Spring didn’t work for me either- tried with several different nibs. What has worked was 2 pieces of medical tape - one over the eye of the nib, another wrapped around the nib. I did it to nibs like Hunt 101 or Gillot 303, though, haven’t tried the Pumpkin one like in your video. To me, difference is more than worth fiddling with tiny pieces of plaster 😅
i tried this a while ago with some post office model nibs that cant even do 18 lines. only i didnt have a spring, but i had thin wire from model armaturing. wrap it around something thin and you get the same appearance. but while a coil holds ink, it doesnt necessarily let go. also a bugger to clean, so then you have a clogged spring making things even worse than they were. one day ill find an acceptable mod for those things.
I've seen some a lot better than my terrible attempt. I was thinking of trying some but then I realized that I was trying to turn my dip pen into something that I already had. A pen without the dip.
@@Ashsibe I imagine they would also make the nibs harder to clean, you'd have to remove the reservoir every time to wipe the ink or have it dry inside.
As in buying a refill for a uni-ball Jetstream of a different size? Sounds easily done. I haven't done it myself as I've been loosing interest in disposable roller ball pens. Although I did once try to inject ink into a empty Jetstream with a syringe. That was another thing that didn't work too well.
@@Ashsibe I still go back to your ballpoint test every now and then. The 0.28mm jetstream has a very thin refill(same as in multi pens)and expensive, so im thinking of putting the 0.28mm nib into the larger 0.38mm- 1.0mm etc refill.

There are reservoirs sold specifically for dip pens, but I don't know if they work with all types of nibs, as I've never used one myself.

The only dip pen enhancer I heard of that has any success is taking sand paper and lightly sanding the inside of the nib without touching the tip.
but you can see the dislikes even if we can not....
also, have you tried removing the nib of, let's say a jetstream 1.0 and inserted another jetstream nib, such as 0.28, 0.38 etc? Cheers

@@limmoblack OK now I see what you're talking about. That has got to be one of the most expensive ball point refills I've seen.
