One thing I really enjoyed about this generation was simple multiplayer modes that you could play every so often and not devote your life to.

I remember the early days of Xbox 360 and its online service. Coming home from school and firing up some Chaos Theory Spies vs Mercs online via backwards compatible mode was awesome.

Only problem is that it is delisted.

@Eddy2High no, I mean, for example, you buy a series S today and want to play left 4 dead. You can't because they're delisted games and Series S is digital only. On the Series X, you can because you can buy a disc and install it.
With the Assassin’s Creed multiplayer I think they shut the servers down but the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag multiplayer is still active on Xbox one and PS. I played it today, but there’s only like maybe 200 people that play it consistently. It’s a lot of fun actually.
Brother you are taking me on a nostalgia trip back to my late teens early 20's when id play 360 all damn day long, from halo 2, halo 3, id run through gears 1 and 2 on insane mode, and play ridge racer 6, our friends would come over and play street fighter IV, then we'd go to gamestop where my buddy worked and bother him a bit, with my brother man its really been that long.
Crossplay in 2007.. wow. That's something I never knew, but back in the old days it was probably through "Games for Windows Live" which was just pain on the old PC days

@@lunakurouwu3935 Not really, I think GFWL got shut down in 2014. Since that, many games like Resident Evil 5 left unplayable for a decade. Few months ago capcom released a patch which officially removed Games for Windows Live. Same for Fallout 3. But only with the help from the community.

Depends. It is dead, though some games are still not patched to run without it.
Though the service is still functional if you download it, me personally I have Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City on Steam and I had to get GFWL for it to run.
But it fully functions, I sign in my Microsoft/Xbox account and I even get achievements for Xbox, even though they are absent from Steam. Once somebody even joined my campaign, though the multilayer scene seems to be largely empty, never was able to find any matches.
@@1StaubsaugerThe reason is that gfwl can’t handle Xbox accounts with 2fa for some reason so gfwl has essentially became useless because people can’t sign into it anymore. So people just install xliveless.

Bro farcry 3 and 2 multiplayer was awesome back in the day the crazy custom maps and woah you actual talked about quake 4 thats insane i thought people forgot it

The best part about backwards compatibility Is
you can boot up MW2 or black ops and play them like they are xbox one or series x games
and If you still own a 360 you can play on that and still find players
Yea good luck with dealing with modders since Activision sadly doesn't give a shit about the older games anymore. Online is either dead or ruined by console modders.

Recently beat Rainbow six vegas 2 on the highest difficulty, was hard as hell

Forza Horizon 1 & 2 had online servers shut down a few weeks ago. I don’t know why it allows you to start a lobby in FH1 though.
Speaking of Crackdown 1 and 2, the multiplayer is free without Xbox Live due to the games themselves being free.

The initial thing I noticed upon trading in my Xbox One for the 360, is simply how much easier, simple, and clean the dashboard/system is. It just seems much more easy on the eye than modern systems. Another positive is how much more customisation it allows players
I miss the old 360 menu, just so much good times I’ve had. Seemed more simpler back then, I still have my mw2 edition 360. Get hit with nostalgia everytime I look at it😢

You can still find people playing Fight Night Champion everyday. Though my favorite FN4 is no longer playable online
I used to play Fight Night Champion on my PS3 when it was launched and when I had my first Xbox experience through Series S I was surprised that there are plenty people playing it to this today on Xbox. I believe it is due to backwards compatibility+EA play. The PlayStation version is gen locked and kind of empty.
The og minecraft minigames are still active (atleast in Europe) and you can pretty much get a lobby anytime (glide and tumble lobby's are quite rare but battle is very common
shadowrun was sick :D i didn't have internet when the 360 first came out but this had bot matches and i would play it all the time :D so much fun
I found a game early last year, like 5 people were actually playing shadowrun in 2023 and I could not believe it. The game maybe rough by normal standards but holy crap the nostalgia was unmatched.
Splinter Cell Double Agent was so good. I miss the multiplayer on that game, I remember constantly having so much fun with it. Not to mention, it's quite a unique style of play, that a lot of games don't take on nowadays

Far Cry 4 went down when Ubisoft fixed the Far Cry 2 multiplayer. Aliens vs Predator is pretty active and sometimes Ghostbusters the video game.

If you want to play Gears Of War 2, play Ranked Gaurdian. Pretty active during the day/evening in North America.

i wished there were more players on payday 2 on the 360 as at best you'll see one or 2 lobbies with 3-4 players, but usually you end up playing offline mode with terrible bots instead as no one's hosting a lobby. please let me know if anyone still plays this game on this console

Hate if you want, but even the modding scene on the 360 was so much fun. On call of duty world at war, and cod4. I loved playing legit as well, but there was something very fun about the modding scene as well.
The days of paying 1200ms Points for a 10th prestige lobby on MW2 is something I wish I could relive again.

Battlefield 1943 was so much fun.
Forza Horizon 1 still works despite the announcements telling you it's shut down.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered being cross-play is a big W in the gaming industry for me. I get on this game time to time and have made friends with people who religiously play it, it's a nice experience. The lobbies are slam full of players almost but time to time you get a dead lobby.

GRAW was underrated. Cod overshadowed it but it was a badass game.
This is just my opinion BUT Forza Horizon 2 is the BEST in the series, great graphics, amazing radios that bring you into the world and it's very fun =) I still play that today!

Ubisoft games tend to come back online since they are connected to their other games
Watch_Dogs (oniine hacking, online tailing) still works but the mobile app was long discontinued

funny for me i can find players in perfect dark zero pretty regularly but quake arena I played last year and never encounter a single player in my whole time playing it

That's awesome I recall playing with a random stranger in borderlands 2 and I got to play with a friend on the pre-sequel so it's still alive but have your lobby public and see who will join that's how a stranger came I played as a psycho at the time
Oh and I've played _Rock band_ and _Guitar Hero_ the servers are still active And I found like 8-10 people that still play it
Rock band 3, Guitar Hero 3 GH: Metallica, specifically I tried with others like Aerosmith, warriors of rock, Van Halen, the first 2 Rock Band games, not much unless you know somebody or are friends with that still have the games to this day

11:56 bl2 is dead on the 360 because it was re released on ps4 and xb1. those are easy to find games in. i play it to this day
You probably should have made a note that BF BC, BC2 and 1943 servers would be shutting down in December, even though this video was months prior it would have been good to warn people, same with The Crew. RIP those games.

Because condemned 2 never gets any love sadly. Pretty sure there's no way to play the second game on pc either if I remember correctly.

@@Kylewraps Not everyone has the money for a PC, or even wants one. A lot of people went from 360 to PS4 and tuned out of the loop of Microsoft so wouldn't know what Xbox games get shut down. Sucks to find out the games are gone, lucky for me I do have a PC and played MCC a ton over the last couple years but for those casuals like this commenter, would be a disappointment. OG servers > MCC 100%
