An Idiot and his cheap art supplies
I've been on a stupid quest to find cheap art supplies. And I'm not even talking about good value. I had lost sight of the pursuit of good value art supplies and ended up considering cost as the only factor that was important. I have spent money on expensive pens but often I don't spend the right amount of money on the consumables.
After making this video I'm starting to wonder if I've made a few like this before.

My illogical apathy towards making digital art
Переглядів 2,8 тис.4 місяці тому
So I sat down to draw on my computer in an attempt to make something of quality. And then I found myself wishing I was somewhere else… like in front of a piece of paper for example. Once again in the beginning of the video I sound like someone who is about to fall asleep. Well MAYBE I AM! Let’s pretend that is a reflection of how excited I am about drawing digitally. Lots of scribble searching ...
My last sketchbook doesn't exist and I'm grateful.
Переглядів 5795 місяців тому
The winds swept across a vast endless expanse of sand. Resulting in rolling dunes that grinds whatever remained of the last civilization into dust. A lone traveler pulls something out from the debris. A book. He opens the book wondering what advanced knowledge his ancestors have left behind... It's your sketchbook...
My dislike for making pen reviews... Or any product

Ok I probably will be temped to make another product review. But I just don't want to sell that there is a connection between our personal development and some endless cycle of materialism.
Removing fountain pen feedback - cheap hack

My favorite Jinhao... so far
Переглядів 9 тис.Рік тому
In this video I show you my selection of Jinhao fountain pens. And what I don't like about them. And my current favorite. 0:00 Jinhao 599 and 777 ( Lamy Safari clones) 4:54 Jinhao 65 (with grip mod) 7:09 Jinhao x750 (The heavy one) 9:12 Jinhao 994 (It's cheap. That is all) 10:13 Jinhao 80 (Amazing but I can't use them) 15:03 Jinhao x159 (My current favourite. Chinese Montblanc 149 style??) Yes ...
The best kind of refillable pen
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
A rough summery ( which is about as long as a summery can be) as to why I think the fountain pen is the best kind of refillable pen. I have problems with every other kind I know of. I videoed this on a really cheap usb camera. So easy. I think I'll do it again.
Sailor pen cartridge hacks

In which I quickly modify a international cartridge piston converter from a cheap Jinhao pen to fit in my sailor fude nib fountain pen. I then also use a silicone drinking straw as a refillable cartridge as well.
Perpetua Lumina - Interesting pencil
Переглядів 993Рік тому
Imagine if a pencil was a technological advancement into the future of sustainable writing implements. A shining example in a dark self-destructive world of wanton wastefulness. I know a sort of made fun of their marketing but after writing the above I have some respect for it. It wasn't easy.
Filtering ink for a fountain pen - DIY carbon ink?

In this experiment I filter sumi ink in an attempt to make a DIY platinum carbon black. It helps quite a bit. Not perfect though.

AI coming for your humanity (A crazy anti-AI art rambling rant)
Переглядів 641Рік тому
It shouldn't be called AI generated art. It should be called AI digested art. No wait... It shouldn't even be called art. Is it art to steal a painting out of a museum? Is it art to eat a burger that you wanted when someone else made it?... Ok I lost myself on that last analogy. Now I'm rambling in the comments and I've done enough of that. There is another 14 minutes of rambling in the video.

I found the Jetstreams to be pretty wet and blotchy. Both Parker and Cross ballpoint refils are lightfast, I believe. Parker mentions some kind of ISO standard in their promo material.

Can I use the regular fountain pen ink? I use my fineliners for general writing and have at least two bottles of fountain pen ink (Pelikan 4001) just laying around. As much as i love my fountain pens, I prefer to carry around a fineliner. So, I was just wondering if I can use that ink instead?

I think its much easier and fast to create original art on paper, however when it comes to anything that "just has to be done" like coloring or perfecting the lines of the logo - digital is a way to go. But for me it always start on paper.

I'm very new to the world of Jinhaos and I love their giant 9019. I wanna get the 9053 but compared to the 9019 ($3.50 US for us) is super cheaper compared to the 53. Same nib, same size just one is made of wood and there are versions with a brass cap. Unexpectedly smooth writer too!

So useful and so funny! It's my first time trying out this type of eraser and I'm quite excited since i have a problem with smudging ever since i started to use carbons. When you say you have the Faber Castell eraser since 2016, do you mean that you've always bought the same model, or that you literally used the one in the video? In such case I'm surprised that it lasts so long

be careful not grinding/polishing too much, the life of a fountain pen is on the tip of the nib. if the tipping material gone it won't be smooth ever again unless you change the nib or retip it. if your pen feels scratchy, make sure to inspect it first like the video before you do any grinding/polishing, it could be something else like misaligned nib.

I also love this pen. The only problem was with the (pocket) clip which became loose after very few uses. The nib can dry out if not used for a while, but even the fine writes smoothly with a minimal amount of feedback.

Don't use a metal ruler with a fineliner marker. When you draw a line the nib of the fineliner gets damaged by the metal ruler. Tech pens are good with the metal ruler.

I have several of these, I think they're pretty good for the cheap price (cheaper in the UK) I don't care if the paper crinkles a bit in a sketchbook, in fact I love to see a full sketchbook with all the crinkly pages stretching the elastic.

Sigh.......you need to keep the pen vertical if you are going to do this, and you need finer sand paper. Maybe 10,000 grit. 2000 grit is very coarse. You also need to remove the weighted needles inside the nibs or you are going to ruin them too. I wish that you would stop making these videos. You really have no idea what you are doing and are going to cause a lot of people to ruin their pens.

I’ve had a Platinum Preppy inked up with Platinum Carbon Ink for four years, including it sitting in a drawer for 18 months when I thought I’d lost it. I took the cap off and it wrote straight away, no skipping and the nib didn’t have any ink staining.
