I would’ve loved if the Batmobile was on a turntable like the 2006 cave. Any I’d also give the Batmobile cockpit to slide outward instead of a removable roof
Add a elevator and more figures and It would be perfect. I don't mind the black box at all ngl. I think it's unique and looks good when it's closed and open. (Lower the price too but you could say that for every set they make nowadays. I already accepted that almost every Lego set past 2023 is overpriced)
I know Arkham Asylum might be seen as overdone at this point, but I really wish that this price would’ve been dedicated to a giant “UCS” Arkham set. It just has the best and most believable reason for an insane amount of characters, while being a well known location and visually interesting build
This could have very easily been DC’s Daily Bugle set if they just made it comic accurate and put everybody in. I think by not doing that they have massively hindered any potential sales from me and a lot of people
3:50 This compartment is *_very useful._* It avoids _losing_ those parts, giving you a place to store better than the corner of your desk or a random box...
I think the shadow box is neat but for 400 dollars, meh. I think the shadow box shoulda been much smaller and cheaper, and the 400 dollar batcave shoulda been loosely inspired by comics with the coin and T. rex like you said, way more they could do
the flame piece is only because the batmobile won't fit otherwise inside when closed...hence you have to have a place to store it etc and the little blue translucent head is for the bat suit...
You could always add the 1989 batwing that's coming out this summer , and it would had been cool if they add a Jack Nicholson joker sticker for the bat computer
I think this needed more gray pieces on the interior because the Batman outline is hard to see with the darkness of the box while closed, but the saving grace is that this can open up into an almost straight line to be displayed, like at 1:43 which allows light to enter and show off the design.
This set reminds me very much of the classic Batcave Command Center Playset from the Batman Returns toyline by Kenner back in 1992. That was probably the inspiration behind this set. I love this set and I can't wait to add it to my collection! Thanks for the review!
I wish a bigger Batman related set would come out like a new Arkham Asylum, I never got the chance to get that or a lot of the older Batman sets so getting that would be cool
This set is super cool for a fan of Michael Keaton's Batman as a display piece. I really hope that they do more of these. A Wayne Manor above it would be awesome. And that little compartment for storage in the back is great and you shouldn't criticize it. This is a premium product that feels more complete with it having storage space for unused parts. Not everyone just wants to throw spare LEGO in a bin somewhere. My only gripes is that there should have been 2 more Minifigure so that you can display them on the grate pieces on the top perfectly with the extra spare suit in it's display, and that the minifigures should have been better (Catwoman with arm and leg printing, and better Pengiun, and that other guy looks horrible). I really hope that they do a ton of these. I'd love the LEGO Batman: The Videogame Batcave done in this style.
I think this is a good set. Now in terms of the little details and how accurate it is to the movies, yeah it's not good, but on it's own, yeah it's pretty cool.
For those wanting more mini figs, remember. This set is for a specific movie, not the entire franchise. I think it’s a great set, and will definitely be picking it up. The empty space mentioned below the computer, I’m going to add a t-Rex, and figure out how to build a penny.
The funniest complaint i've seen people make about this set "it's not colorful enough!" I'm sorry are we just gonna forget Batman only works in black? And sometimes really dark grey! Haha
Also we aré talking Tim Burton's versión of the Character, TIM "FREAKING" BURTON THE GOTHIC LORD FILMAKER WHICH MOST OF HIS STETIC IS BASED AROUND BLACK, WHITE AND GREY.
