    When I purchased the Sigma (rattling) 60 for my A6000, there was no 56 on the market. I am a hobby photographer and have shots portraits with it at wide open without any issues whatsoever. Not only portraits but also some bird shots in the backyard came out crisp and clear. I have only this one out of your list of 5.

    I see you take a lot of your photos on a tripod (as you should). But from a backpacker's perspective, how feasible is it to take high quality, sharp photos handheld with, say... a non stabilised camera such as the a6100 and a non stabilised lens, like the sigma 56mm? Would you say it works fine most of the time? What about in low light conditions? Actually mind if I suggest a video on this topic, haha.

    • @TheWoolyninja4
      @TheWoolyninja4 4 роки тому +1

      In my opinion I think you will find that IBIS and OSS lenses are not a must for handheld photography. If you are reasonably stable, not shacking like a leaf, and using an f1.4 to f2.8 your shutter speed should be plenty fast. The images you get should have no problem being usable. That being said you will always be more consistent with a tripod or other stabilizing assistance. If you are really set on having a tripod and also not hindering your minimalist backpacking weight their are options out there but fair warning they come at some extreme premiums.

    Fantastic job as usual! You left out the Sony Sonar T FE 55mm 1.8 ZA, that is perhaps the sharpest Sony lens, it got to be in any top 5 rankings. The A6000 is the oldest in the 6000 series how dose that sensor compared to the more recent Sony APSC cameras?

    • @SamGrimes93
      @SamGrimes93 4 роки тому

      Same sensor. They never upgraded it on the latest models.

    • @saifaldin_
      @saifaldin_ 4 роки тому

      Rick Mentore Similar sensor since A6000, but dynamic range is a bit better on the newer cameras (starting A6300 onwards) if you shoot RAW. For jpegs, the colours are nicer on the 3 latest bodies. All in all, very small difference; and might not even be worth putting much weight on. The real difference is the processing speed of the newer cameras, allowing faster & more accurate auto focus. So if you shoot a lot of candid & a lot of moving subjects, the newer bodies will fare better. In terms of pure resolving power of the sensors, they’re practically the same.

It would be for sure my second place. It's sharp, stabilized, fast, sufficiently well build, and super-duper cheap. As of 2021, would you still recommend the a6000 over a canon m50 II or dslr, like the 850d? They are currently a similar cost range, and you're earlier video has swung me around to believing in Sony, I'll be using it for photography whilst on walks/hikes, so landscapes, and close-up's of plants/animals. What comes off to me as important, is usability, which the mirror-less exceed in with their light weight and compact designs, and battery life, which is where they tend to fall flat. The newer sony A series are out of the price range, but the A6000 is within, what are you're thoughts?

    Thank you for all this beautiful videos that u r posting they help a lot. I am interested in using my a6300 for sooting videos and I noticed from the link you put in the description that the camera u used to shoot this video is a full frame camera the Sony a9 and the lens a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 but I will go go for the Sigma 56mm with my a6300.

    I wonder how the Fuji 56mm 1.2 compares to the Sigma 56mm 1.4? I know you can't get the Sigma for the Fuji system but I'm curious anyway. 🙂

    My Portrait Favorites on my (sold) A6400 are the Samyang 35mm 1.4 AF, Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 and the Sony 85mm 1.8 (wich i use now on the a7 III) & The Sigma APSC Lenses 30mm & 60mm 2.8 i had, are also nice but i prefer full frame lenses.

    I have 56mm lens and it is excellent. I am a zoom guy, but switch to this for portraits. Great video! Keep them coming.

    I have both your number 1 & 2 lenses (Sigma 56 and Sony 85) and love em' both. Using them on my a6600. I also have the Sigma 60 f2.8 but haven't used it in a long time.

      can you tell me which one do you like best, 56 or 85. Any problems when you use 85 for shoting, something like stand away far from your model ?

    This is a very good selling point for APS-C cameras in general. The Sigma 56mm F1.4 lens is excellent, costs about $400, and weighs 0.6lbs. The equivalent in Full Frame (perhaps the Sigma 85mm F1.4) costs $1200 and weighs 1.4lbs. Basically FF costs and weighs twice as much.

    You should also mention the Viltrox 85mm F1.8. It's cheaper then the Sony FE 85mm 1.8 and delivers similar results, but anyway great Video.

    I know that you primarily review Sony cameras, or Sony mount lenses. But I think it will be interesting if you could compare the sharpness of the Sigma 56mm f1.4, with Sony's APS-C rival, the Fuji 56mm f1.2. Both APS-C (1.5x crop), and both 56mm.

    as all A6xxx models are crop sensors. do the Focal Length of the lenses comes already with the conversion? I mean, is the sigma lens focal length real 56mm or do we need to do the conversion for the crop sensor camera?

    Great video as always Arthur! I was and still am looking foward for your review of the new Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 autofocus lens. I was sure i'd encounter some mention of it in this video, since its the first low cost autofocus kinda portrait lens we got on the APS-C E-mount side of things. Please be sure to take a look at it!

    You have so many cameras and so many lenses yet I have to see a video of camera gear with a blown-out background window. The top of your Imac is basically invisible and it's very irritating.
