hey mate how do you get the nuts to stay in place? couldn't quite catch what you called them. Also wondering does this method stand the test of time in terms of waterproofing?
Two ways to use nut serts is one way or drill and use the nut and bolt in the fitting kit. please make sure you apply silicone to avoid water getting inside the vehicle.

Can you use the factory mount points instead of drilling?
Yes you can but this depends on the back bone will require drilling.
