Good video! I installed these 4 years ago in my 2020 Tacoma and they’ve held up well. Another benefit of them is when towing, they help hold the tongue weight and help stabilize the load.
We have the black Sumos holding up a Four Wheel Camper. I'll admit our truck is overweight with camper and gear on long trips. But it's worked fine on our 2018 with the camper on 99% of the time. Better than air bags since there's no need to pump in air, or deal with leaks. Better than another leaf spring? Well... I dunno! But super easy to install and so far, so good.
I put these on the front of my 2021 Taco and they made a huge difference on those occasions where one would bottom out the front and hit those OEM stops. Difference is remarkable. I have the rear set along with the u-bold flip which i will install eventually.
I've got the 1,400 lb. Sumo's front and rear on my 2020 offroad. I wound not say they are stiff. Quite the opposite. They greatly improved my ride and allow me to carry more weight without the rough bottom outs. Well worth the expense.
I've had sumo springs (black) for the past four years to help with squat when towing our trailer. Yes, the ride did stiffen substantially. I wouldn't dare do any aggressive off roading with these as you'll want more travel. The only issue that I might have it feathering of my tires. I'm not 100% sure if this is from the springs but my alignment is spot on and my shocks and springs are fine. I'm not sure if the extra bounce I get from the stiffer ride is causing the feathering.
@@teamoildrop I was referring to towing and the sumos are under compression. But even when not compressed there's not a huge gap there. It doesn't take much to activate the sumos.
@@teamoildrop not entirely sure. Noticed it on all four tires but they’ve seen several rotations (40k miles). My theory (and it may be a lame one) is that the excessive bounce I get from the stiffer sumos while towing may have caused it. Again, just a theory but my alignment is totally fine and the truck only has 44k miles on it.
I’ve got the blue ones on my stock height 2020 sport. I load motorcycles into the Taco quite often and these help reduce the sag for sure. Haven’t noticed ride quality issues, sport suspension is bad anyway. I haven’t really thought about them since installing. I think there worth it for the $$.
@@teamoildrop I’m considering the Fox 2.0 shocks for my sport. Curious if they are worth the money over the 5100s if I just want a better daily driving ride. The stock sport shocks aren’t handling the bumps especially after upsizing to a 32” tire.
@@2WCapo I don’t want to answer you without actual first hand experience with the foxes. I know it’s a loved and well revered company but I’ve always ran billys. Ya know?
I installed these (the blue ones) on my 2000 SR5 Tundra. I confirm that these were a game changer for me. Loaded or not the truck stay straight, and handling much more better. By all means this truck is not a race truck, but these bump stops really improved it's hadling.
@@yzrippin ishh. I’ll add off-roaders don’t mind them unless you’re going for some serious articulation. Also, you know how much we sag even with light loads
Everybody loves the Carolina squat!!! JK!!! I was looking at the AccuTune one's but just can't pull the trigger. The cost and do I really need them? NO
For our 2018 Taco with Four Wheel Camper loaded: there is a gap between Sumos and bump stop without the camper on the truck. With the camper, it restored about the right rear height. So the unloaded truck is not "lifted", but the loaded truck is.
Let me add that I don't feel any difference in normal gentle driving when the truck bed is empty. That's because of the gap between Sumos and bump stop. However, when there's a big load on the back due to payload, or aggressive maneuvering... now that's when they come in handy!
@@Chicken_Bake-vz5xg I simply loosened the u-bolts, removed the bump stops, replaced it with the sumo spring, and tightened to spec. Truely a simple task. The instructions will also cover in a bit more detail.

I can't see how as proper installed Sumos have a tiny gap during normal opertating just like a bump stop...

@@unikornkontroller are we referring to the rear tires? They are the ones feathering? I just have a hard time thinking the sumos could be the cause.

If someone was adding a bed rack and tent setup, would you recommend going this route or add-a-leaf?
If it were me I'd AAL only if I wanted the extra height. Thus, I run sumos

Another con is that they reduce flex and articulation for offroading. Good product for toeing and hauling though.
