- The plaintiff says she was hired by the defendant to provide makeup services for her vow renewal. The defendant canceled two weeks before the event because her godsister gifted her with makeup services. The defendant broke the contract, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant says the plaintiff was in over her head and even wanted her to buy some of the makeup.

Same here. Tired of ignorant behavior
The defendant complained about not wanting to start the make up at 6 am but the person she ended up using started at 6 am and they were still late . This wasn’t about the gold look or the time. She wanted it done for free and she got that. sidebar: the MUA is gorgeous

That’s what just got me. Lol and they were still an hour late to the wedding. The defendant didn’t want to say that, her witness she’d so much light.
Exactly! The defendant owed the full sum of the contract.
I want to know why the defendant thought 6AM was too early to do 13 bridesmaids makeup. Imagine if they had to have their hair done the day of the wedding too… they would’ve had to be up earlier than 6AM. People don’t realize the time of takes to do makeup if you want it done properly.

@@Nevaeh1 Physician heal thy self.
Shouldn't it be like $100 per bridesmaid right plus tip? She was getting off very cheap. Also, the plantiff needed at least 4 MUA to do this job; hopefully with time her business acumen and management skills will improve.
I wouldn't be able to pull out with the plaintiff.
I agree with other comments, the defendant wanted a big job done at a bottom barrel price. Had she hired a more experienced makeup artist the initial price would have been even higher than she got.
And she STILL ended up being late while still starting early like the plaintiff wanted to do from the beginning.
Nah. She was giving her an opportunity & she blew it.
Y'all act like the Defendant quoted the price. SHE DIDN'T!
The Plaintiff knew full well how many people would be in the wedding party and still quoted that price.
The Defendant continued to try to accommodate her (give her a shot since she's a new MUA & because of her Aunt). However, her accommodations still ended up biting her in the butt. 😭

Hopefully, this is a learning lesson for the plaintiff not to bite off more than she can chew. It was a three-person job at minimum. Sometimes the best solution is to cancel the services and refund the customers when things aren’t going as planned.

This was a great case. I like how they were both civil and fair, stating where they both know where they went wrong. I also like how the judge ruled in this case, the timing of the questions to get both to see where they fell short, and how it was unfair to the other party. No yelling from the judge, just asking good questions and spitting facts.
But yeah, the plaintiff is pretty. I wish both of them success in their businesses.

$700 for 13 bridesmaids is crazy. Should’ve easily been $1300 plus a travel fee. And taking on the 13 bridesmaids as a beginner is ridiculous. She bit off way more than she could chew.
We all live and learn. It’s okay
At least $200 per ...
The young MUA has a lot to learn. The fact that you are charging for services and you have an incomplete kit? That’s not good. You don’t have to have EVERY shade, but enough to make the shades you need. And a look with glitter shouldn’t take that long. You have to manage your time correctly and learn how to make up a face in short amount of time.
If she shows her work and tags the make-up company they will send free stuff her way.
She just starting so again that’s a big risk if she doesn’t build a big clientele. She can use the deposit money to buy makeup shades that she doesn’t have.
Ms.B we all had to start somewhere. Instead of being negative try in being encouraging. The client knew what she was getting. SMH
@@sexytrinny52 It’s not being negative. I understand starting from the bottom. Her kit still needs work. An MUA shouldn’t even be charging if she can’t even complete the work. And she can’t even manage her time right. A glitter look takes her 45+ minutes? She shouldn’t of committed to the job. But the defendant also knew what she was getting. Like the judge says, “Lo barato, sale caro”

It was interesting when JM brought up the defendant being a wedding planner because if she's a decent WP, she should know the amount of time/work/effort goes into the makeup side of the wedding. Although the defendant says she wanted to give the plaintiff a shot due to family connections, I think she thought she could pull one over on the plaintiff because she was green (look).
this was very poorly planned, she wanted everything for nothing
She's a difficult person.
The defendant?
The plaintiff _offered_ everything for nothing and was unable to deliver.
Bingo!

13 bridesmaids? That is absolutely ridiculous!
Exactly! Seem like people don’t know how to say no or maybe they add all these people to help them pay for their wedding
Right! For a vow renewal
The plaintiff under quoted & bit off more than she can chew. There’s no way in hell one or two makeup artists can have 13 ladies ready in that time! She should have charged more and had atleast 2 other makeup artist working with her. The fact that she didn’t provide the other look is unprofessional, but as a a client I would have requested it again & said time was of the essence & reminded the makeup artist that I asked for her to recreate the look so I can approve/disapprove. It was failures on both sides imo but at the end of the day, the plaintiff can use this as a learning experience.
I like this judge the only one who’s calm like she judges you as a judge but isn’t like rude or telling you how to say stuff

The plantiff is beautiful. Her makeup looks great.
Drop dead gorgeous queen child may your business flourish
Her work speaks for itself she’s beautiful!
She’s beautiful! She should’ve just gotten 2 assistants to help her get that $780 and just paid the assistants $230 a piece and got $250 for herself that way she could’ve split the party up by artist 4 ppl an artist and started at 11am or 12 pm and got things done fast..her work is clearly good cus her face is on point!
If she’s so particular about her looks why didn’t she book an actual trial with the makeup artist. Also, $800 for 13 bridesmaids done by 2 artists is suuuuuuuper cheap! Lastly, 13 ladies done by 2 artists is very doable. Split 6 and 7 per artists, 45 minutes per each bridesmaid will take a total of 4.5-6 hours max for makeup services per artist.
The plaintiff is really pretty. She reminds me of Maia Campbell.

No, I DIDN'T MISUNDERSTAND anything said.
She is beautiful and represented her skills in court. As for the $100 "deposit" she said was to book her services, (as the Judge stated) a deposit is a payment applied to the service fee. However, she (the makeup artist) COULD have charge a Booking Fee. A booking fee is commission for booking agent that books the service. Many small business owners act as their own booking agent; if they choose to, they have a right to charge a booking fee. The makeup artist here messed that up for herself by referring to the fee as a deposit, therefore, she was not entitled to keeping the $100 as commission for booking. This was definitely a learning experience for her and i am glad she chose not to be combative and listened attentively. Great outcome!
13 bridesmaids for a vow renewal is ridiculous. Defendant just wanted attention and cash gifts.
