I wish the best for USA and South Korea in the next WC. Both sides have great fans. USA has a tough group I am hoping for some upsets against germany and Portugal. I think Korea has a better chance of advancing against Russia and Algeria
Some people don't realize this was mostly MLS players who won't be on the WC roster. It doesn't matter what the results were or what the back line looked like. This was a competition for the last WC roster spots. Most of the starting 11 weren't even at this camp.
Our backline had 2 starting centerbacks A players (Gonzo, Besler). Only the flanks were tryouts. That is why the US look weak and beaten a few times by the Korean flanks. We were lucky that the Koreans didn't have finishing touches but Portugal, Germany and Ghana will punish if the flanks are that weak.
Most people should also realize South Korea also had all domestic league players that most likely won't start at the WC after performances like that
This isn't about who's better and I'm aware that Korea used domestic players. Point is both teams were trying to find standouts to take to Brazil. Some people are critiquing the match as if it's an indicator how these teams will play in the WC. Just like the commentators said results are meaningless this match is for the coaches to make tune ups. Some Mexico fans think team is better because of a 4-0 result vs a 2-0 result.

This World Cup is gunna be insane. The fluidity of the USA's play will peak at the right time. I have confidence we can get out of group play as should a lot of people!

This Korean game (the Korean team) reminded me of the US team 10 years ago...good athletes running as fast as they can...not a lot of strategy, just raw talent.... there is certainly a future with the Koreans.... I'm really not sure how long the big six (Italy, England, france, brazil) can continue to dominate....well....Germany has been amazing for 50 years and looks like will continue

0:56, looks like disallowed goal to me. hands are on the line, face quite far behind goal, ball is in between. when the ball touches his face, it went behind the line.
overall, i thought the january match where ricardo clark scored the last minute goal was a more complete and better performance, more opportunities. this match had a better result but i don't think the us played any better. korea had more moments of individual skill and beating players but thought us was better tactically and in team play.
zusi played a good game today, but probably more because the shade was on his side of the pitch 2nd half. korea definitely exploited US's left in the 2nd half more for that reason i thought.
Wondo should go to Brazil he played with a lot of heart.
I thought the back line was a little weak, they will get punished if the back line performs like that this summer

I think this was good result for a B/C team USA. You have to consider that these were players that were on their off season and some were played out of position like Parkhurst. As of the RB problem I honestly believe Klins will start Geoff Cameron over Brad Evans so no worries. I expected the team to be rusty and Korea had just came fresh off of other friendlies so of course they had an advantage. Well done team USA now on to Ukraine in March!

Good win, but we played too passive and didn't take enough chances on goal. Zusi did great. Wando just cherry picks which is fine but doesn't work against real competition. That's why he didn't finish the gold cup well. I'd rather take Hercules Gomez or Terrance Boyd to the world cup.

I went to a US Mexico game in Philly. Mexican fans came off to me as incredibly classless. Btw, Calling them "bitches" is literally nothing compared to a football game lol.

I wish we had a sturdy striker. we always have a sturdy top tier GK like howard and as well as Guzan, but its hard to argue the Dempsey, Donavon, Altidore, and EJ or Johannson are on the same level as someone like Giroud, Negredo, Dzeko, Tevez, any of those guys.... i mean i know its unrealistic to think we will ever have a Neymar, Messi, Aguero, Ronaldo and stuff. but i wish we just had a star striker already! or a star period! Maybe the Zelalem kid or Julian Green turn out good...

It is but its not the #1 most popular sport. We had the second most fans show up in Brazil first was of course Brazil. Soccer came in 2nd on a survey with teens asking them what's their favorite sport and they said soccer. Also an estamnte of 30% of kids in the USA play soccer.
You just have to have 11 excellent players.