Someone now just needs to combine every batcave set into one and add the penny and Trex and a few easter eggs from the games too, that would be badass 😎👍
The fact you can actually replace the Peguins face and hands with the lego b Batman Penguin cause that one looks more like the Penguin than the actual Penguin from this set
I mean, the batcave Is completely expensive however, You forget one thing: -most of the Daily bugle's figures are recycled from other sets or aré Made up of parts and printed pieces that already exists, only like 4 or 5 of them aré completely Made up from the ground up and still exclusive to this set
I feel like Im the only human being on the planet that really loves that new cowl piece. Super hyped to be able to put any face I want under that thing
i think the shadow box aspect of the set is its fatal flaw, it affected the price, piece budget and color, style of build and features....all of it to have stuff showing through the front bat symbol.....what a waste of opportunity. plus, i feel that they could've used sand green, copper, dark blue, dark brown and dark tan to add a lot more variation to the color palette....imagine if they simulated shadow by having lit parts in light gray, and dim parts in dark blue, it'd be awesome!!! and i feel like all the function knobs could've been cleverly hidden on the inside with various rocks, valves, and switches that wouldn't seem out of place, and made the back wall more presentable. also, if they made it open by splitting the front panel in half, it'd have allowed for the front panel to include more functions in the set like a dock or another walkway, rather than it be a scary big flap that could probably break too easily since it's so long and has a hole in the middle, and the bat symbol is obscured by the rock formations when it's open anyway so preserving ti in one piece has no real value...... all in all, they could've done soooo much better with their budget, but they just gave us an excuse of a set that is neither fit for a batman fan nor a lego fan.
I like that compartment, I was thinking of doing something similar for my iron man armoury for all the accessories that don’t fit in the suit pods but are still part of the figures, won’t lose them then 🤷♂️
i had to get this set and im loving the build. the one i dont like is the stickers over printed blocks. also would be cool if it had some yellow built in and visible
While the built of the Batcave is alright and kind of looks better in person. However, my only only complaints are the amount of Minifigures. They should've added more figures like Alexander Knotts, Commissioner Gordon, Harvey Dent, Jack Nicholson's Joker, Bob the Goon and a handful of the Penguin's Red Triangle Gangs.
Really enjoyed the review i can’t wait to buy this awesome set yes they could have added an entrance for the Bruce Wayne figure but overall it’s a really awesome set
This is one of those sets that I'd love to build and display but... that price tag. I think it looks great, but we've seen sets with a similar price that had so much more to offer. Yes I'm thinking of the Daily Bugle.
I think the penguin looks alright! His face is extremely funny. I do actually have a great idea for an expansion set, well it’s sort of your idea. Wayne manor on top but it’s the scene from Batman forever where riddler and two-face invade the mansion. I feel like that would be perfect. But knowing Lego, they would probably make an entire new batcave for Batman forever.
Thanks for the review. Seeing this in detail I know now I won't be picking this up. However, the batmobile looks better than I imagined and love the popping guns. If the smaller set looks like this I think I will get it. Still not worth the price at 50 dollars but I still think I would get it.
The Batmobile may only have minor differences but I do prefer this version to the single release version. This version has some better shaping at the back with the fins and the air intake above the canopy, on the single version the air intake sits to high and the fins to low which makes the back feel squashed. As for the rest of this set I feel the 'shadow box' gimmick takes away a lot of the potential here. When it was leaked I imagined platforms and a cave backdrop but this feels really flat with it all boxed up and when it's open there's a lot of empty space in the middle.
Lack of printing on the figures especially Catwoman's legs are a dealbreaker for me - just go look at the printing on the ninjago city markets figures in comparison. Was hoping for some surprises with the review but it's really what you see it what you get and it's not enough.
Listen I’ve only seen 4 minutes of this review but I personally hate having little extra pieces that I can’t always attach to the set but are still part of the set so I am in full support of the secret flame compartment and will fight anyone who disagrees.
One thing I would have changed would make the mechanism levers hidden wall rocks that turn or somehow accessible from the front or top. Its a big set and having to reach around to the back somewhat hinders the view and easy access to these play features. It looks better in person I am sure than what we see in the pictures, but many times it still seems to dark in the shadow box form and looks better open. Mini fig selection is unsubstantial for so much money needed to have many sub characters (normal cat woman, with cats, penguins, police chief with bat symbol, and a screen with the bat symbol. etc...) . Things I like are the rock work in general, the batmobile and platform, the potential moc variations (easily build out from the back to include a rotating bat suit carousel) and build out the back where the tools are to include something else such as another vault for Robin, and a garage for a bike.
if i get this set, this definetly might be my favorite set ever, next to the harry potter collectors edition and daily bugle. if i do get it, ill probably add the bat family and everything to it
I think it looks pretty good, however, due to space constrictions and pricing I have to pass on it. Maybe if I get the means before it retires I would do it because I am a huge fan of the Tim Burton movies.
still cannot get over the fact that they have a PERFECT Catwoman mask (the 2006-2016 one) and yet they use the Black Panther horns which in turn make it really ugly imo
They seriously need to rethink their pricing methods. If they're charging me an arm and a leg for this, then the least they could do is give us EVERY important character from the Burtonverse!
