There's a lot of poor Liverpool podcasts on UA-cam. There's probably 2 or 3 good ones. However this is next level. Gareth and Paul make every minute of every episode interesting. Thanks fellas. 👏👏👏👏👏

Been saying this for ages...He's boss and it fucks me off how many people are "weirdos" about him. One prime example was the season before last when he'd been out of the team and came back in against Forest away. He didn't shine, but not many did that day. Afterwards on that TAW Subscribers Group, some wool wrote "If Curtis Jones is the answer, then fuck knows what the question must be". Stuck with me that one. May have reminded said wool when he (Jones) came back into the team and we went on an unbeaten run at the end of the season...
At the West Ham League Cup game the other week, some lad behind me was constantly on his case throughout the first half. "Was that Jones again?" every time we lost the ball. More often than not, it wasn't (as ball retention is one of his strengths). Ended up turning around telling him to shut the fuck up. He then scored a boss goal. Even this didn't seem to fully pacify him. I think some people have made their minds up on him and would prefer him to play badly to prove some weird, misguided narrative they've got behind.

Curtis is still only 23 and so has quite a few years till he's in his prime. So when he puts in a performance like that, it not only shows he's a boss player, but it shows what we can expect from him more consistently as he gets older. When he first burst on the scene I didn't think much of him, but he was only 19.

I've heard Jones regularly slagged online and IRL. The hate dies off any time he gets a run of games and into rhythm. the problem for Jones is that he's always injured with this weird variety of ailments. THAT always annoys fans ( perception of a proneness to injury ). He's young enough yet to right that ship and have a spectacular career with LIV. Hopefully he's past the bad juju.
Really good point about the scouse + overall English penchant for wanting to tear big people down.

Don't know what game Copey was watching yesterday, but Neville was insisting Salah get booked for "diving"... He lost his head altogether. Spent about three minutes arguing with the ref on commentary that Salah was a cheat, right up to the penalty Jones got, and then accused Nunez of the same second half. But absolutely lost his head over Salah.

CuJo is my favorite non-regular starter along with Harvey. Those guys love playing for the badge and will try their best at any job asked of them. They may not be the best players of their age bracket but I can’t think of many players I’d rather have in their roles. Someone else already said it but their quality is only doubted when they aren’t getting a good run of games, when they lineup every week they perform. If they can get more consistent when coming off of layoffs this won’t be a talking point.

I have always rated Curtis. His skill and reading of the game are first rate. His versatility is such that he is called on to do different jobs in midfield. I have never understood the negativity. On Sunday he was on fire and a delight to watch. Deserved "Man of the Match". I think being a new Dad gave him an adrenalin surge. If that means he has to have lots of kids, then so be it. Maybe he could overtake Emile Heskey - 6, or even Roberto Carlos - 10.

I really like Curtis Jones, I want to put that out there first. I'm never annoyed or anything when he plays. The one thing I will say is that it does feel like some LFC fan quarters are way too quick to talk him up when he puts in a decent shift. Yesterday he was absolutely brilliant and deserves all the plaudits. Just feel like some of the praise at other times is a bit over the top. Just my opinion based on what I've seen. None of that has anything to do with Curtis himself however, he seems like a sound fella and is a good footballer but the reasons I stated earlier might be the reason some kick off about him. Personally, I find the extremes of both sides weird and unnecessary. Just support the lad and let him play ball.

Gareth (presumably or whoever controls the youtube channel) started replying to the comment saying we should bin off Macallister (a literal world cup winner) for Jones!! I think anyone that watches Curtis play can't deny his talent, if they say otherwise they're just haters. For me my only gripe about him is that he's fairly injury which is not his fault at all, just frustrating because it's hard to rely upon him. Without question, Curt is top quality mid. Still only 23 yo, his best footy is ahead of him. Technique, & ability to have ball stick to his foot, is south american-esque. Still think Klopp unnecessarily curbed too much of his flair & natural attacking instinct in converting him into a midfielder. Am convinced he could do some damage playing as a false 9 (bobby style), dropping into midfield to link the play, able to dribble in tight spaces and with an eye for a goal or three. YNWA

Regarding criticism, and I know it’s not to the same extent, but the complaints that have been directed towards Szoboszlai have felt unfair. My brother doesn't rate Curtis at all. Now, to be fair, at least he was honest about him at the weekend and admitted it was a MotM performance. His argument, which has never been about Curtis being Scouse, is that he holds onto the ball for far too long too often. And I wouldn't disagree, a lot of the times. For instance, even at the weekend against Chelsea when he was boss, he delayed the pass to Moe for what would have been the 2 nil goal but was called offside. He could and should have played the ball in earlier and had plenty of chance to do so but he kept dribbling and it cost us... there have been many occasions over the years when he's guilty of that, as are most / many other players too. However, once someone gets an idea or opinion into their heads they are then susceptible to observational bias and that's whats happened to Curtis

There's no doubting Curtis has never been a consistent player, probably because of his injury record. There were high expectations after his Everton goal. His had very good games, some average games & one or two anonymous games. However he was without a doubt the best midfielder if not the best player for us. Maybe we didn't win this game without him as he had so much impact.
I still think he was taken out when the keeper went over the top of the ball. Defo a pen. But also WHY did he wait & wait instead of dinking the ball over the keeper.
