Ohhhh let me tell you: I have not read the book. I didn't even pay attention at some Instagram stories or posts about the movie until I stumbled upon a teaser just a week ago... Then I got excited! Watched the movie just when it came out and I am SO IN LOVE with Alex and Henry as a couple. I love with what they showed of their story in the movie, soooo I ordered the book the next day! 🤭 'Cause I bet it will be even better!
@JulieUrena thats exactly what you should do!!! then come back and watch the film again when you get to know them better. the book is so romantic, like it only deepens how much you know them. the actors nailed it. perfectly.
I love that you loved the “baby” line on the phone. It’s a direct reference to something in the book where Alex talks about how Henry “melts” (or something like that) every time Alex calls him “baby.”
Yes! Which they played up Alex calling Henry 'baby' and secretly enjoying the effect it has on him. It would've added even more to this already beautiful movie. ❤
for me, nick and taylor *nailed it* being henry and alex. i really couldn't ask for different actors, it's like they were *born* to portray firstprince 🤍 so i was very happy watching
16:16 the book explains better why they do emails. and also, not to spoil, but they're so romantic in the book, it's like they couldn't text about the things they want to in just texts :)
if these two were real, they would both know there is no way for them to have a fully 'private' conversation via their electronic devices. they are all monitored by their security agencies for their own good. and if one of them would try to buy/obtain a phone like you and me from a vendor, they wouldn't get away with it for 10mins
The scene about Zahra that you dont quite get is that she's the PR of the President. She's lossing her shit because its her job to keep any rumors or media incidents that may affect the president's campaign for reelection. Also she cares about Alex too I guess that's why she's over reacting. I find that scence so brilliant and very well deserve to be honest.
Zahra is not the PR person of Madam President. She's her Chief of Staff. She basically RUNS the office of The President of The United States and is therefore Alex's boss from the moment he goes on the campaign trail to Texas.
They have they type of chemisty, that I keep feeling like, "I should go, right?" 🤣 There are just some pairings where you stop feeling like the audience and start feeling like you're hiding in a bush or something.
Zahra’s behavior is very on brand with the character in the book. They made many many changes from the book so maybe they should have changed her too? I don’t know. I personally loved it. I can see why it may seem off putting but the actress is absolutely nailing the character from the book.
She's selling her character so well to be honest, its brilliant how they made her over react since its her job as a PR of the president and its in the middle of the campaign. Anything could go wrong in her perspective, and she's not having any of it. And its funny I literally laugh the entire duration of the scene.
Yes! Zahra's entire job is making sure that the PR is on point and nothing gets in the way of the president's re election campaign. Of course she's gonna be pissed that the president's son is shagging a literal prince in a hotel room where they so easily could get caught and throw off an entire election without a heads up. That feels like a very normal stress level, bc if they get caught, it's her mess to clean up.@@seanchesteralexisexamen5964
i think that because they took out a lot of the stuff about the re-election, which is part of what makes henry and alex's relationship like a big deal, zahra's reaction seems a bit overkill in the movie
The scene where Zahra catches them in the hotel is one of my favourites. She's hysterical, and it is so true to the book version of her. I feel like it made complete sense for her to react that way given her position and her relationship with Alex (who she clearly loves but also gives endless shit to).
Actress Sarah Shahi's performance as Zarah was actually spot-on because she reflected the behavior of a typical American Presidential Chief of Staff in the last weeks of a Presidential Campaign. Her frenetic, speedy delivery of stressed-out, high-pressure lines was extremely typical.
Yeees! Not to mention that, in addition to being extremely American and a PR, it's the relationship between two people of the same sex (I'm a queer person, but let's face it, the whole world would stop to watch this and it certainly influences the election), two people who hold enormous public power, influence, money - in fact, the main thing in all this is public money, although it wasn't made explicit in the movie - and in the middle of Ellen's re-election campaign, it's more than natural that she went crazy, I thought Sarah's performance was incredible.

@@btsarmyyyforever3781your local library should have copies if you live in the US! It was the most popular fiction book by a new author of 2019, so they should have stocked at least a couple of copies.
I think Zahra just takes her job very, VERY seriously and although Zahra came off rude with her initial reaction to their secret, it emphasizes how their relationship is, in fact, scandalous since they're public figures. Having her be openly critical of their relationship at first reflects how unaccepting the world (as a whole) can still be and highlights how serious they feel toward each other, which makes you want to root for them more. I agree the dialogue was a little abrasive, but we ultimately see that she is supportive and is just doing her job seriously. She's kind of like an adult babysitter lmao, I love it.
most of us that watched rwrb have read the book before. its normal for only movie viewers to find zahra odd. but her behaviour is completely normal. shes iconic
I thought that in her first appearance in the debate scene about the cake chaos it would have been clear that it's her job as PR to maintain good impressions with the media and the public, but apparently it wasn't so much. which is a shame, because not only Zahra is one of my favorite characters in the book, Sarah also did an incredible job and was super faithful to the original character.
