I expected them to be paid more especially some high performing young drivers such as Lando and Gasly. Like you have said this is a very exclusive club of drivers.
It’s Crazy how much money these drivers get paid I mean compared to other people they earn more in one year then some people in there whole life time Nice vid btw
I was expecting Lando to have more because of what he is doing this year he is dominating it. Apart from a Haas driver that at this point just quit his F1 dreams.
I'd argue that Grosjean causing the Spa 2012 crash was more dangerous than his crash last year. If you watch Alonso's onboard he almost decapitated him with his car.
@@TheMotorMouthPodcast for Grosjean, did you see how close his car flew to Alonso's head in 2012? If Alonso had a better start, let's say he wouldn't be competing this season.
I believe F1 drivers are so underpaid in comparison to footballers. There is far greater risk and health conditioning involved in F1 than football. These guys are literally risking their lives in the motorsport. As for footballers, their risk is far less. Broken leg, arm, etc. I love both sports, but I feel that F1 drivers should make more than footballers.
running costs in football are much lower, teams spend over 150 million a year and the barrier to enter the sport is 200m. I also think it is ridiculous how little they get paid especially with how much they risk every race weekend but the reality is that f1 is a business and these teams invest so much money already that only the top stars can discuss more money in their contracts. Also being so exclusive I think most drivers are just happy they can race and do what they love, they already have fuck you money and their families have millions to be able to support the drivers at a young age.
People who say things like these usually don't even know how football players are being paid. They only see the numbers of the players when the big names get bought by a new club, what they fail to realize is that these numbers don't go to the player.
I'm surprised that Haas pays their drivers so much relative to their financial burdens and performances...I expected around 250k-500k per driver. I also think Kimi is overpaid, something around 5-7 million seems like a more realistic salary for him
I highly disagree. He's known to be one of the best if not THE best driver who can seriously help a team develop their car, so they're basically investing in the future by paying for Kimi's help. He's not an engineer but if you compare how much value his experience brings to the team, you can't even talk about Giovinazzi in the same sentence.
CEO of Google earns more like $300m in total compensation, that includes not only relative peanuts in base salary but mainly incentives in share stocks and multiple other allowances.
I humbly disagree to the statement "the best drivers in the world are in f1", for MOST of these drivers they had to shell out MILLIONS of dollars to get into the sport, if it wasn't about money, we could really push the sport
Don't drivers like Hamilton also make money from being influencers on platforms like instagram? This might be covered in the endorsements section I guess
Thank you for the grade Vid. I believe in the 90’s salary’s was much higher than to day. Back then the F1 Sport was much interesting kind off Analog v/s digital:):)
Lewis Hamilton was on 40 million dollars a year last year aswell as bonuses but when you take into account sponsorship money Hamilton probably making over 50 mill per season easily this year
I have questions about where the money comes from and where it goes. Are drivers required to pay their own expenses traveling to and from races? Do they pay trainers, physio, doctors, chauffeurs, butlers, housekeepers, agents etc. out of pocket? How much tax do they pay and to whom? For example, if MAX gets 25 million, how much does he keep? And I have many more questions. but that's enough for now.
The money comes from the team they race for, usally its big name brands so they have the money no problem. Both redbull and mercedes for example are so big that the money they pay there drivers are pocket change for them. Im pretty sure at home drivers pay for most things out of pocket but when it comes to training for driving and traveling to and from races there teams probably pay for most of it. Buterls housekeepers etc they for sure pay out of there own pocket as that is not something that is needed and its the drivers own choice if they want that type of luxury. They pay taxes to the country they are based in and how much depends on how they receive it. To they have a buisness set up or any other of the many ways to lower taxes. Otherwise they will just pay the regular income tax of there own country, f1 has no control over that. But lets say max gets 25 million. He probably has very expensive financial advisors who tell him how to place his money so maybe he pays max 15% tax on that. Cant be sure tho since im not to familiar with how the netherlands do there taxes so it might be more. a

Its not just expensive because of exclusivity its also that the athlete is not the only variable there is a car as well, a car that takes millions to develop, millions to repair over the course of a season , and takes hundreds of people to develop, fine-tune and operate on... Motorsport is fundamentally different than regular sports and F1 is the most expensive motorsport it is the most elitist one , yes , but that is not the only reason ... F1 is the most expensive motorsport simply because it is the most widely viewed motorsport , if any motorsport ever surpassed F1 in viewrship, chances are it would become more expensive too ...

