I have this as well and it is awesome. I've done 2 oil changes since installing it. Very quick and clean way to change my oil. And it sits above the TRD skid plate so no worries of anything hitting it. And I use a regular oil pan. I don't use the bag. I also use the MotivX set to drain the filter and a funnel that screws onto the oil filler neck.
It really is a neat design. Still no complaints from me!
I've had this on my truck for a while and LOVE it. Makes changing oil easy and mess free.
Love your videos they’re super helpful and very detailed!
Thanks Seth!
Just in time, was about to buy another drain valve! I probably won’t use the bag, I don’t want to buy ongoing consumables. Thank you!
For sure! Although the bag is reusable! But you could you’d anything really.
@@teamoildrop Oh I had assumed it was one time use! Thank you for the clarification!
Nice, taking notes!😎
That badge is sharp as HECK
@@teamoildrop True!👌
Forgot to mention it’s made in the USA and veteran owned! 😊
All true!
Have fumoto valves on all my stuff. I'll have to give this a try.
Me too, me too... I was fascniated by this simple yet effective design so I've switched for now.
Installed mine yesterday based on your recommendation. Works great and looks solid. Two issues I have with it:
- Instructions call for installation with a 24 mm socket. The 24 mm socket barely fits with a lot of slop. The correct socket for this value is a 15/16 in. Fits like a glove.
- Manufacturer provides no torque spec for tightening. Come on. Valve-o-max can do better.
Facts. A torque spec would be nice. However, in lieu of one I’d resort to 30ft lbs if you don’t want to go by the snug/tight instructions 🍻
Lots of Amazon reviews stating that the bag developed a leak in some cases, especially if the bag is dragged on a rough surface. Please keep us updated if this happens to you. Enjoy New York, as much as one can.
Good call. I filled it and never emptied it before I left NY. I’ll be officially moving soon. We shall see 🤞
Cool! Doesn’t this suffer from the same issue as the Fumoto valve in that the threads are so long that you aren’t evacuating the bottom of the oil pan?
Yes, it has the same issue. But we are talking about 8 ounces being trapped. This is 7.9% of the total oil volume. Not enough for me to be concerned with.
If, for some reason you do cold oil changes, then yes, I would be concerned

Looks like a good idea but don't care for the bag, I got several drain pans and special containers that I use to take oil back to Autozone.
I drain mine into empty oil jugs. I drop those off at the parts store.
Greg
@teamoildrop
Great idea.
I can also take my used motor oil and place it on the curb for the county to come pick it up on recycled materials day (every 2 weeks).
I just need to put the oil in old milk containers.
Problem behind that is I don't buy gallon milk anymore.
Genius
:-)

Few weeks ago I had to buy a couple extra fumoto caps cause mine went M.I.A. Sorry fumoto, you were fantastic over past 2years but looks like we're breaking up😢
I love Fumoto but the plastic clip has always bothered me a bit. Never lost one though!
Kinda neat, but not worth $50, and this would be likely to retain any metal particulate in the pan rather than letting it drain out. In the event that there was any, you'd never see it, and it would stay in your engine.
That certainly is another viewpoint

@@KFish-bw1om he’s our subject matter expert and part of 2 man team
@@teamoildrop Ah ok, thanks for clarifying.
I agree. The threads going up into the oil pan are going to keep that last little bit of oil from draining out.
Every time i change my oil when its hot that 0w20 splatters everywhere like water and i have a mess to clean up. This might be the ticket but worry it could hit a rock or something and break it off when offroad.
It's really over built. If you're driving in an area that you think you may damage the Valvomax, then you REALLY need real skid plates.
Greg
Why don't you drain your oil with the plug in and when it stops take out the plug to show us if there is oil left in the pan.
Like the Fumoto there definitely will be a trace amount due to the thread length. Solving this would either use an extra steel washer or grind off some of the threads (if ya care enough)
Do we know if it holds more or less oil at the bottom of the oil pan than Fumoto?
I’d say the same as the threads that screw into the pan are roughly the same length on both. See 0:30
Just ordered one of these because I’m tired of making a mess when the 0-20 comes flying out and splashes all over the floor because it’s like water in the summer!
