After following you for many years, this episode must be amongst your best. Extraordinary filming with natural and captivating storytelling. Worthy of BBC primetime ❤
Never cease to marvel at your photography. Just beautiful, quite evocative...if I say moved to tears tis no exaggeration. Thank you again and again. Go Florence!
"welcome to a beautiful summers day" while wearing 3 coats, a hat and a scarf! Eileen Donan castle with Florence in the background is something special.
As an Englishman, a Scot once told me there’s no ‘K’ in Loch. Really enjoying your videos, I’ve sails the Scottish west coast for more than 15 years and still haven’t seen everything. Beautiful part of the world
So every non native speaker, of every language, should be shamed for using local words. We had great fun in Japan, the locals admired our attempts and tried out their "english". Never put down someone trying..
@@mezanian It's ok to try to help people get pronunciation correct. Loch pronounced 'lock' is a bit jarring. It's worth trying to learn the 'ch' sound IMHO, useful in other languages as well. Another good one is "Eilean". To do it correctly, first try "islan" without the "d", then replace the "i" with an "e" as in "evoke", so "elan". then the "a" with an "i" as in "in", so you get "elin".
Quite right. There are a few potentially beautiful ‘locks’ in Scotland, if canals or door security are your thing😂. The ones spelt and pronounced with a ch rather than ck are often lovelier though!
Ah, the difference between a castle easily reached by road and another best reached by boat! So glad you kept faith with Scotland despite the worst summer for years ... wonderful to see your experience of familiar cruising grounds. Beautifully shot as ever. And top boat handling, of course.
The views from Sugrr na Stri are quite stunning. Amazing rather and equally wonderful cinematography … only I think you missed the part about Amy’s recovery from hypothermia 😂 My goodness, that’s a ‘brave’ lady ❤
That was amazing. The scenery was incredible and you two do such a fantastic job filming and bringing it to us. You’re a great team and thank you for such a quality presentation. Tom and Pam Dream Chaser
As a long-time subscriber, you raise the bar each week. Stupendous sailing, prodigious skyline, staggering mountains enrapping Florence as she awaits still beside a majestic castle. Heaven on earth. 💙
Many years ago I lived on the Isle of Mull and owned a small sailing yacht. I sailed many of the places you have featured. I love your videos and can honestly say that you capture the west coast in its true reality. Your cinematography is amazing and your films really do deserve awards!
Your musical selection is absolutely brilliant, you have a great ear for matching the mood and the scenery, I shouldn’t be surprised really, it goes with your fantastic cinematography. I am really enjoying your British circumnavigation 👍😎👍
Loved this episode and makes me realise how much I miss the shipping forecast on Test match special long wave! (for those that do not know, LW 198 was used by BBC Radio to broadcast commentary, the show is called Test match special, on test cricket matches which would be interrupted for them to broadcast the shipping forecast. I would add that the cricket continued during the couple of minutes it took!).
it's like watching National Geo when it was good. you guys are the best. can't imagine the amount of work, but amazing output, thank you! @22:42 that's epic as hell!
Enthusiastic about the perfect sailing, “We don’t have any sun; but it’s Scotland”, hands up…sheesh. I guess sailing 55,000 miles helps you appreciate the precious wonder of sailing Florence. Thank you for sharing your Florence…from an old vet, retired in the US foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
Dear Matt and Amy, absolutely top-end video footage, editing, storytelling as well as the choice of music (hauntingly near that castle ruin)! Has Scotland ever been portrayed as well? (Ron Marchand, sv Spirit)
I know you just move from one movie set to another and film on green screen and CGI! But you do a very good job of it! ;) I'm still in awe of your Namibia videos with the sand dunes and the flamingos! And your rocket launch from the jungles of Guiana! Do you have a green spinnaker that you use for a backdrop! It's amazing how you so realistically simulate steep seas in gales with cold winds and rain! If I didn't know better I'd feel sorry for you! Take us over another castle in Pinewood Studios! They look so real! 😁
I hour uploaded and I’m in for another Florence extravaganza! I also think your filming has got really good. I hope you get more subscribers. Just as good as La Vaga, just different and what we need. Unique.
This might be my new favourite Florence episode (although there is some stiff competition). Can't believe we haven't taken Steely to Loch Scavaig yet - defintley on the list for next year!
Thanks Pete, the next one coming up is probably our favourite episode of this series :-) See if you change your mind on favourite in 2 weeks time... and yes you do need to get Steely up there!
That's one of your most unique videos, and it backs up my claim that Scotland is unique, even in the European context.! Unusually you've sailed well inland, but that's part of the issue - the average tourist would have difficulty defining where mainland ends and the islands begin. There are even islands in some LOCHS and there are more in LAKES (of-course not covered in your film). I have never seen weather like that in ANY of my trips to Scotland - in previous years always basking in sunshine, occasionally TOO hot. I never have worn anything other than shorts and Tshirt in Scotland, however at sea it could be more challenging. I've had a plastic mac and leggings in my bag, but never used them once. This year has been a real b...... in Britain as you have been experiencing, but dont let that put off your viewers. There are years when it's totally the reverse. Ok, looking forward to two weeks time.
Wow thank you for sharing this video. What an amazing place. Spectacular views of the mountains on Skye. Note when the view of the young dear on Skye initially only its head and neck in view, as an Australian my first thought was oh look at that kangaroo🙄😂 Looking forward to the next video and the continuation of the adventure it reassuring to see that despite the size of British land mass and the size of the population on that relatively small land mass there are still wild spectacularly beautiful places such as this. ❤
