I'm about to rebuild my first engine, a '99 YZ400F. I have no idea how well I'll do, and a friend who's much more experienced than I am told me how foolish of a task this was, but I'm feeling pretty confident with videos like these. I'll let you know how it goes!
im 16 and im rebuilding my first dirt bike i was really dumb and didn't think about checking my oil and was out on my first real ride was about 3 hours into it and my bike just stop running and stoped really hard its a 2007 rmz 250 and i havnt really found a good video series for my bike so im going to watch all of your videos and ill keep it updated if anyone is interested or need to know anything about a Suzuki 250 4 stroke i have the hole bike tear down to frame and am going to be putting more time and money into her then the bike probably worth but who cares keeps me out of trouble if im in my dads shop all night for a couple weeks 🤣
my dad did help me do a compression test and it was like at 25 30 psi and i did take the valve over off and did this measuring thing and its about .15 out of time on the exhaust and so much out of time on my intake that i didn't have a big enough shim thing so i think with how low my oil was my valves probably seized and my piston hit them the reason i think that is bc both were out of time so they probably got stuck in between the the exhaust and intake stroke (in that order) so im going to tear the engine all the way down and if its top end is messed up to bad like the cylinder walls are scared and the piston is gone im going to do a full race build with a big bore and race piston and maybe even a stage 2 hot cam im going to comment though out the hole series if anyone has any idea for the build or knows something i don't help a bro out please

Thanks for the vid. So, you never mentioned how to deal with the auto decompression. Doesn’t it keep the exhaust slightly opened at TDC? How do I get the valves closed during the leak down test? Thnx!
your videos are sick, I am literally picking the bike im about to buy based on whether you have made a video of it or not so i know how to take it apart if i have to lmao
please help me i have yz426f its hard to kick can i see the problem and when the bikee getting worm when i turn it of kick again won t start until geting cold and starts again any solution
Would you recommend rebuilding the engine just because? I want to see how the engine is and see if I can put it together again. I also have a hunch that it ran without a good oil for a while
Hey, my name is Owen and I own a 2009 Honda crf250r. I am having issues when my bike is hot starting. I’ve been told that it might be the valve shims but they are in spec. I re jetted the bike to make it run better but have no luck. When I start it it will either run good, or won’t want to idle and be hard to start. When I let it sit and cool down for a bit it starts well. My spark plug has plenty spark. Do you know what may be wrong with my bike?
Cause that dog is not top dead center the straight mark is . I made that mistake once and aligned the marks to that . There is a mark after the letter h it looks like and I only Yamaha does this

Check ur timing make sure you go TDC then refer to your manual make sure ur aligned and double check urself

Top end probably head gasket failure or got water in your exhaust.
