And the kill on the bug was from the impact of a Drop Pod, dropped in from low orbit, if I'm not mistaken

Helldivers 2 quickly became one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. I vividly remember playing on one of the Automaton planets with 3 other guys, 2 of them were new players. the mission was going kind of well, until one guy shot the other with a high powered machine gun. and when the reinforcement came in, the hellpod landed DIRECTLY on top of the guy with the machine gun, crushing him into a fine crimson paste😭.

To be fair to that charger, it wasn't the leg fractures that killed the helldiver, it was the sudden impact trauma to the head against the big rock that they were launched into that did them in.
Ah, appears someone already pointed it out.
"is there any weapon that'd use this kind of energy that'd cause this kind of damage" ---- Only thing i can think of, would be a Bunker-Buster that never explodes. Their literally designed to punch through multiple layers of dirt and even concrete before exploding. Closest thing to the 'drop-pods' used in Helldivers would be a Bunker-Buster that is simply set not to explode.
Also there was a time when America was experimenting with sending Tungsten I believe rods into a satellite then using them as a guided muntion. It got canned because of the energy needed to actually get something that weighty up there, then guide it down is insane compared to just... shooting a missile at it.
@@Orrissan I was thinking this too, I believe it also went by the name "Rods of god" I also heard another reason that the weapon was ultimately stopped was because upon entering orbit the rod would destabilize and aim the wrong way and would miss by a considerable amount. Take what a say with a grain of salt cause I can't completely remember where I heard it from.

7:21 The beam did not hurt it, the beam marks where something will fall, in this case a resupply, and it landed in the bug so it killed it.
Not a military type, but I can safely say that the big armored bug was killed by the uh, space-corps equalient of the MRE truck slamming into it. That was a supply pod dropping onto its head.
Yeah the blue laser was just a guiding beacon for the supply pod. Not just a truck slamming into it, but a bullet shaped truck falling from low orbit
That impact kill 3/4 through video wasn't from the legs getting hit, it was the head slamming into the rock after that, that kill them.
for thazt last one, it wasn't an energy weapon. the light you saw was basicly a laser pointer emitted from a little system that was stuck on the bug. what killed it was the bluntforce from a bullet shaped pod big enought to host a full sized adult human standing.
To keep in mind with the kill from the charger (the large heavily armored bug) he got hit in the legs, but his skull being launched into the rock was the killing blow.

To answer your question about a type of weapon that would cause that injury, I think the closest would be the CBU-107. The CBU-107 is a cluster munition that’s rather unique in that the submunitions are entirely inert, meaning there’s no explosive force. Instead, the cluster bomb contains a TON of tungsten rods of varying sizes. Basically it’s an air dropped shotgun with the upside of having virtually zero chance of unexploded ordinance as the only explosive part is what’s used for dispersal.

7:15 One thing comes to mind. The AGM-114 Hellfire is a guided missile that's so accurate, its "warhead" are a set of knives that pop out like deadly fins. No explosion, just pure kinetic penetration.
I literally went to the ER 3 weeks ago because I missed a step trying to get back downstairs to play Helldivers. The stairs were dark because the light was off. Ended up dislocating my pinky toe. It's better now, but still a little sore.
BTW one of the tips in Helldivers 2 when dropping in a planet said that the government manages everything including genetics

While not necessarily in this case, we do have bomb types that use very powerful penetrators in order to deliver a bomb through a bunker. Some weapons, like the RPG-47 from russia, make use of a shaped charge which is actually not explosive by traditional means, instead shaping a super-heated stream of metal into something like a spike. This spike retains the weapon's energy but in a very narrow form, which then can explode inwards inside a tank or light vehicle. Some variant warheads are more fragmentary. In addition, several tank rounds are less explosive and more solid for much the same reason. It really depends on what you are trying to do and how. The balance of munitions is a cross section between explosive ability and penetration ability. A human is a soft target, so you want to favor heat and fragmentation over a wide area. But a hard target like a vehicle or fortification will favor penetration. Some bombs as well focus on a delayed fuse for certain targets, which is how several air dropped ordnances work like bunker busters, letting the penetrator take them a theoretical distance into a bunker before detonating. Of course if it only wedges, it makes a big hole for the next round.