Is it strange to say that i am gonne remove te Batlogo, so that you can see more of the inside. Under the bat computer remove the big rock piece and make a bat suit vault whit glas pieces. The minfigs are bad except for the 89 figuren and Bruce and Alfred.
Some other ideas would build out of the back 4-6 studs, and put a carousel behind the drawbridge door for 4 suit rotation, add a separate/ more simple wardrobe below where the tools are for Robin/ bat girl? plus a small garage hanger for a motorcycle. use the bat emblem slopes to make the sides look more cave like.
A disappointment in every sense… LEGO could’ve been the richest company imaginable if they made a comic version of the bat cave. Just imagine my friends: Giant Penny, Giant Dinosaur, Waterfalls, Bat Computer, Multiple vehicles, Clayface, Mad-Hatter, Professor Pyg, Solomon Grundy, Jason Todd robin suit display, Court of owls members, so many characters and references we could’ve received
Hey Ashnflash That secret compartment on the back of the Shadow Box is where to store the flame piece, When you put the flame piece on the end of the Batmobile it spins when you move the Batmobile, The LEGO designers that about the idea of a secret compartment and that’s why the did that.
I love this set SO MUCH, but man... The minifigures selection could have been so much better, I would love some from the original movies and now The Flash, I'm just so sad they are totally ignoring the new movie, so disappointing
Fair enough, I guess since it’s specified at Batman returns I wasn’t too upset…but I agree I found myself looking for custom flash movie minifigs for this set
I think a Wayne manor from Batman forever would be interesting, I only say that because I want a toddler fig and I only remember any important scenes in the manor in forever. Idk maybe I just need to watch 89’ and forever again
14:14 If you get the Batman 1992 polybag (that's the same minifigure), can you show us what this figure would look like wearing the long eared/Type 2 cowl? The new cowl with the molded in white eyes is great and all, but the ears are way too short for Keaton's Batman, and the Type 2 cowl definitely works the best with this version.
As a huge Batman and Lego fan this is such wasted potential. Get rid of the whole shape box display and include a Wayne Manor facade on top with secret entrance play feature. Now that I would pay $400 for! But as it stands there’s so much wasted space and parts in this build that do not justify the price.
You did as good as you could with the information you had. All I know is that if I go on to ever buying it, I'll put the sticker further up, thanks to you pointing it out. The reason I posted my comment was because I thought the video missed a clear recommendation to put the sticker further up, since it seems like it was designed to be put on that way, without acknowledging in the instructions.
I love the Batman ‘66 Batcave so much… this one could have been even greater but the price coupled with stuff like reused parts for Max and no arm/leg printing is such a shame. I’m not saying I’ll never pick it up but would need a decent deal to justify it, which is such a shame.
Instead of opening like a book, have it open like a laptop and make the upper half Wayne Manor. It'd solve the issue of half the set being empty space!
What do you think of this set? Besides the price, what's one thing you'd change about it?
just make it a normal Batcave. I don't care if it's Assault on Hoth 2 just make a traditional Batcave
Remove the black box probably
I would’ve loved if the Batmobile was on a turntable like the 2006 cave. Any I’d also give the Batmobile cockpit to slide outward instead of a removable roof

i honestly appreciate the fire piece having extra storage space because i usually lose track of those sort of pieces
Yeah storage compartments like that are nice in sets so you don’t have a bunch of random parts lying around

And a new Red Hood

8:48, put the sticker on further up, that way the jamming and (the whole rec) will probably show up in the computer
It’s centered on the tile as you saw. And in all the renders I never saw it either
Kinda reminds me of one of those amusement park fun house things
if you don’t like the new Penguin head and hands then swap them for the Lego Batman Movie one
Batmobile can't fit with flame so place to store it. Also blue head is for like the suit being in his armory
Instead of opening like a book, have it open like a laptop and make the upper half Wayne Manor. It'd solve the issue of half the set being empty space!
