Someone told me don't be mad your dad wasn't around. He mighta been an alcoholic beating you And your maw everyday. I had a bf in high school who had That Exact problem!!
I don't care what anyone thinks, Arnie was right in this situation. If his parents had let him park Christine in their precious driveway then it would not have been destroyed the first time.
Even if Repperton's gang found out where he parked the car. They would have been very foolish to break into his home knowing they could've called police, and Arnie would've been legally allowed to take any measures if they invaded his property.
He spent hours on her before he was aware of Christine's power.Everyone, even Dennis was against him buying it. He'll be damned if he's going to let some shitter win. Go Arnie/Roland/Christine!
@@Lily-kl1of That's correct. Dennis was one of the few that didn't deserve Christine's wrath or Roland's. And Arnie drove Leigh away under the downward spiral of Christine and Roland's possession driving him over the edge. Especially after Buddy and his friends vandalized her. Most of Christine's victims, however, such as Buddy and his gang or Darnell were bad, rotten people that deserved their fate.
Well. I have to say it. It was Arnie's mom's fault. Because for one thing she forbidden him not to keep the car there at home, which had caused him to put it at the where he worked at. If his mom hadn't forbidden him not to keep the car at home it would have stayed in one piece. Most parents would be happy for their kids having a car. That's the way it should be. This scene shows us all that if anything negative comes out of your mouth & it comes true you will get blamed for it.
While I would agree, I don't really see how that would have stopped Buddy and the gang from smashing Christine. At least at Darnell's there was some security such as doors only Darnell and Arnie could open. Here, it's an open driveway and even if she relented she probably wouldn't let him put Christine in the garage. Not to mention I could see the following scenario: Buddy and the gang smash up the car, Arnie's parents wake up. Alerted to the noise, they see Christine getting smashed up. The dad offers to call the police, but the mom who was the most vocal about hating Christine stalls him until they leave. Then calls the police. "Sorry Arnie we tried to stop them." "How hard were you trying?!" That being said, there has been some debate in both book and movie over people's reactions to the car. More or less, implying that it has some influence that the people can feel subconsciously that causes them to react. In the case of Arnie's Parents, Dennis and Leigh, they hate it and it seems irrational to how much to hate it. However it's a question of how much their hatred and fear of Christine is based on her influence or based on their own attempts to rationalize the feeling said influence causes.
1:33 I thought he said to his dad: "Put it in the sack." 😄 At the time I misinterpreted that piece of dialogue as him cheekily telling his own father to better use his energy to work on his middle-aged virility. What he actually said was: "I'm hitting the sack." Meaning he's going to bed.
@@cerberuskane5061 some people are sensitive to some things like that even if it is a movie so yeah it’s kinda what happends just putting that out there
No. A new car would be more asthetically pleasing for the neighbors to look at in the parents' driveway as compared to what they consider a "junky pos 1958 Plymouth". Conceited people don't drive or want to be seen near Plymouths.
Like it or hate it one thing that car did do is boost his confidence and made him stick up for himself maybe not in the right way but one thing you can say by the end of this movie he wasn't being pushed around by nobody which is one thing I honestly can say I respect 🤷🤔
The way Arnie gets his hand on his dad is what seals the deal for me. This isn't some kid who's been bullied all his life, this is a grown man who's been in many, many fights.
I don't blame Arnie or his parents I think Arnie is only acting this way because Christine is doing it to him buddy and his gang have no idea what they are dealing with it isn't Arnie talking it's Christine doing it
Me too. I always thought it was Christine talking through Arnie. In the book it was Lebay that was possessing Arnie though. Side note: I'd love to see a good fist fight between Arnie and Buddy now that Arbie is in this state.
I don't like the way Arnie spoke to his mother. I know his parents were hard on him in the book, but having lost my mom I can't stop myself from feeling disgusted with Arnie saying f*** you to his mother.
@@giantleprechaun2350 follow your own advice. UA-cam is such a toxic place nowadays because of people like you, who whine, bitch and moan because they can't stand someone having an opinion.
I think at this point of the movie, Christine's entity got her claws into Arnie and he became a fearless sociopath. Quite early prior to this scene, Arnie already became well attached to Christine because that's how she works with her owners. Control, psychosis, obsession etc.
I am going to analyze this scene and put it based on what people are saying along with what's happening: Arnie's mom apologizing I would not accept either; Arnie has been treated more like a dog than a son his entire life, he has been treated like a baby his entire life and since Arnie started retaliating after finding Christine only did it make them realize that he should be treated more humanly. The part where Arnie blames his mom about not letting him park his car in his driveway, I am going to have to argue against that. Someone said that if he parked it in his car in his own driveway it wouldn't have been as vulnerable to trespassers I want to argue against that to say. The bullies found out where Arnie kept his car at Darnell's. They would have tracked him down and found his car at his own house even if they let him park it in his own driveway They were so vengeful of what him and his buddy did in class to get him most likely suspended. While everyone was asleep at night they would have gone over to his house and vandalized his car anyways. His mother saying it's not fair Arnie has every right to be mad. If that was her car, she would be the same way. Bottom line It would have gotten vandalized anyways. The part where she wanted to talk about this rationally, Arnie's comeback was indeed justified what the bullies did to his car was not rational at all. The part where his dad said that his mother and him decided to help him buy a new car, that's bullshit it would cost more to buy a new car than to just fix Christine up. So that was just stupid and foolish. The part where Arnie said F you to his mom that was just mean and unnecessary, instead a less harsh way instead would have been "well screw that" I am fixing up Christine. Then him and his dad probably wouldn't have gotten in a fight.