The USA army uses a 50000 watt laser cannon to flash melt missiles on some Burke class destroyers pretty sure if it melts harden steel it’d probably cut a person into pieces
The charger (big bug at the end that got killed by the beam) was actually crushed by a supply drop, so think of it like something really heavy landing on them really fast

7:20 There was discussion of putting tungsten rods the size of telephone poles into orbit in order to drop them on a target. The kenetic energy from such a thing would be the equivalent of a small nuclear detonation without the radiation but the cost of getting 24,000 pound metal rods into orbit was $230 million per projectile so the idea was dropped.
I had that throwing up bile, usually yellow and/or green, especially when I haven't been able to keep anything down for days, sometimes even a week or more.

with how casually you're saying you've seen these types of injurys, i hope that doctors like you, and doctors in general get the vacation time they need. the fatigue ones psyche must take from this line of work has to be brutal.
To point out at 3:40, realistically only 3-5 of those hits should have been needed to kill the player, but if you look at the player's health, they are under the influence of a Stim. The Stim in question is essentially a healing item that when used (Via stabbing the needle into your neck to administer the drugs) causes your health and stamina to rapidly regenerate. It generally lasts for only 3-4 seconds (5-6 seconds with the Medkit armor bonus) and you can carry up to 4 stims, or 6 with the Medkit armor bonus.
So this girl is essentially taking blows that should have liquified her internal organs, but due to the stim, she is rapidly regenerating and healing faster than the bugs can injure her, permitting her enough time to escape with her life... even if the stim's effects expired and she left that meat-grinding event badly hurt.
Also I'm not sure if you noticed, but you can have limbs crippled in the game while still alive. These are generally indicated by the respective icon at the bottom of the screen. A leg (Left or Right) indicates the leg's broken and it compromises your ability to move, a arm (Left or Right) Indicates a broken arm and compromises your ability to aim or control recoil, a torso indicates critical damage to the vital organs and causes you to bleed out, and... there is no head icon because a crippled head is incompatible with life... but all of that (Sans the head) can be treated with a Stim.
Yea i been in the stairs situation. Well my dad at least. Fractured a disk in his lower back. Doctor literally told us nothing they can do to fix it and my dad going to have to rest and it will heal over time, which it did. Stairs are no joke

There's an armor piece that stops you bleeding out if you have your chest hemorrhage. Completely unrealistic, but very, very useful.
i'm pretty sure the bug at the end wasnt exploded by a laser or anything, just got crushed to death by what's basically a crate of guns
The last clip wasn’t an energy weapon it was a beacon for the supply drop from orbiting warships that then dropped the supply drop at terminal velocity onto the armored creature called a charger.

I always love seeing the intro because it's so corny - that 'blood splatter' is very blatantly someone throwing jam or reddened syrup on him because it does not splatter like actual blood.

That last one was just a resupply canister. He just threw the target beacon on the bug and the ship up above dropped the goods on its head. Most objects at terminal velocity can kill!

I have been looking at nursing, so my question is what is it like to work in the medical field and what should I know/learn to become a RN? Within the games lore, bile spewere and bile titans store acid within their abdomen which they will launch at anything that threatans them, nursing spewers do the same thing but as their name suggest, they use the funny liquid to nurse baby terminids
I should mention the in game tips mentions the acid from spreaders can melt titanium armor used by helldivers.

If we are talking energy weapons then yes we have some extremely lethal lasers that can carbonize wood on contact and can cut diamond, styropyro is a UA-camer who does homemade lazer content and well it’s scary what we can do in a garage with some know how with Amazon.

Yes, there are several kinetic weapons, that have been in use in the armed forces for some time. There are tungsten-based tank rounds, and artillery rounds. That essentially fire a tungsten rod at incredible speeds, that have no payload or explosives, but rely purely on a very dense metal striking with huge newtons of kinetic force. The aftermath of which is terrible I might add. I'd guess one of the best/worst ways to go. So, they aren't used very often. Also, traditional high explosive rounds and jacketed rounds are much cheaper and nearly as effective.
How do you feel about the "stim" health item that the helldivers stab into their neck to regain all health and even heal injuries and additional damage for a few seconds?

When the helldiver got hit with a charger at 6:09 they didn't die from the actual charger they died from being splattered on the rock afterwards (they got hit head first)
I think the laser or plasma staple gun is better than the metal staple version one

But the laser one, it just melt the skin tissues to sew up the open wound and the high temperature can also play as a disinfection step.

The robots use energy weapons so those "bullet" wounds are caused by lasers, not solid projectiles.
more correctly 'plasma'..... or particle accelerator blasts. Lasers dont exactly have individual 'rounds', it'd be a short continuous line from weapon to target for x-time its fired... :)
