- First video of a potential series. Sorry for the blurry screen. i really need a better camera. Disclaimer: I don't claim to know it all just yet, but let's have fun exploring and trying to understand. Corrections welcome. i will mention them in the next video.

Thanks for this series of videos, very helpful. I have the Iridium on the way, and can't wait to get stuck in and creating some cool patches.
Thanks, really good to see these in depth walkthroughs. I'm looking forward to seeing more of how the sequencer works - if you can do step sequencing on the 16 pads, editing notes and steps etc.
Will do!
@@cellrok Which sets of single cycle waveforms worked properly and which didn't? I have ones from Adventure Kid, DMS Classic analog waves + echo soundworks core tables, massive wavetables for serum, serum factory wavetables, Omnisphere 2 wavetables. Cymatics.fm, Ghosthack and Audioanimals also sell them for Serum. I wonder if they work on serum they will they be automatically be suitable for the Iridium / Quantum?
@@MadelnMachines Hmm.. All of them should work to some degree. But "single cycle" is a bit different in that it is not a table. It really is just one frame. I was thinking about searching some packs that have these listed specifically, so i can see the difference compared to the Serum ones. With tables i had varying pitches due to different lengths and so on, and from my understanding a single cycle really is just a loopable fraction of a wave at a fixed pitch.
great content would like to see more videos to see whats possible with the iridium, maybe next time checking out how the low freqs are sounding like :)
cheers! noted. more videos soon.
Would you mind telling me what store did you get it from? Thanks!
Welcome back, saw your recent jams, and it looks like some hardware setup tweaks lol..... what happened to your old buddy the Octatrack ;)
I'm gonna make some tea and watch this Iridium overview now - looks good!
Cheers mate! Well... me and OT got into an argument about how he didn't change after all these years. It got ugly so we had to part ways again. He will be missed, but can't help it. However, my new buddy SP-16 is ready to rock in his place so its all good :D
going to get one next year and make some sound banks.
someone knows, how does the wavetable of the iridium compare with the new waldorf M?
I wonder whether more oscillator effects are in development...probably!
i was thinking the same. Something to squash or expand waveforms or change bitrate etc..
How many Wavetables are there, please?
I don't see any confirmations too put it in a rack system?
It is written on the website as feature. I guess the additional rack-ears will be released later.
video a little dark. Thanx for making the wait more easy!
Thanks. I tried to balance against the brightness of the Iridium screen by darkening the surroundings so it becomes readable. I will do a two-camera angle next time.
@@cellrok Two dimmed light sources above you should give the desired effect. But they should either not be point sources or at least be placed quite high up so that the light is spread more widely.
@@StefanRedel Thanks! Will try that later
hi can it sample direct and make its own wavetables ?
Yes. Check 19:35 The Talk Tool
/ 20:44 Analyze Audio and 21:27 Sampling the Peak
Iridium or Kyra?
They have almost the same price, the Iridium has 16 polyphonies, while the Kyra has 128 polyphonies.
Which is better and for what purpose?
Any thoughts?
The Kyra "only" focuses on VA which means it only does a quarter of what the iridium can do. This is why it can bring up all these voices.
The Kyra is no slouch by any means, but it is more along the lines of AnalogFour or Virus C focusing on standard analog waveform synthesis (times 8, multi timbral) whereas on Iridium this is just one of 5 different synthesis engines that you can choose from across 3 oscillators.
After all I think it depends on your preferred workflow.
If I'd sample and arrange every sound one by one - to fill my track - I can get by with just the Iridium and use the entire power it offers to make one part. Play, Record, Next.
If my goal is to play all sounds live I need more than one synth (aka Synthesizer-as-a-band). In that case the Kyra, which can provide 8 parts in total, is the better choice as I can access any sound at any time and don't have to sample anything. Kinda like with the VirusTI2.
@@cellrok Thanks a lot, that was valuable... :-)
I'm asking the same but Vs the XTK ... :D !
12:30 ... on youtube you cannot hear any difference - normal, legacy, harsh, dirty .. all the same. Nothing you can demo on youtube.
