    This combination of adapters shorts together the left and right channels of the headphone output on the Rodecaster. You can probably get away with that, but there’s a potential to damage the headphone output that way. To do this safely, you’d need an external mixer to combine the left and right signals. Alternatively, you could just send right OR left to the iRig. The caller would still hear in both ears. It would be perfectly fine if all your other sources are mono, and probably good enough even if there’s some stereo background music.

      Thank you for your comment!
      Alternatively one could use the Behringer MX400 instead of the dual mono to single mono adapter, as it is an external mixer that has a mono output.
      Nothing went wrong in my testings, but I’m also not an certified audio engineer, so if this is a concern, the MX400 will do the job an it also does not break the bank. Or Apple should just allow phone calls through the USB port. :)

    It worked. What also worked, as you probably know. Was rode sc27 cable. iPhone Settings-wifi calls (still gsm)-calls on other devices and when the call starts, click on speaker and choose Macbook.
    I also did Midi aggregate for combining a 2nd sc27 to the same macbook for Riverside fm.
    Kind regards

      Just now tested and it does work great. There seems to be some little things to iron out with settings. It seems to have a tiny little pop sound every so often on the spaces recording. Not sure why or how to get rid of it.

    Great content and really awesome production value. Thank you for producing this video, it was really quite great! It reminded me of the days on an analog mixer where we had to build mix-minus solutions ourselves - which was good, because it really forced me to think through the signal chain and understand what was being routed where. RCP2 makes it so much easier these days, but your external analog solution to keep things wired up is something I can definitely appreciate. :)

    I would like to point out that I did the test with two different acoustic devices.
    The first time both devices connected perfectly, and the second Bluetooth symbol appeared next to the outgoing monitor symbol.
    I turned the rhodecaster pro II off and on again, both devices were no longer displayed among the devices and I was no longer able to connect them. I repeat, the first time they worked perfectly. What could I do to solve the problem?
    Thank you

    There are many YT videos that describe how to record with the iPhone via bluetooth. I tried that several times, but the voice of the called party sounded very strange each time. Much deeper than the original and artificial. But this one works so well that it's hard to believe. Looks a little funny, the tangle of cables on the table, but who cares: it does what it's supposed to. As far as I've searched and found, I can say this is the only video that has a workaround for this form of iPhone phone calls. Thanks alot. You saved me a lot of jobs with that. My alternative seemed to be buying an Android phone. As an Apple user for decades, it would have broken my heart.

      Hi, thanks! I could replicate this video using the RC Duo, but it would be just repeating myself, as the Duo will work exactly the same way as the Pro II, only you‘d use Channel 2 instead of Channel 4 and headphone port 2 instead of 4, as you only have two of both.
      The software settings are also the same, just set the submix for headphone output 2 instead of 4 and remove channel 2 from it instead of channel 4.

    How about the rodecaster duo which has a 3.5mm headset jack at the front ?

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister Рік тому

      The 3.5mm headset jack unfortunately does not work the same way on the RC Duo as the TRRS port did on the original RCP: it is purely meant for headsets, albeit it does get its own channel. Nevertheless, since you have 2 combo inputs and 2 standard headphone ports on the Duo with the same custom routing and submixes options as on the RCP2, you can set it up on the Duo as well. Not 3x, only 1x as you need the other combo input for your mic - unless you are using the headset on the TRRS port as your own main mic and headphone, then you can use both combo jacks and headphone ports for this setup and you can then set it up twice.

    Will this work on pixel pro 7?

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister Рік тому +1

      I don’t think you need this for the pixel pro 7 as you can just use the USB2 port to connect it to the RCP2 and record through there (the limitation is scepcifically mentioned for iOS, not for Android). Nonetheless, this setup should work with the Pixel Pro II as well, with a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle that helps connecting the iRig2 to the phone, as the iRig2 has a 3.5mm plug. I haven’t tested it though - but I have been testing it earlier with android phones and it worked there, so I see no reason why it shouldn’t.

      Hi, the Bluetooth channel is not affected by this setup. You can record a phone call via Bluetooth as well (from another phone), parallel to this solution, as you have a built-in, selectable mix-minus routing for the Bluetooth output - for that you don’t need any of this. Let’s see if the USB-C version of the iPhone will support phone calls over the USB channel, although I wouldn’t put too much money on it… :)