Saw this movie without knowing beforehand that it was a book adaptation.. I loved it! This is the kind of rom com we've been waiting for. Lovely story, funny moments and great leads.
Would highly recommend reading the book! It's 10/10, and the movie had to cut out so many important topics (Henry's depression, Alex's acceptance of his bisexuality, the leaked emails full scandal) and characters (Alex's sister, his step dad, Princess Catherine). Your library should have a copy or two, since it was so popular back in 2019.
The film honestly changed my perspective on how people can find happiness in their own ways and it is very unnecessary to think what other people might say abt u. I hope they will make a sequel.. I really hope so cause in one of the interviews, Taylor said that if the fans wanted the sequel, then they will do one. So, peepsss.. DO SUPPORT THIS MOVIEEE !!!

I WISHED for the list alex made for Henry through emails😭and the fight scene was SO different from the movie🚶🏻♀️but their dance kinda made up for it ngl
I read to book and reread it afterwards and honestly I like the pacing of the movie more… While I would love to have more of their E-Mails, the meetings in the book sometimes felt weird to me or rather unrealistic in a way. Seeing as it is just one movie the cutting was necessary and I love that the focus was on them actually become a couple and falling in love rather quickly.
@nicolehoh3905 Oh, I agree. cutting was nessasary. I'm not someone who expects adaptations to be one to one. I just mean you can tell where scenes were removed from the original cut. Some scenes are jumpy and cut short, and I wish there was more tying them together(like in the book)! A little more time for their relationship to breath and develop(just a little like maybe 20 minutes more). Especially in the beginning. I would've liked a little more of the one sided enemies part. Also my biggest flaw is the changing of the motivation for the emails being leaked feels a little more shallow compared to why Richards did it in the book. That's just my opinion tho and really the only problems I have. It was still a great adaptation all things considered.
@@WhatsGnatfor me they should have focused a little bit more on the presidential race because it was a bigger part in the book and in the movie, i didnt really feel anything when they won, it didnt have the same satisfactory effect then the books, also the way that they meet in the books and how they worked it out was so good in the books and i missed that in the movie. I think it was really fast paced in the movie, and they could have fleshed it out a little bit more. But i couldnt imagine better actors to play Alex and Henry ❤❤❤❤
“He’s gonna be sweaty. He’s gonna be Polo sweaty down there. I guess appreciate the musk (scent)” 😂 💀 “Wow this is like a whole scene, I wasn’t expecting (that)” - yesss same. I can’t with Henry’s *deep exhales*
There's a special edition of the book with bonus chapters in Henry's POV!!! it's so cuutteee!!!! "It's 2024. Nobody knows they're engaged." *SCREAMING* Also the director said that the studio asked them to compile bloopers but it was such a disciplined cast there were little to no bloopers. Nicholas is also the director's first choice for Henry and the role of Alex was based on the chemistry with him and ultimately, Taylor had the best chemistry with him so he was casted. And the did the first reading, ON ZOOM. And the chemistry was there.
Thank you for this reaction, I love how much you enjoyed the movie! I've been rewatching it almost every day since it came out, so it's really nice that I could rewatch it again through your reaction :)
The Paris scene was wonderful. Their behavior from their first love scene indicated the building of a serious relationship. Henry brings in the romance, and Alex grows relationship.
Apparently, there is a 3 hour cut of the movie. They didn't have enough time to actually give us more build up. Also, Zahra is the best. I don't recall them actually saying it but she's the President's Deputy Chief of Staff and what happens with the family is part of her job. She's also worked for Ellen since Alex was a kid, since they took his sister out of movie, they play up an aunt-like vibe with her.
I think that when the cake falls over, the two of them are deliberately positioned on the floor so when the camera looks down from above, it looks sort of like they are two figures on TOP of a wedding cake.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE MOVIE!!! I was melting and screaming throughout the whole movie especially when they dance around the statues and "I can't help falling in love" starts playing. Good movie overall!❤

It was too funny when Henry showed up at the bar in the hotel as Alex finished talking to to Miguel and you said for Miguel not to think anything because they could just be friends. Next scene: Alex and Henry tearing each others clothes off...
