    I could immediately tell the points expressed in this video were influenced by “The 7 habits of highly effective people”. These principles are the foundation for being a good man. If you work towards acquiring these traits, you will undoubtedly be respected by and valuable to the people you encounter.

    That's a really clear explanation! I recommend reading "The 7 habits of highly effective people" from Stephen Covey if you want to do more with this :)

      For some reason when I made this it never crossed my mind. I had mad so many other videos on the chapters of this book I figured I had covered it. I'll add it to the description, it's a great read!

    • @dorothyyawe8169
      @dorothyyawe8169 3 роки тому

      @Umar Farooq you need to expand your reading cos there are so many books all over the world on this topic so it can't be Stephen Covey alone on this topic.

    Great video, thanks for posting. Could you please let me know what you meant by: “I focus on the roots of my character before the leaves of my personality ethic”. Many thanks.

    • @AchieversWorkshop
      @AchieversWorkshop  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Mark. So to me, there's a 3 step process in how we live our day to day lives.
      That process is Be > Do > Have. Let's break it down.
      If you BEcome the type of person you want to be, you will DO the things you want to do, and HAVE the outcomes you want.
      Many people try to skip "Be", which is character development, and go directly to "Do", which is essentially your personality, your actions, and your behaviors. Focusing on your personality first will not lead to lasting changes, because to make lasting changes, you first have to focus on changing your values.
      To change your values, it's starts with character development. It's about setting and prioritizing values to you that are important enough to you to drive change. If you greatly value being a pleasant person, you will develop a personality that will help you build better relationships. If you greatly value physical fitness, you will take the actions that allow you become more fit. But it has to start with first changing your values, the roots of your character, or it won't lead to lasting change in your personality, behaviors, and actions.

    • @AchieversWorkshop
      @AchieversWorkshop  3 роки тому

      In short, the roots of your characters are what you value most. And the leaves of your personality are the actions and behaviors you take based off your values.

      I made this video back when I was a senior in high school because it really helped me and I wanted to share the information! Sorry that the video is a bit drawn out, I wasn't a very good story teller when I was 18. Regardless, wish you the best Emiko!