Actually loads of drivers in F1 only get a seat because the bring in there own sponsors, so effectively they had to 'earn' their own salary. Only the top of the drivers can get a seat just on their driving skills alone.
@@florisbackx1744 They do not have this power exactly because of the driver economic value. They need them to pay them to survive.
@@florisbackx1744 for a team that is serious about competing they cant afford to take the other 30 drivers begging to get a seat because you cant depend on them on a whole season compared to an experienced driver , for example take Max he is getting paid so much not because red bull doesnt have any junior drivers they have a ton of them , yet nobody would be able to perform like Max as of the moment , if you were to look at this season had Max gone off to another team red bull would have no chance of a title fight , they pay them so much because they need them no matter how good of a car the teams develop without a driver to extract the best out of the car you cant win or get good results.
you're forgetting how much money f1 teams spend compared to for example, footbal teams. before the cost cap you had mercedes spend around 400M a year. now 145M with the budget cap. considering how much they spend salaries cant be exhorbitantly high.
also covid brought the salaries down like if most sports.
Very well made, straight to the point. Hats off to you
Thanks so much!
DUDE ... when you said 19 of them at least, i was laughed, had to pause the video and check out the comments. I was not disappointed, what i expected!
😂😂😂
Max is the highest paid athlete *from* the Netherlands, as I imagine his salary passing through Monaco, not the netherlands.
Highest paid Dutchman 😂
lmao but Stroll, Latifi and Mazepin all just being paid by their dads
not far off to be honest
@@TheMotorMouthPodcast Its a way to make their "trust funds" tax deductable ;)

I expected them to be paid more especially some high performing young drivers such as Lando and Gasly. Like you have said this is a very exclusive club of drivers.
I definitely expected Lando to be paid more

Agreed
I expect that wages even more , thanks for video 👍🏻🥇
Thanks for watching 👍
It’s Crazy how much money these drivers get paid I mean compared to other people they earn more in one year then some people in there whole life time
Nice vid btw
Yep, but I guess they have put more into their careers than most people earn in their lives 🤷♂️
Giovinazzi needs more...
Yeh that is very unfsir
Checo Pérez as well
@@jotzielcolmenero perez is there to prove himself im sure if he does a good job this season he will get a contract extension with better salary
I was expecting Lando to have more because of what he is doing this year he is dominating it. Apart from a Haas driver that at this point just quit his F1 dreams.
Yeh quite surprising he doesn't have more tbf
I'd argue that Grosjean causing the Spa 2012 crash was more dangerous than his crash last year.
If you watch Alonso's onboard he almost decapitated him with his car.
It was more dangerous from Grosjean but last year's was the closest to someone dying
@@TheMotorMouthPodcast for Grosjean, did you see how close his car flew to Alonso's head in 2012?
If Alonso had a better start, let's say he wouldn't be competing this season.

Glad you enjoyed!
Great video, covers the subject well.
Thanks mate!
lando should get atleast 10 million
Absolutely
I believe F1 drivers are so underpaid in comparison to footballers. There is far greater risk and health conditioning involved in F1 than football. These guys are literally risking their lives in the motorsport. As for footballers, their risk is far less. Broken leg, arm, etc. I love both sports, but I feel that F1 drivers should make more than footballers.
Well it's all about how much drivers bring in at the end of the day
running costs in football are much lower, teams spend over 150 million a year and the barrier to enter the sport is 200m.
I heard people are whining because son heung min (footballer at Tottenham Hotspur) is underpaid at 95000 pounds
A week
You also need to realise that football is a MUCH bigger sport internationally compared to F1. So they bring in much more money.
I also think Kimi is overpaid, something around 5-7 million seems like a more realistic salary for him
I agree, especially compared to Giovinazzi
Not cheap to buy a world champ
He brings sponsors along
Kimi brings in sponsors and experience.
Great video! Love the format and how you were always on the point.
Thanks so much!
Lando and Stroll should swap salaries.
Agreed 😂