I agree. I miss 80s/90s/early 2000s rom-coms and YA shows. A lot of us are nostalgic for these iconic movies and shows. With TSITP and Red White and Royal Blue, the studios finally got the memo and the formula for YA iconic shows are back. The cast has amazing chemistry and finally they’re Authentic!

the actor that plays Nora aka Rachel Hilson in this movie is from the 3 season show Love Victor Mia. And Greg Berlanti who helped create Love Simon also helped in this movie.
I see comments that everything seemed fast and rushed, but it wasn't. There were many markers, that showed the passage of time. The wedding was in June (the only month UK has sun ... but let us be generous and say sometime between May and July). They first made contact in September ( Alex had started back at Uni/ school the autumn leaves in the transition ) They talked from September to New Year ( 4 months) The PM's Dinner was in March ... and then the Polo match was in April ..... by the time they went to the Lake House it was summer ( July August so 1 year as the wedding was the summer before.. and Nora's hair had grown out ) at the start the Mom had 14 months to re-election ..so it was all over a year .. first kiss was 4 months in ... first contact..contact was about 6 months in ... it moved at the pace of any long distance relationship
the "my life is the crown and yours is politics, and i will not trade one prison for the other." scene is everything to me, nicholas and taylor did such a great job.
The key was to his childhood home from before his mom won the election. It was like a keepsake that kept him grounded and reminded him of where he came from
Love you Monica. I always adore your effort and love to dress and make yourself in theme. your enthusiasm and positive energy really help me a lot today. I dont know if you know but you mean a lot to me. thank you so much. and of course this film is phenomenal!
My family won’t let me watch this but I had to watch it bc of everyone else watching/reacting to it, especially when I have read the book. You made this my first kind of watch of it a d I’m so grateful this is how you reacted to it. I cried so much even though I’m only watching something react to it and not exactly watching it myself. Thank you ❤
Hey! Since you cannot watch it unless it’s from UA-cam videos, Ethan Clark has made a reaction video too, but with more scenes if you’re interested! He’s also super lovely💜
My only problem with this movie is that it feels too rushed, the transition between being enemy to lover feels very fast to me as someone who also read the book, but i love the performance of both actors
I didn’t read the book (yet) but I definitely agree. A lot of newer movies (in my opinion) seem to be rushed for some reason. Kinda like watt pad fanfics (lol) where they just wanna get to the juicy bits. I still really liked this movie though, it’s cute.
I read somewhere that the movie was initially 3 hours long but had to be cut down into 2, hence why some of the scenes felt cut short. The fast pacing is a bit disappointing for us, readers but it made the movie enjoyable for non-readers so it's okay The book pacing would work for series though
I read this book and I have been dying for the release of the movie. I didn't get to watch it until yesterday and have purposely been avoiding recap commentary videos like this one because I love watching them after I've seen it . Yours happens to be the first one that I found since I watched it and I am subscribing❤
I did read the book and I am enamored by how the film was such a great experience and it does the story well by bringing in old fans plus new fans to watch this phenomenal rom-com. You are one of the nicest wholesome reactors I've seen in a while. I have a suggestion for a show you can watch and would absolutely LOVE. It's called '1883' and it is a prequel series to Paramount's + smash show 'Yellowstone' that chronicles the beginning of the Dutton Family dynasty. The series is only 10 episodes and it is AMAZING. Excited to see what else you will react to in the future. Hugs and kisses from us all. Stay safe out there. 😄❤💯🤗

I waited for this movie for a whole entire year. I bought the book 1st when I found out it’s going to turn into a movie I fell in love with the book. The movie was a nine out of 10.
Sarah is the one who solve a lot of scandal for Alex and She is the one who help Alex mother run for election. So If the news Alex and Henry hang-out was leaked is terrible...so that why she has this attitude. But at the end, she is the one who help Alex and Henrry getting back together :3
As a super fan of the book AND the movie, I love how people that are blind reacting to the story just makes me so happy lmao. I love red white and royal blue it’s my favorite book and IM SO HAPPY SO MANY PEOPLE ARE LOVING IT TOO🩷🩷🩷🩷
When you read the book, the emails make sense, because these two people basically connect on a soul level. They have so much to say to each other that it'd be awkward over text. They go on for PAGES talking to each other about everything, it's really beautiful and sweet. And weirdly old-fashioned, in a way. I love the film, but one thing I wish they could have somehow done better are their email letters, because they're just so lovely.
I loved your reaction, and I understand that the beginning of their story seemed to move fast for the viewers, but it also took place over a period of several months (most of which they were simply texting).
