Hello & welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
    My Story.
When I was an undergrad nutrition student at Boston University, my digestive health issues were at their worst. I remember standing in the grocery store re-reading the label on a box of crackers, filled with overwhelm and confusion. I felt totally lost as to what to eat or how to eat due to my digestive issues. After dozens of doctor appointments, ER visits, and medical tests, my anxiety was at an all-time high and my list of “safe foods” was dwindling every day. When my doctors were at a loss for advice and my condition was not improving - I knew I needed to take my healing into my own hands. When I finally realized that my mind and gut were connected - everything changed. I prioritized self-care and mindfulness practices in order to pull myself out of constant “fight or flight mode”. Instead of restricting, I started nourishing my gut and living my life again. Much to my surprise, my digestive system responded and began to heal. Through the power of individualized nutrition and lifestyle changes, my health (and my life) transformed. Fast forward to today - I’m a Gut Health Registered Dietitian and recovered from severe IBS/GERD. My approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in science and built on the foundation that everyone has unique nutrition and lifestyle needs. It’s my mission (and greatest joy) to help you discover your root causes of imbalance, and share with you evidence-based, integrative wellness tools - so you too can heal your gut, repair your relationship with food, and live your absolute best life.

@@MollyPelletierRD hi there Molly, thank you for sharing this information with us. May i ask of the 2 capsules per supplement was it recommended to you by your doctor or you just decided to take 2 capsules? Also is your licorice root a DGL or its plain licorice root. According to an article I've read, consuming licorice root on a long term basis has a negative effects in your health such as hypertension, decrease in Potassium and retention of sodium in the body. That's why its safer to consume DGL Licorice. Your comments is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Plus Inner leaf aloe juice; zinc carnosine (people with reflux NEED this. I use brand called Doctor’s Best), mastic gum. Those plus the slippery elm and DGL all work. I healed it for years. Then a big bout of ongoing stress/depression cause it to come back, plus ulcer & eczema. I believe I knocked my gut out of balance with my emotions & thoughts, which made me susceptible to these issues. Whole-self support is necessary, I believe, to really heal. Feeling safe in the world, trusting life / trusting myself / replacing acidic thinking with a more peaceful focus…These are so important along with dietary and supplemental support. ❤️❤️❤️

      *What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
      Ephesians 2:8-9

Luckily, I started looking into these natural remedies early on and have made an appointment with a naturopath who specializes in Gut health so I'm excited. Thank you for sharing your story! You were really clear and informative about your experience. I can relate to this because I am struggling with GERD. My symptoms are heartburn on the chest and back and it feels horrible. I took Nexium for 2 months and after that I feel better and stop the PPI. Then I was fine for 9 months and I started with symptoms again. I went back on Nexium for a month and then I was fine again for another 8 months. The problem is that the symptoms came back after time. Is so frustrating and gave me anxiety and some kind of depression because is so annoying to feel bad everyday. Control your diet, be patient, be positive, and understand your disease is the key to feel better. It takes time but little by little you will feel good again.

I have been suffering from acid reflux on and off for a year now. My doctor always recommended I take PPIs or Famotidine. Initially, PPIs work pretty well and I have no symptoms after taking 2 weeks and lasting about 8 months, but then it came back again. I want to remove PPI from my diet as it does give you lots of side effects when you take a longer period of time. Then I started to take 20mg of famotidine before breakfast and dinner, but one 20 mg of pill doesn't last long enough to the dinner time, and I was having acid reflux after lunch... After watching your video, I started to take 2 tablets of DGL 400 mg, and 1 table spoon of slipper elm with water for each meals, I'm able to gain great control on my acid reflux along with famotidine 20 mg twice a day. I see significant effects just 4 days of taking these supplements. Let's hope i can cure or improve further my acid reflux without any famotidine after a month!

You have done a good job of putting lots of info about foods possibly causing and lifestyle, and herbs !! Would add about licorice , if not deglycerated(?) can increase BP, and also effects cortisol (think it keeps at level but stops from making more). Have heard of Aloe drink also being helpful. The herbs might be available (often organic) from bulk jars at the health food store, so can try a tiny bit. A food, symptom diary can help figure what might be a problem. Is nice when we can help ourselves and others !

