    Gotta tell ya, I’m Jamaican by birth- now living in Canada- and as a singer/songwriter, never figured out how to get these great authentic piano sounds; but props to you! Now that I record from my little home studio, I needed this. This is a top-notch tutorial,

      @@DMKahn you are 100% correct. A lot of persons trying to provide content doesn't understand the fundamentals and you are one of the very few that provide the real deal. continue to provide material from mixing, right down to mastering if you do mastering . once again thanks for your time and effort

      Heavy riddum with heavy spliffing that's the reggae way, that's where those nuances come through, with a little help from "blue dream", just messin, but it does help but not necessary for today's poppy reggae sound.

    BTW a C3 Hammond has the same guts as a B3 Hammond. The "C" for Church added wood to shield the player's legs whilst playing. Otherwise they are the same. You could say C for conservative as well.

    why not use inversions on the chords? when i learned they talked about voice leadinings and how the d chord allready has an a at the fifth so you should keep that the same and only move the fingers on d and f to c and e to change to an a chord. is this not reggae style? should i move the whole hand (and whole chord shape)

    • @DMKahn
      @DMKahn  5 років тому +1

      Ed Keenan I'm really glad someone picked up on that! I was actually considering playing that way when I was considering what to shoot this video on. I went with the easy way as shown (easier to see for the watcher, actually harder because you have to move your arms more lol). But to answer your question, yes of course you can use the inversions!!

    • @EdKeenan
      @EdKeenan 5 років тому +1

      @@DMKahn thanks man i was wondering because i always try to voice lead the piano chords and i thought sience you werent doing that, maybe thats why my record dosent sound as 'reggae' as id like it too. its on my channel if you want to critique it. we could make a dope video of you looking at my multitracks and pointing at like one of the guitars or keys or something and being like 'this is where it ceases to be reggae'

    • @alvisreid8892
      @alvisreid8892 4 роки тому

      It also depends on the genre of reggae you want. Playing any inversion other than the root positing would give you a much more wide and colorful sounding piano. This is however not always the goal. Sometimes even one hand chords work better whether it be root position or inversions.

    I have the impression that the sheet music does not correspond to your playing? According to the sheet music notes at timestamp 4:35 In the sixth bar the first pianochord is on the 2. However in bar five the first pianochord is shown on the two-and. Bar 5 is not played like that.... Are the notes wrong?

    • @DMKahn
      @DMKahn  3 роки тому +1

      I have no idea if the sheet music is right or wrong. I don’t read music, self taught here. I have a feeling Logic is incorrect, or my playing is not “classical” enough for Logic to pick up what I’m doing, or I’m slightly off time, etc.