I loved the movie so much it was very true to the book and I feel like it was condensed for the movie so if it was a limited series they could have fitted more from the book into episodes versus a movie. I cried as well at those scenes. So excited to see the book come to life 😢I was waiting to see it and watched it the night of the release date ❤
I'm glad I found this video on your channel. You're so effortlessly funny. Had me giggling so much. Esp the little circle going across the screen with you singing Get Low.
The fact that they got outed was horrible on its own but the emails are much more detailed in the book and if you read them I promise you you will be crying for days

That's just my opinion tho and really the only problems I have. It was still a great adaptation all things considered.
I disagree. I love them both. It's just two different versions of the same love story. If you read an interview with the director he explains it well.
I guess appreciate the musk (scent)” 😂 💀
“Wow this is like a whole scene, I wasn’t expecting (that)” - yesss same. I can’t with Henry’s *deep exhales*
That’s the first thought I had when I saw that scene..like sweaty and all?? But maybe for him 😂😊
The way you sorta foreshadowed what would happen with the emails is crazy 😭
woah woah not too much on zahra. she’s in control of all the PR and making sure ellen wins the election, she’s very strict but she also cares!!
There's a special edition of the book with bonus chapters in Henry's POV!!! it's so cuutteee!!!! "It's 2024. Nobody knows they're engaged." *SCREAMING*
Also the director said that the studio asked them to compile bloopers but it was such a disciplined cast there were little to no bloopers.
Im a simple Bl loving filipino, i click a review of a bl show and i hear tagalog in the beggining, i subscribe.
I seriously enjoyed this movie. The leads killed it. Zahra made me laugh and smile so much. Omg Monica and I said the same thing, close the curtains.
Im so drunk watching your reaction that I’m also crying 😭😭😭😭😭
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE MOVIE!!! I was melting and screaming throughout the whole movie especially when they dance around the statues and "I can't help falling in love" starts playing.
Good movie overall!❤
12:55 I was thinking the same, where is his turn🤣🤣
Like hello? False advertising😂
@@MonicaCatapusan omg! gurl I am still watching the video and here you are replying to me. Gurl from 11 Aug to today I have watched it 10 times. I am obsessed 😭😭😭
P.S. you earned a new sub
I love how you really made the little scenes stand out.. like what they say, do that made the reaction better because people tend to not notice them such as the "baby" part, it really got me.
I loved this movie i just wish we had MORE thats my only complaint it left out a lot especially alex’s character development with him coming to terms with being bisexual
I guess they had to change it to fit it all within 2 hours. But its also nice that Alex already accepts he is bi from the get go.
@@TheCrazeace its nice of course but it didnt give his character as much depth as henrys had especially since they also made his parents stay married and took away his sister
@@IBEtripz Yeah as a non book reader I was shocked when I found out that they left his sister out of the adaptation.
@@TheCrazeace yeah, they claimed they wanted to focus more on the relationship, but they could’ve included her and just cut most of her lines
I thought this would be better as a show in a way because a lot of the development was missing in the movie compared to the books
I’ve watched 5 or 6 times + 4 reactions😅 I’m literally obsessed… And I’ve already read the book 5 times in two weeks 😅😅😅 I just want a physical version of the book but there is not in my country🤗 Such a good Rom-Com😊
you’re not alone sweetheart! 😉
yup, that's me. i bought the collector's edition last week and it's totally worth it... found it on amazon.
I have been so hyped for this movie and completely forgot it came out💀 I sprinted to go watch it when I saw you upload
It was too funny when Henry showed up at the bar in the hotel as Alex finished talking to to Miguel and you said for Miguel not to think anything because they could just be friends. Next scene: Alex and Henry tearing each others clothes off...
I would have loved for Henry to have been a little jealous there.
The movie was mediocre at best.
Gosh we have been seeing you cry left right and centre recently hahahah!!! Love your reactions, they’re just so full of emotions. ❤ I have seen this movie about 6 times now already. I’ve read the book a minimum of 8 times so I am absolutely obsessed with these two and seeing your reaction just makes me love it so much more 🥺
I’ve been in my FEELS lately😭😭😭
@@MonicaCatapusanhaven’t we all with the shows that have been coming out this august… so much excellent representation and so much pure love!! We need more of this
This was one of the most wholesome and entertaining videos about this incredible movie I've seen yet! I'm not even halfway through but I'm already adoring your energy...definitely checking out your other videos after this!
