You are so good at explaining things. Being a software engineer by training, I like precision when people are explaining the technical details. Your pacing is spot on. I will need to listen to this 1-2 more times so I can get things right. Part of the issue is the need to find my AirPods so I can set them up while watching. LOL And I need to sort the settings on the Max so I can play music, a UA-cam clip and not step on what is happening during the Zoom sessions. All a bit of fund before kicking off my first podcast.
everything worked great but today when I used my air pods, there was no sound. Tried resetting, reconnecting, and nothing. They work fine with my iPhone but rodecaster, I can only hear chime when it connects. Anything else I can try?
Solid review - the only problem remaining is that you will still hear others with a delay, which will delay your responses to them in turn. Not as big of an issue in 1:1 calls, but in larger team discussions it will increase the instances of you interrupting people and vice versa.
I assume it would, haven‘t had the chance to test it yet though. But since it is said to retain all the routing options as well as all other features of the RCP2 - which should include output to Bluetooth speakers - I see no reason why it wouldn‘t work.

Are you using the Tascam or RCP2 as your daily driver at this point? Great tips, btw. The custom routing looks great, almost like a mini-Loopback built in.
Thanks Chris! At this point I‘m using the RCP2 - still testing it and then jump back to comparing them. Custom routing indeed elevates the RCP2 to a different level - especially if Røde would release the update that enables it also for the analog outputs.

As soon as you are connected via bluetooth, a white Bluetooth icon will appear in the top row of the main screen, left to the main monitor volume indicator (see at 2:44 in the video). Just tap on it and you can turn up the volume of the bluetooth output with the Rotary Dial.
Can you connect beats headset? And hear you the audio from the mic for example shure mic? Used those headphones like for podcast? Before I spend 700 dollars bro
Hi, yes and no. Yes, you can connect any Bluetooth headset, so beats too and you will hear the mic(s and everything else that is) plugged into the RCPII. BUT I would not recommend to use them for podcasting as you have quite a bit of latency (=delay) due to the bluetooth transmission, as demoed in the video. So if you need real time audio monitoring and also hear yourself, I would recommend to use wired headphones. Those will be (very close to) zero-latency. Bluetooth will not, that‘s why I have taken out my own mic‘s channel from the bluetooth output in the video, so that I don‘t hear myself with a delay, as it is impossible to speak then.
On the microphone channels you can, but not on the bluetooth channel (or any of the digital channels for that matter). You can "only" apply voice processing (depth, sparkle, punch, or the advanced noise gate, de-esser, compressor, etc) to the digital channels, but no effects. You can however create a mix-minus with the good old iRig2-method (see my earlier videos) where you would route the phone input into one of the mic channels, and that way, you could also apply voice effects to the audio coming from the phone.
@@DylanWithVideos that I did not notice. Certain musicians from the community have complained about latency but also they did not specify if it was from the headphones or through the USB recording into their DAW… I have not experienced it, but surely I also haven‘t covered all possible use cases.
When I first did this process, it worked. Now, when I re-connect, it says it's connected, but no sound is going to Bluetooth Airpods, no mic or computer sound. Not sure what I did wrong. Any ideas?
Is it possible to create custom FXs to assign to the smart pads? I'm just curious how much can you customize or modify the default FXs that come preinstalled, or how would you add a custom FX? I know you can add your own sounds, but this won't morph my voice.
Hi, you can combine/layer and individually fine-tune the on-board effects, but beyond that you cannot create/load custom voice changing/morphing effects.
I can connect my wireless headphones but you can only lysten to the main mix, as they were speakers. If you want to lysten to a particular channel, as you do with a regular headphone, that's no possible
So to use Bluetooth headphones, the solution is to mute your voice? That’s not a great solution. I’d still want to hear my vocal in my headphones. Sigh.

I wish it would be, unfortunately due to the fact that it uses the Bluetooth connection, you cannot avoid the delay.

is there latency in your headphones when hearing your own voice?
There was, which is why I took out my voice from my headphone mix (in this case from the Bluetooth output)

So there is no way to use Airpods to monitor yourself without a delay is what I'm getting.
So to use Bluetooth headphones, the solution is to mute your voice? That’s not a great solution. I’d still want to hear my vocal in my headphones. Sigh.