The U.S team was probably gassed out by the second half. 3 1/2 weeks of intense training took a toll. Add to that the travelling involved to and from Brazil.
FIFA needs to implement goal post technology that was a goal by Korea, its always a shame when goals are not counted, we all know a single goal can change the momentum of the game and we have witnessed many injustices. Just hoping none occur at the World Cup this summer but who knows its happened before.
Seriously, I'm kind of upset with the highlights. Didn't watch the game. But it seems like some of these players aren't ready for Brazil 2014.

USMNT needs more tactical and skillful players like Donovan who can score, assist or create opportunities for others to score. If they had 4 skillful players like that in every game, they will do better. Second goal is interesting.
don't judge them by this game. this was mostly the B-team vying for the final spots on the roster. as far as the type of players you mention go, clent dempsy fits that bill, and aron johannsson, graham zusi and mix diskarud are up-and-coming players who could eventually fill that role.
Yes, we need more skillful players. We need players who can move in spaces and pass better. We had no one who can play one-on-one or stay calm under pressure and hold the ball. The Koreans looked much better moving the ball and passing it. They just couldn't finish.

The US didn't have Bradley, Dempsey, Altidore, Johannson, F. Johnson, Jones, Bedoya, Beasley, Howard. USA is better than Korea. Live with it.

There's no way to Judge who's better. Most of these guys probably won't play together again. Some fans like to trash talk though. It was a scouting match for US and Korea. Best luck to you're team.
Joseph Seo South Korea lost to Iran in Ulsan in WC qualifying, in a crucial match no less. Oh, yeah, they tied Lebanon (!) in qualifying too. FIFA ranking of 53? The USA had maybe 3 starters on the pitch to probably 5 or 6 for S. Korea. S.Korea had a couple of games to warm-up for this match and gel as a team, having played Mexico (4-0 loss to the same Mexico that barely qualified for the WC and was thoroughly handled by a full-strength USA squad) and Costa Rica in the previous two weeks while the USA hadn't played in months. And S. Korea still loses 2-0. So, yeah, I think we can say that the USA is definitively better than S. Korea. And that's no knock on S.Korea, that's just reality. S.Korea will have a much improved team in about two years or so, but they just aren't that good right now, and to make excuses for this loss looks pretty pathetic. They are what they are, so just accept it and move on.

Perhaps they were having a subpar day. There wasn't a lot of urgency to beat Korea anyways. If those 2 are starters then maybe the focus wasn't on them. Besides everyone was coming off a long vacation period.

This was for the coaches to find last roster spots for a Brazil. For this MLS squad it's they're last chance to make the national team. Our starting 11 haven't played together in a long time. We don't know know who Klinsmann will pick for his A team. We haven't seen how good the WC team will be since its a mystery to fans. The fact that Landon Donavan isn't guaranteed a spot should tell you that. I suspect it will be mostly Int'l players or Int'l experience like (Altidore, Dempsey, Johannson, Holden, Howard, Guzan, Cherunlondo etc..).

I feel like I've been saying how good this guy is for a year and a half and no one buys it. the dude is a fucking baller and gets no credit. he needs to start. who do we have that is as much of a work horse, accurate on set pieces, and has that energy level? not many...

I still think our defense is vulnerable and needs toughening up and organizing somehow. I'm sure Klinsmann has some ideas, but we're gonna need good defense or these guys we're playing will eat us alive.

Agree with Damn lopez. Howard is your #1 GK in the World Cup, then after, it's Brad Guzan with Rimando as backup. All 3 are great. The USMNT may have some holes, but they certainly don't have holes at GK.

False. S.R. Jung, Y. Lee, J.S. Kim, J.Y. Kim, and S.W. Kim ("Wookie Kim") are all starters (I watched them all start against Brazil in October). Y.H. Ko and K.H. Lee also figure prominently into Hong's roster. S.Korea was green in the midfield in this match, but beyond that, they were nearly full strength.
lol not true at all. They didn't have Son Heung Min, Lee Chung Yong, Ki Sung Yung, Kim Bo Kyung, Koo Jae Cheol, Kwak Tae Hwe, Ji Dong Won, and the other two defenders in Bundesliga. Trust me. This isn't even close to Korea's starting line up.