Omg thank you so much!! Welcome to the channel🥰
Omg so I just found your channel like two weeks ago and I’ve been binging your reactions to TSITP and I fell absolutely in love with your aesthetic and just overall sweet and bubbly personality!!! Like girl you’re seriously one of my new favorite channels because watching one of your videos just brightens up my entire day and it’s like self care. 💕💕
Was a big fan. It was a classic early 2000s cotton candy romcom. For some reason they completely stopped making these kinds of movies in the 2010s.
the actor that plays Nora aka Rachel Hilson in this movie is from the 3 season show Love Victor Mia. And Greg Berlanti who helped create Love Simon also helped in this movie.
She was also in This is Us.
the 27 dresses shoutout yes!!!! still remains my fav romcom of all time 😚
I see comments that everything seemed fast and rushed, but it wasn't.
7:54 theyre visiting the cancer ward in honor of Henry's father
the "my life is the crown and yours is politics, and i will not trade one prison for the other." scene is everything to me, nicholas and taylor did such a great job.
7:05 in the book, it was the Rio Olympics.
Because the book started off as an alternate timeline where a woman DID win the 2016 election.
THIS WAS SO ENTERTAINING LOVED ALL YOUR REACTIONS YOURE JUST LIKE ME😭
It takes a lot to make me cry and I needed a whole box of tissues watching this beautiful movie.
14:23 jsjss As soon as she mentioned the curtains I immediately thought of young royals
The fast pacing is a bit disappointing for us, readers but it made the movie enjoyable for non-readers so it's okay
The book pacing would work for series though
should've been a short series
Yeah it is supposed to 3 hours…hope they release the longer version soon
This romcom was for the girls, the gays, and the theys. Absolutely beautiful. Love to see it! 🥹🥹🥹
13:01 HAHA THANK U i haven’t seen any other reactors call him out on that but that prince is 100% put together i laughed so hard at his bow tie even still being on and perfect lmaooo
I watched it more then 10 times it’s amazing I can watch it forever hope they make a second movie
i love how in most of the video, she predicted things that actually were going to happen, and then her reaction when she sees it😂😂.
I never expect to get it right😂
I waited for this movie for a whole entire year.
I love red white and royal blue it’s my favorite book and IM SO HAPPY SO MANY PEOPLE ARE LOVING IT TOO🩷🩷🩷🩷
this was a REAL rom-com. a true movie. loved this so much.
Necesitamos la versión de 3 horas 😭
Sí😭
Your hair is everything 😻
When you read the book, the emails make sense, because these two people basically connect on a soul level. They have so much to say to each other that it'd be awkward over text. They go on for PAGES talking to each other about everything, it's really beautiful and sweet. And weirdly old-fashioned, in a way. I love the film, but one thing I wish they could have somehow done better are their email letters, because they're just so lovely.
We would very much like a follow-up where you recap and review the novel now, please and thank you ♡
The comment about closing the curtains, it was spot on, made in August
Love that you reacted to the movie❤️❤️
this movie should've been LONGER!!!!
Omg, your commentary was so spot on! Literally the same things I said when watching the movie. Love your personality too. Subscribing!
Thank you so much😭 Welcome to the channel!!
Love the vibe she was giving then the moment she mentioned the Tagalog I fell in looooveee even more omg
love your reaction!!!
I'm so glad you did this lol I avoided the trailers even though I read the novel and I'm so obsessed with both! Crying with you ❤
The fact that you didn’t acknowledge the look Henry gave Alex when he left his room the first time they hooked up. A crime
Iv seen This Movie at least 100 times- It’s becoming a favorite movie of mine…!!!!!
When you were talking about opened curtains and privacy i had MAJOR young royal flashbacks 😳
ME TOO ahgskjchdfbjhefbhj sbjf d
I loved your reaction, and I understand that the beginning of their story seemed to move fast for the viewers, but it also took place over a period of several months (most of which they were simply texting).
13:52 this was the first scene they shot together I guess that's why Alex's look is different like haircut and everything 😊
I was so excited because i was waiting for this movie to come out! I read the book and everything 💕
The movie and book changed my life. I see my my boyfriend in a different light, and I'm absolutely loving it.
IM SO EXCITED I LOVE THIS MOVIE
I’ve been waiting YEARS or this and I am completely obsessed with this movie and I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!!
real movies are back!!!
“I’ll break the sound barrier for you.” The way I bAWLED hhhh
one of my favorite adaptations now!
I'm so happy that you notice the giggles, I was smiling the whole time during that scene I just find it so cute and sweet.
the love making scene was so beautiful! props to taylor and nick 👏🏾👏🏾
The fact that they got outed was horrible on its own but the emails are much more detailed in the book and if you read them I promise you you will be crying for days
I have seen like 15 reaction videos to RW&RB but yours is what I took pleasure the most.💖