great video! thanks for that explanation !
Thanks for watching!
I humbly disagree to the statement "the best drivers in the world are in f1", for MOST of these drivers they had to shell out MILLIONS of dollars to get into the sport, if it wasn't about money, we could really push the sport
Absolutely, but if you place the majority of drivers into an F1 car they wouldn't be as quick as F1 drivers
Alonso’s was surprising
Yeh surprised me too
Comparing what he have during the McLaren and Ferrari years is less
Paid drivers like maz/lat/str have a second salary. The personal sponsorships they bring in continue pay them after they become team sponsorship.
That too yes 👍
Seems as though the money is on par with performance. It'll be forever changing especially as the sport becomes more popular on the world stage.
Pretty much, apart from a few 👍
Please make this video for the 2022 season it would be a great idea
Absolutely, I'll post it sometime mid season 👍

Don't drivers like Hamilton also make money from being influencers on platforms like instagram? This might be covered in the endorsements section I guess

Back in the 90s they were paid more if they were proper drivers but drivers are paid more in general now
Holy mother of god, you replied to soo many comments
Every* 😂
Lewis Hamilton was on 40 million dollars a year last year aswell as bonuses but when you take into account sponsorship money Hamilton probably making over 50 mill per season easily this year
Yes bonuses would make it much more
I have questions about where the money comes from and where it goes.
In all honesty I don't know 100%, I can assume something but I don't want to tell you something that is wrong 👍
Cant be sure tho since im not to familiar with how the netherlands do there taxes so it might be more. a
I'm just 1 minute in and already chocked because Kimi almost made Lotus bankrupt 😂
Ahahah yep
bro, I thought they made like 100k but I did not expect 9 million dollars average. That is crazy!
There's a lot of money in the sport!
1:31 Kimi saw them dollars and went maaaaadddd
Hahaha exactly
Stroll is just getting paid by his dad...
Not exactly, but indirectly
Renault are outta there dam minds paying a 40 year old Alonso $20m. Especially with the Budget cap.
The budget cap next year won't affect the salaries of drivers and staff. Just the car and development should be involved.
He is massively overpaid for sure
You know being in the team where you win 2 titels being one of the best drivers and also being the driver that is driving a brick and making points. Thats a signal no? Apart he moves million of people to watch F1
@@TheMotorMouthPodcast Not really you forgot to mention that with the drivers come the sponsors to help the team, and he is massively successful not to mention he has an entire country behind him
Eh it's Renault though. This is the same team that paid Ricciardo a crap ton of money.
They’ve also got personal sponsors to the teams which you missed, these often pay the teams directly as well as pay the drivers.
Vettel’s personal sponsors and backers reportedly pay Aston exactly what he makes from them, so in essence he’s a free driver for them.
Well of course, but that's a whole another topic 👍
Good explanation.
Thanks! 🙌
You earned my sub.
Thanks! 🙌
Its not just expensive because of exclusivity
its also that the athlete is not the only variable
there is a car as well, a car that takes millions to develop, millions to repair over the course of a season , and takes hundreds of people to develop, fine-tune and operate on...
Motorsport is fundamentally different than regular sports
and F1 is the most expensive motorsport
it is the most elitist one , yes , but that is not the only reason ... F1 is the most expensive motorsport simply because it is the most widely viewed motorsport , if any motorsport ever surpassed F1 in viewrship, chances are it would become more expensive too ...
Absolutely 100%. I touch on that in my video Why is F1 so expensive?
It's a combination of massive viewership and exclusivity which makes it very distinctive to a sport like football or cricket. I recommend giving my other video a watch, I'd love your feedback!
Meanwhile on the f1 game: you want russel? Best I can do is 7

They paid... Ricciardo could have earned more at alpine and would have been a lot better off performance wise. Think he only ever had Renault engines behind him. Now can't get his head around Mercedes.
both Max and lewis earned lot more this year according to forbes....Lewis earned 82 million USD and is currently at the 8 place....while max earned 42.5 usd and is 27 the highest paid athlete this year that too at an age of 23 yrs...
