mine. Lol 💕
Omg yes
Yes! I honestly cannot even think of a recent launch I've heard about from them. I actually still like their eyeshadow formula. I'd like to see some more on-trend launches from them.
What's that?
M9eleven they’re the discontinue Kings
When they discontinued their Matte2 eyeshadow formula, I was OUT
Yea once they started discontinuing everything I like I gave up and looked else where
That bittersweet pro lipliner!!! I cried when they discontinued it
Let’s not forget about Makeup Geek, OCC (literally they don’t even exist anymore), Tarte, Smashbox, and KVD. Literally no one is checking for them...
*AT ALL*
I think bareminerals and clinique are getting there too
Tarte, smashbox, kvd - those brands feel so old school. I never think of them when I think of makeup and they’ve been around forever now.
Ugh I can’t stand KVD. That’s def a brand that has sunk as far as I’m concerned.
My mom still has some OCC products
I feel like Clinique is just for skincare now ...
Nadia D'Andrea makeup also expires. i’m pretty sure that’s why it doesn’t smell the same after 4 years.
i’m very very pale and i still am not... getting the payoff i want. them and morphe. the formula is so dry and chalky. bh is soooooo much better
"Bye. My Uber Eats is here." The mood of Quarantine.
😂😂 a girls gotta eat!
What are you eating?
I used to feel so intimidated shopping at MAC 😅
Amy Loves Makeup it was the people they had working there. If I didn’t go in there looking like a diva they wouldn’t pay me any attention... until I’m at the register and I pull out my MACPro card lol. They all of a sudden get real nice like “oh she was worth my time”. Lol
I still feel intimidated shopping there🥴
@@TattooedGoddess agree ive experienced this one too many times, they be so judgey
A lot of people be say this, I really be not be paying attention because I be in there looking like a slob.
This is at literally all their stores even in the Caribbean.
Sandrine White that’s one of my fav foundations 😭😭😭🤯
when I worked there they did annual price increases. like it was a known thing. Not sure if they still do
Every January they are upping the price just a little bit so you barely notice but compared to 10 years ago... It's a lot!
Urban decay hasn't impressed me in a while. Same with Revlon.
I also think MAC hasn’t been innovative for a while. Personally, with the introduction of more expansive complexion lines and Fenty...MAC became less of a go-to.
I just remember old UA-cam when everyone was obsessed with MAC, benefit, and those freaking coastal scents pallets 😂
omg I forgot about the coastal scents palettes. That's a throwback lol!
Costal scents and sigma brushes
and bh Cosmetics! Lol
Omg you made me have a “That’s So Raven” moment 😂😂😂
I got 3 coastal scents palletss, the reaveled ones. Those were actually decent. Ive de and re- constructed them, and kept one whole pallets worth of shades i loved, and gave the other two to my mom. I just have too much to keep all those old palletes that have less than the best quality
Mac has definitely fallen off. I remember years ago everyone would go to Mac. Now you pass by the store and it's empty (and that was before this Covid stuff).
Bobbin Brown is one of the few cosmetic brands that back in the day had a wide range of foundations for POC.
I agree but, they still have plenty of work to do. Their undertones are weird. I still struggle to find a match.
it's animal tested though :/
Bobbi Brown's line is and has always been exceptional. Their prices are a deterrent for most consumers however.
I never knew about Flori Robets but now I will look them up.
y’all remember when everyone wanted Makeup Geek?? 😭😂
MUG really really fell off. It's a bit sad
Hell yeah their whole thing was “just as good or better and cheaper than MAC shadows” I remember taking notes in a Jaclyn hill video lol filling up a Z palette! Old school UA-cam haha.
I just got a few of their old singles for, 1.50 I racked up 😂 😂 😂 they had a clearance sale
Yeah and sadly, if I remember correctly, they fell off the face of the Earth due to a dropped collab with Jaclyn Hill and then a hiatus to rebrand and reformulate(?)
GIRL! They fell so hard they weren’t even mentioned!
Y’all remember LORAC? They’re like, GONE GONE
As the sales manager at an ULTA... I can attest to this... their bay is so depressing 😂😭
lorac pro 3 palette is my all time favorite everyday eyeshadow palette so like honestly let them die out and maybe it’ll get cheaper lmao.
i used to LOVE my lorac palettes but i feel like they don’t blend as well as newer formulas and they’re shimmers aren’t pigmented
Sydney Cabell dude yes! They used to have the WHOLE prestige wall at my ULTA and now it’s this teeny tiny little bay lol, they’re getting swallowed
oh this brand name was just pulled out from the DEPTHS of my brain!!

Right!!! Let me tell you...I’m still holding on to my last 2 Kae liners!!!!!

Urban decay hurts. They used to make such amazing products and their limited palettes were to die for, now it’s.....sad and overdone 😔
how many naked palettes from UD and unicorn festival cupcake ish from TF do people need. they kinda fall into gimmick brands now & they are probably a couple of the most duped brands on the market
Other brands that have fallen off - Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, Cover FX and Kat Von D. Sometimes in life what goes up must come down. Not everything can become timeless and revelevant forever. It’s something can be applied to all stages of life.
I used to look forward to EVERYTHING Urban Decay put out, but I can't remember the last time I checked for them at all :/
I think where Kat Von D fell off was that she involved too much personal stuff in her business brand. While people loved that her brand was vegan and cruelty free, the whole anti-vaccine thing rubbed people the wrong way.
They've rebranded, completely without her. KVD Vegan Beauty is no longer associated with Kat Von D at all.
Delilah Lunar I think the legacy has remained, though.
Urban Decay's Cherry palette looked so promising!! And then it was fully revealed and it was chalky AF! And that Honey palette too...chalky. I would think that we'd be past that by now but I guess not.
Colourpop must have seen this video because about two hours ago they posted a black girl on their page 😅
I came to comment just that! 😂🤣
Brianna Clark 😂🤣😂🤣
🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤑🙄
Yes the process of disruptive innovation 👏
I think a lot of brands that were well established before social media blew up have really struggled with embracing social media and just staying relevant in general
The only time I’d look to Chrissy Teigan in the beauty world is if she did a collab with Beauty Bakery. Food = Chrissy Teigan lol
That would actually make so much sense
waitttt you’re on to something
And the way her comments have recently resurfaced about Quvenzhané Wallis I hope/doubt they would lmao but fr that would be a great collab
