When you buy a carrom sriker, you are least concern about how the striker was manufactured. Your concern is the weight of a striker.
Up to 1970 _ 80, every body used ivory strikers. Then ivory was banned. So we use acrylic strikers which is still in use. They also make strikers from pull / billiard / snooker ball by cutting it.
As a player, your striker should weigh about 17 gram. When you buy it. Legally, your striker can not weigh more than 15 grams.
After levelling ,
It should be 14. 7 to be on safe side.
For levelling, use course sand paper, then use fine sand paper like no. 120.
Sprinkle boric acid powder on paper. While rubbing hold the striker in such a way that equal pressure is applied.
Dip the playing surface on a ink pad to smear ink. This will guide you in removing any depression on sriker. .

After buying new carrom board ..Is there any spray or anything we need to apply or else only apply powder and start playing
i am making a board right now. i sanded my wood using sand paper up to 2000 grit. then i used wood polish and polished the board until i could see myself like a mirror. then i add boric powder and it is very smooth.
