    Hiya gold finger,
Well done, thank you. I would have used a smaller drill bit and thrummed the holes with triple. Thrumming is running string that you embed with cause then finer polishing compound. Use different pieces of string for each compound.
    Stay safe, Steve...

Hi Steve, I hope you are well.
Thanks for the tips. For the purpose of this beginner series I just wanted to keep it very simple and easy and with limited kit. ;) Stay safe, Megan

Would it be possible to have a little guidance on multi point soldering? Like clusters of flowers, how to solder without melting other areas or, other areas moving? Super useful videos! Thank you 😊

Hi Maz, great question! As it's a bit of a long answer so I will answer it in one of my future videos 👍

I love that you keep the protective film on when you are piercing. It certainly keeps the piece clean and scratch-free. I have been taking it off but not any more. 👍 Also for filing out the small 'holes' I use an abrasive cord instead of a blade in my saw frame. Love this video ❤️

Hi Dawn, yup, it really saves time cleaning up the surface afterwards. ;) And that's awesome! Yes I hear they are great! As I don't really do much fine cut out work in my own jewellery, I haven't invested in one.

Beautiful pendant , but I have two questions
Why didn't you polish the pendant to give it a shine?
Why didn't you Solder the jump rings ??

Very informative video thank you. You have great skill with the saw.
Would it have been easier to do all the internal cut outs before cutting the outside shape, so that you have more sheet to hold onto when doing the internal cut outs?
Another thought is do you ever use a burnisher at 45deg on the cut edges to give a glint from those edges?
I hope you don't mind me asking.

Love the new video! This touches my heart as one of my daughters friends loved butterflies and we just celebrated her life this last week. ❤️🦋 Also, at the end it is funny that you mentioned about a work shop about how to create a collection as I was going to ask you how you do that? Do you just see items in the world? Think of memories? I would be very interested in this as you need some pieces to start with and I have a few ideas but not sure where to go from there.

Hi Kim, I'm sorry for the late response. Aaah! I'm so sorry to hear of her passing, but touched that my video was well timed to honour her. ❤️🦋
And yes, I will be doing a mini course on this in a little while. ;)

Hi do you tumble your pierced jewelry after filling it , just curious as I’m still new to piercing with the saw .

    • @megan.collins
      @megan.collins  Рік тому +1

Yes it's generally a good idea, but it depends on the thickness of the metal. If the item feels weak, pop it in the tumbler. Think of it this way: Heating metal softens so you can manipulate it, and any kind of friction (sanding, hammering, tumbling) hardens. If you have only pieced and not soldered and the metal is quite thick (like mine here) then tumbling isn't really necessary in terms of hardening, but it can be nice to increase shine if you want that. I was happy with how it was, so didn't here. ;)

When using the blade for a file, would it be better to use a wax blade that cuts on all sides?