Enjoyed this video, had lots of eye candy! Loved the waterway through the hills, the challenging weather, panoramic views from the peak, the chilly swim (Burrr!) and the race! Thanks for enduring the cold to show us Scotland and northern Europe! Your videos and commentaries are Masterful! You 2 are certainly adventurous sailors ready for anything! ❤❤
Just stunning 🤗🤗🤗 There is little footage on any sort of media that comes remotely close to this level of quality. Genuine sentiment, incredible scenery, beautifully filmed, wonderful narrators. Thank you.....🤗🤗🤗
I don't often comment but this episode exemplifies all the best reasons why Lynda and I truly and fully support you and your channel. Well done! hope to met up with you sooner than later. Best regards, Geoff
You both are expert sailors and have sailed around the world so I am sure your level of expertise is in the top 1%. However I think your cinematography skills may have exceeded that. Every video is better than the last!🤩
I remember one year a High was forecast for the north of Scotland, I booked a weeks vacation and took The train North. Shorts and Tee shirt weather for the week, climbed hills, explored and had a really good week not getting wet!
A brilliant video, magnificently filmed. Scotland really isn't like that all the time! Right now (nov 8) we are the warmest place in the Uk and while F2 is probably not enough for Florence it blows my Phantom along very nicely! We had 5 hours sunshine today. Thanks very much for your story.
I have followed you and Florence around the world, then around your country only for you to take me home to Eilean Donan. Our home in Australia was names Eilean Donan but a Homestead and not a Castle, but both at one time owned by the Mckenzie family. Talk about memories, thanks again 😀👋 oh congratulations on the win⛵🏁Go Florence
One of my favorite castles, Eilean Donan. Home of the Highlander . Loved the tv and movies. Can’t forget it was the Scottish headquarters of MI5 in Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond. ❤ Edit: so much more spectacular in person.
Those shots with the dolphins was superb, I was sceptical about this series when you set out, but it is amazing!! I live out my sailing fantasies watching your videos. Thank-you
I love the way they just drop in the shots of the dolphins, the seals, the deer - with no fuss, not even commentary. Look what we found. Not many film-makers would have allowed us just to enjoy the moment, and the landscape, without feeling the need to point it all out and explain it - probably with more dramatic music to "make it exciting".
Great videos,, you were quite unlucky with the weather this year, but hopefully puts people off so we can enjoy it without crowds!😅 Spring can be really nice, also Autumn,,,, summer sometimes doesn't exist. If you wanted real practice for the Artic next year, stay around the Clyde and wait for those crisp, frosty days and the best sailing ever.😊 (and buy Fladen suits or similar)
What incredible images you have captured of the beautiful Scottish landscape. Thank you for persevering through the storms to find a break in the weather so we could see this stunning scenery.
Congratulations on an amazing episode! I spent many weeks in my youth sailing with my family on Jandara (co-owned by Hamish Haswell-Smith who wrote ‘The Scottish Islands’) round the islands and lochs you are visiting. Your fantastic content brings back many happy memories. Thank you!
Loch Moidart looks quite different on Antares charts than what we thought was the reality. Also the walk to Acharacle is longer than you are led to believe! Bill
The racing sequence reminded me of an episode where you raced some young south sea Laser racers and beat them on their island, on their course in one of their boats. Small boats make great sailors. I suspect you're still dingy racers at heart
I was fortunate to spend time n Scotland in 2018 and fell in love with it. You have captured her mystery and stunning beauty magnificently. Brings tears to my eyes to see Skye & Eilean Donan again. Thank you for your excellent photography and gift for storytelling. -Dr. Mac, USA
I haven't watched your videos in a while, but when I get back to watching it is always a joy. I enjoy you two tremendously, even though I live on the other side of the world from you. Keep enjoying your voyages, where you go I feel like I'm with you.
These videos just keep getting better! The Music really enhances this one perfectly, this was like watching a really “Great” Movie or Documentary, Thanks!🍀
Great video, great editing and good music. I really look forward to my fortnightly fix! Excited here in France - Le Vendee Globe starts this weekend - hope you are going to follow……
After following you for many years, this episode must be amongst your best. Extraordinary filming with natural and captivating storytelling. Worthy of BBC primetime ❤
Agree
Just need to mention Climate Change and the Beeb will pay them zillions! (Bonus if Amy dyes her hair blue and puts a nose ring in)
I’ve said the same before and my view hasn’t changed - if anything it’s solidified.. this is prime time viewing.
👌👌👌
My words exactly (see my comment on the previous episode😃👍)
Never cease to marvel at your photography. Just beautiful, quite evocative...if I say moved to tears tis no exaggeration. Thank you again and again. Go Florence!
Yes, absolutely stunning! Amy and Matt should win an award for this episode.

two of the most competant sailors on screen. Great sailing and info everywhere you go. Cheers guys
Top notch cinematography and perfect editing has tallied towards BBC primetime awards. Just breathtaking views with perfect sailing additions.
Perfect mix of serious sailing and beautiful views ! Thank you !
Absolutely stunning cinematography. It doesn't get any better.
I’d there was UA-cam Oscar’s this would be at the very least a nominee
Suddenly the importance of wool makes a lot of sense
Stunning, just stunning. Thank you.

Amazing Scotland and great cinematography guys. Thanks

seriously good capture of a wild area through the eye of a lens and dialouge of a couple of modern day adventures well done.
I sailed through Kyle Rhea with 25 knots of wind behind us and 7 knots of tide with us. I've never seen the land move so fast! Bill
So amazing footage. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Great episode! Fantastic! You are certainly showcasing the stunning British coastline with this series. See you on the next one. 🫠🥃⛵Happy sailing.
You're a brave lassie swimming in that water.
As allways ❤❤❤
Hoping to see you sail through the Kyles of Bute in a later episode.