A problem that I experienced was the relaxing of my esophageal sphincter (LES). The solution I discovered was L. Tryptophan & Melatonin. It's been found that these trigger your LES to close in preparation for lying down to sleep. I take 2-3 L. Tryptophan throughout the day & a 5 mg melatonin at bedtime. This only works for me because my LES wasn't working correctly, but I felt a difference upon taking my very first tryptophan pill. My regiment includes other supplements (including the slippery elm you mentioned) & I've gotten off PPI's completely and now slowly but surely weening off Pepcid (once at 80 mg per day, now down to 20 mg every other day). I'm also on a low-acid diet which has definitely helped. Thanks for your video!

I hope I can be fully cured like you Molly.I will keep eating the slippery elm and licorice for another 3-4 months. Can I know what else you did till you fully cured? I have awful gerd, I ended up in the hospital for 5 days this month bc I’d been throwing up for over a week with so much bile and stomach pain. Licorice root is the only thing that’s helped me, I’ve tried a few acid reflux medicines including prescription. I’ve been taking the licorice for a couple years now, but I didn’t know that it needed to be taken before food. I’d often take after and get some relief, will have to switch to beforehand and try the slippery elm too.

      @@mlagxmer5417 hi
yes there was a point in my life when i was tired of getting acid reflux so i started researching on this topic and try to heal myself on my own as indian doctors would just give you antibiotics nothing else
First of all it is important to understand why do we get acid reflux
It is because of low stomach acid ..low stomach acid can be bcoz of various reasons eating a lot of junk food , sugary foods , bacterial infections , stress , inflammations from certain foods and so on
So after watching so many videos amd reading so many blogs and trying so many things
      What works for me is
1)Drinking 1 glass of celery juice every morning empty stomach (this will kill bacteria and increase stomach acid so very important)
2)Going gluten free and dairy free
      3) Stopped eating fried ,oily , sugary foods
      4) also packaged foods has preservatives so big so to that too
      5) lastly managing stress
If anyone will do all these things i can gurantee that they can cure acid reflux no matter how bad and old it is
Note: in my case i had low stomach acid since childhood and because of that i had malabsorption , fatigue, bacterial infections and later inflammation

Thank you, your video was so helpful! I’ve been suffering with silent reflux for a while it seems, now I have a clicking when I swallow and my throat burns especially during the night and when I wake due to stomach acid now, it is getting worse. Do you think the acid could have caused the clicking? my throat on waking is so dry. My GP has prescribed omeprazole, but it hasn’t helped. I’m so worried that I’ve damaged my throat and oesophagus. I haven’t had a test on whether I have low or high stomach acid, but as I’m over 50 I think it’s probably low acid causing my symptoms as low stomach acid causes fermentation and bacteria through not breaking down carbs properly and thus causing gas which causes pressure so that stomach acid leaks into my oesophagus and throat.

Im 17 and a junior in high school & i think im experiencing acid reflux, its been happening since august. i get no heart burn but all of the symptoms seem to point to acid reflux and im on the 11th day of prilosec and it doesn’t seem to be making it go away. Im not sure what to do and this scares me at times

definitely recommend seeing a good GI doc and a registered dietitian!

I have LPR (silent reflux). I have no pain or gagging, just a hoarse voice and I can't speak for long periods or loudly.
I am drinking slippery elm tea in the morning. Do you know if DGL is similar to licorice root?
Other things I did was eliminate coffee, tea and move to a Mediterranean diet.

I was highly doubtful at first if these would work...but Holy shit....after a week my GERD is WAY improved. This stuff is amazing! Question though...for long term up to how many weeks should I be on these? Should I take a break period after some time and then resume another cycle? Or is there a goal of only taking as needed?

Careful with slippery elm if you have kidney stones. And Liquorice for blood pressure

Chicory root alt coffee maybe , carob for the chocolate fix as long as you can tolerate and lastly, roobos tea or chamomile. As the two work for this condition but dilute on forst trial marshmallow root. Licorice is unfortunately not always safe for thyroid if you have that issue. So be careful. Some cam be hard of other organs. Mint is a hit or miss . I have bile acid post gallbladder removal and chronic gastritis to esophagitis hashimoto's. The gerd only comes like it's a response to no food or too much in gut. I eat like i nibble but still because fat is tricky it can be a bother. Bone broth. Low sodium if poss is amazing. Good luck!
