      I reserved a tour of Vancouver and Capilano Suspension Bridge. But after seeing your tour of Whistler I am considering Whistler instead. Do you recommend it more than Vancouver?

      @@RickWeaver5544 What hotel did you stay at in Banff? Was it the Fairmont Banff Springs as part of your RM tour?

      @@alng348 We did stay at the Fairmont. We stayed a couple extra days at our expense to do more sightseeing in the area. I would suggest booking a car rental in Banff in order to do area touring.

    I looked at this trip but ultimately chose Via's Canadian because I wanted the sleeper train experience. I actually rode the Canadian from Vancouver to Calgary (through Banff) back in 86

      Not sure how it was in 1986 but we were not aware of a sleeper train for a Vancouver to Banff/calgary trip. We wanted a first class luxury experience. Plus you would miss so much of the beautiful scenery at night .
      We are taking a Via Canada train this fall from Winnipeg to Churchill on a sleeper train. That is a 44 hour trip. Going to see the polar bears. Very much looking forward to the trip.

    Hi. Great video, many thanks for sharing and posting. Wonderful overview. What was the name of the very pretty lake you visited and enjoyed, after the frozen one (Lake Louise?)?

    Hello, we plan to take the same route. Could you please recommend hotels at Vancouver (and how you got to railroad station) and Banff (after you got off the train) and how you arranged your transportation from Banff Rail Station to Banff hotel? Did you stay extra days at Banff? Thank you.

      The trip we booked on the ROCKY MOUNTAINEER included the first night at a hotel in Vancouver and the next two subsequent days. We did opt to go early to Vancouver and stayed at the same hotel but we paid for the extra night(s). They had a shuttle from the hotel to the train station the morning of the departure. We also opted to stay additional nights in Banff and stayed at the same hotel but we paid for the additional nights directly ourselves. I am not remembering the names of the hotels off the top of my head but they are the same ones the Rocky Mountaineer trip used. BTW plan on renting a car in Banff if you stay additional days, you’ll need it to visit the many incredible sites around the area.

      @@RickWeaver5544 Thank you for the prompt and informative response. So they helped you book hotels before & after the trip. I was under the impression they only booked hotel for you between day 1 & day 2. I assume they also transported you from Banff rail station to your hotel? Did you have to call them to have them help you book or just used their website for extra hotel bookings? Thank you again.

    • @RickWeaver5544
      @RickWeaver5544  Рік тому +1

      We had to book the extra nights on the front and end of the trip ourselves. We made the reservations with each hotel online for the extra nights and paid for them separately.
      The Rocky Mountaineer had shuttles to the different hotels waiting at the train station to transport us.

    Just booked this route for October 2023. Haven’t booked a hotel in Vancouver yet. Thinking of getting the two days before the train trip. Do you suggest getting a hotel close to the train depot? Also I see charter buses are used, do we need to get on one of those or can we just get to the depot on our own? Thanks. Great video.

    • @RickWeaver5544
      @RickWeaver5544  2 роки тому +1

      You doing exactly what we did...go 2 days early to sightsee in Vancouver! We stayed at the Fairmont Hotel (900 W Georgia) because that was the hotel the railroad company used to pick up and transport travelers to the depot. As long as they don't change their preferred hotel it is convenient to stay there. They take you (in a charter bus) to the depot the morning of your first day. The hotel is in a good area for sightseeing and enjoying the city.
      You'll love the trip!

    Hi great video. I will be traveling on the RM next yr same route- Vancouver to Banff. Can you tell me in your opinion, which side is the best for views? Ty

    • @RickWeaver5544

      You will have assigned seats, we were on the left side facing forward. They were good seats and people moved around so you could sit elsewhere at certain times. The views were great on both sides but I would choose the left.

    While I really enjoyed your video, I wished that the resolution or focus could have been better. Also, when you panned, it seemed like the frame rate was low so that the result was not as smooth as it could have been. Thus, while I don't mean to be critical, I was frustrated since your subject matter was of great interest to me.
