Watching their performance of this song all those years ago started me down a rabbit hole of barbershop music that, to this day, I have not come out of...and don't plan to.
Me too! Seeing that original contest performance (on UA-cam) got me on a path that eventually made me fall in love with singing again after many years of struggle. I was in Charlotte for this last performance and was bawling by the end. What a special moment that was.
Dr Henry with surely one of the best Bass voices of all time. His master craftmanship in all aspects of singing is just outstanding...so glad I got to see him with the GHG in Honolulu in 98 and meet after..one of my heroes...just a total class act.. ❤
Tears in my eyes knowing this is their retirement performance. Thank You, Crossroads, for sharing your music with us. And Thank You, AIC, for sharing this unforgettable performance.
Still remember a year ago when I went down the barbershop rabbit-hole and my life was changed forever. I remember the intense goosebumps, the utter shock I experienced as I listened to this song for the first time. Crossroads, thank you for touching all who have had the pleasure who have listened to you. Lucky Old Sun may be retired but it certainly lives on in everyone who has had the gift to listen.
I tell you this I went down the barbershop rabbit hole.... and let's say it's been a wonderful 5 years of learning and loving the style of barbershop 😊
That G Major scale in the bass part at the end never gets old!!! It really gives it that profound ending and nobody does it better than this iconic quartet! This one will live on.
Small glitches don't diminish a lifetime career. Just goes to show the enormous amount of work and time required to stay at the very top of your performance even for the best groups. One of the great quartets of all time. You could tell this performance meant a lot to these guys. And the fact that the little glitches still bugged the heck out of them proved it. Jim Henry nailed his last phrase at the end of the song.
As emotional it was for us to hear them sing there signature song l can only imagine what it was for them to realize this was the last time singing together on stage 😢😢 you guys are the best ! Thanks for the beautiful harmonies
Wow. Amazing. As a kid i loved “lucky old sun”. Was reminded of that song today from a completely different song. Cant believe they retired now. I hope theyre all doing well.
They maybe retiring but what music they have left us to enjoy. The harmony is as close to perfect as God will allow. I've enjoyed you for years and hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I will enjoy listening to your music from now on😢❤😊Enjoy your retirement and know that you've given us the greatest gift... music.
Everybody has a favourite quartet (or many) but a sound like these 4 voices together will never be heard again. Sure there were hickups, but it proves that they, although we'd like to think it, aren't perfect. I find this a very refreshing performance, free from the constraints of a contest stage - and the most famous descending major scale in history 🙂
Wonderful sound. The solid bass hasn’t lost anything since his Gas House Gang days, where I recall getting similar goose-bump twinges listening to them. Great legacy to leave behind, guys. Congrats on a spectacular career, and all the best to you in retirement!
My favourite song Crossroads have done, made even more emotional because they're retiring. Thanks for all your amazing music you've done guys. Ya'll inspired me to start actively practicing barbershop music
The tag certainly wasn't as crisp or in tune as when they won it all 14 years ago. But there's no mistaking the emotion behind the song as well as the impact they've had on the barbershop community. Thank you Crossroads, you will be deeply missed.
AIC quartets still do a ton of shows and outreach for barbershop, so they're retiring from performing together as a whole. Barbershop isn't just about competing

One of the very best!! Is it too soon to ask for the reunion??
never too early
Tim, your solo version is also truly amazing. I can't get enough of that.
It truly is my brother!
Thank you, Crossroads. ❤️🔥
Thank goodness for the internet to continue to provide us with the blessing of your INCREDIBLE voices anytime we want.
It’s strange how that with time, an amazing voice only ages like a fine wine. 🍷 It gets even better.

I’ve never heard Mike chip the first note of that solo. Not. One. Single. Time.
GOAT

I think some of the "glitches" might be attributed to the difficulties of knowing this is the last time they would be singing this song.
I’m not crying, you’re crying😢
Nothing but respect.❤
Gold Metal Performance! Crossroads owns Lucky Old Sun! WOW!
As emotional it was for us to hear them sing there signature song l can only imagine what it was for them to realize this was the last time singing together on stage 😢😢 you guys are the best ! Thanks for the beautiful harmonies
One of the best quartets ever, they still sound wonderful, and they will be missed.
Such a warm sound. These guys will go down in history.
Already have
Dr. Henry sounds as good now as he did with the Gas House Gang. Timeless.

"I'll take 'videos that get a thumbs up before I even watch them' for $1,000, Ken."
This is one that shouldn't be done again. Nobody but nobody will even come close.
The end of an Era. We'll done Gentlemen. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
It blows my mind that they won 14 years ago this coming July!! My, how fast the time goes... just flies right on by!

I mean, how many times can one watch this - ? Still the most perfect BBS anything ever....

I had the pleasure of singing with them 5 years ago in Wisconsin. They are amazing.
This has got to be some of the best to EVER do it.
To me, they have always been THE standard. Absolutely mind-blowing
One of the greatest from one of the greatest. What legends are these.
I’m new to barbershop but, holy crap… these guys are awsome!
I grew up listening to the harmony of this song on a PIANO! This is perfect! Every chord is matched! Thank you!
man those guys were legendary, shame they wont be round any longer
If a performance moves you it's perfect and this certainly moved me
Can’t believe it’s been over a decade since they won! Amazing how phenomenal they still sound.
These guys are FABULOUS!
Absolutely my favorite quartet!
Absolutely out of this world. These four will always blow my mind. Fantastic performance.
Truly inspirational. By the end of the tag my goosebumps had goosebumps.

Gosh already 14 years since they won it.
Such a deep, warm , sincere sound. One of the greats for sure.
This is one of my top three fav quartets
Same here - maybe even top 2
😎😎😎
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Wow, it's been quite a trip and I can't believe it's over. This made me very emotional.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Clean as they ever were
I really wish I was there.
The b1 melts in the mix, fantastic ear! Love it!
I was the 1000th like!
Until you've done this, no one has any idea how difficult it is. Plus I love this song.
I was waiting for this one.
Beautiful moment.
BRAVO!!!!
So many tones! Much bass
Wow!
Holy Undertones!
When was this performance?
AIC Show in Charlotte last summer

Thank you Sir!
😎😎😎
Why do they have retirement performances when AIC member quartets can't compete anyway?
AIC quartets still do a ton of shows and outreach for barbershop, so they're retiring from performing together as a whole. Barbershop isn't just about competing