I read that there might be a remake... Stay tuned. I like the updated version of Carrie. 'This isn't what you girls did in the shower, this is criminal assault, this is jail time if we're caught. You ever tell anyone what we did here, I will kill you, got it?' Best quote in the film.
Its weird how the car alters his personalty. I can relate to this in someways having crazy overprotective parents who have to run my life and things have to go there way. I have a complicated relathinship with my mother.
@@johnnygunzfilmbuff7821 yeah. that’s why i really can’t sympathize with them in this scene. they were total jerks to arnie the whole movie except for when they offered to help buy him a new car.
Honestly, I know it's the car speaking through him (in a sense) but there were some valid points. It probably wouldn't have happened if they let him keep it in the driveway instead of where he had it. But then again it probably still would've happened if Buddy and them knew where he lived. I personally blame the mother more because she was doing most of the scolding in both the movie and the book, especially towards Arnie's friend. As for the father, I'm sorry to say it like this but the guy is pussy-whipped in the movie while in the book he was rather timid to a degree. Like he could've put his foot down and say to her "Look, it's Arnie's money. If he wants to buy a car, let him. He's old enough to decide for himself." I understand the time period but after reading the book and watching the movie countless times, it just irks me how it went down.
I hope everyone doesn’t act like Arnie to their parents like swearing at em or grabbing their dad’s neck like they’re so tough. Should always love your parents
I don’t care how angry I am. I would never talk to my parents that way, but I can’t really blame the guy for being like this. You know what Arnold Cunningham is one of the greatest role reversals I say one of because he's not the greatest but he's up there he went from a bullied defenseless Little Nerd to a sociopath but let's be honest a Plymouth Fury is a beautiful car especially one he has that nice red I'd be pissed off if someone smashed it to
Very good movie. I always enjoy when a bully gets bullied. The dad was bullying him too much.
1:22 basically how every interaction between me and my stepfather goes.
What does he do to make you so mad?
I'm Very Sorry to hear that, Dude!!!😮💨I don't speak to my mother anymore. Part of that's because she stalled for 35+ years before telling me about my father.
I'm proud of Arnie. In the beginning, his parents treated him like trash. Thanks to Christine, The tables are turned.
He spent hours on her before he was aware of Christine's power.Everyone, even Dennis was against him buying it. He'll be damned if he's going to let some shitter win. Go Arnie/Roland/Christine!
How was Dennis against him? He was literally the only person who was there for Arnie since the beginning.
Not to mention I could see the following scenario:
Buddy and the gang smash up the car, Arnie's parents wake up. Alerted to the noise, they see Christine getting smashed up. The dad offers to call the police, but the mom who was the most vocal about hating Christine stalls him until they leave. Then calls the police. "Sorry Arnie we tried to stop them." "How hard were you trying?!"
That being said, there has been some debate in both book and movie over people's reactions to the car.
Back before urban dictionary, they were defecating on dashboards?? Impressive!!!
1:33
I thought he said to his dad:
"Put it in the sack."
😄
At the time I misinterpreted that piece of dialogue as him cheekily telling his own father to better use his energy to work on his middle-aged virility.
What he actually said was:
"I'm hitting the sack."
Meaning he's going to bed.
The mom's face when she cries 😂🤣
She deserved it
I’m very sensitive about this scene. Made me cry.
Why
@@cerberuskane5061 some people are sensitive to some things like that even if it is a movie so yeah it’s kinda what happends just putting that out there
😢 The look on the parents face breaks me down. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
So his parents offer to buy him a new car only to take a chance of that one getting destroyed too?
No. A new car would be more asthetically pleasing for the neighbors to look at in the parents' driveway as compared to what they consider a "junky pos 1958 Plymouth". Conceited people don't drive or want to be seen near Plymouths.
One of them took a shit on the dashboard of my car.
Like it or hate it one thing that car did do is boost his confidence and made him stick up for himself maybe not in the right way but one thing you can say by the end of this movie he wasn't being pushed around by nobody which is one thing I honestly can say I respect 🤷🤔
I was 6 years old when I watched this movie. I miss the 80s as a kid.
The way Arnie gets his hand on his dad is what seals the deal for me. This isn't some kid who's been bullied all his life, this is a grown man who's been in many, many fights.
This is 1983, and a "new car" would have been a boxy 110 horsepower pile of crap. No wonder he was pissed.
The film takes place in the late 70s so it most likely would have been a gremlin instead
The only new car I would've wanted in 1983 would either be a Trans Am or a Ford Bronco Xlt
I'm a Simple man. I woulda taken a Ford Escort, Tempo, or...a Plymouth K car!!😎😎🤓
I don't blame Arnie or his parents I think Arnie is only acting this way because Christine is doing it to him buddy and his gang have no idea what they are dealing with it isn't Arnie talking it's Christine doing it
Yeah I agree
Me too. I always thought it was Christine talking through Arnie.
In the book it was Lebay that was possessing Arnie though.
Side note: I'd love to see a good fist fight between Arnie and Buddy now that Arbie is in this state.
Keith Gordon aka Arnie Cunningham’s BEST SCENE!! 🙏🏽💯
i wish i was old enought to do this with my old man, since he was alive.
what a badass
Arnie was right his parents should have let him park christine in the drive way instead of being selfish
I don't like the way Arnie spoke to his mother. I know his parents were hard on him in the book, but having lost my mom I can't stop myself from feeling disgusted with Arnie saying f*** you to his mother.
Get over it
@@giantleprechaun2350 follow your own advice. UA-cam is such a toxic place nowadays because of people like you, who whine, bitch and moan because they can't stand someone having an opinion.
@giantleprechaun2350 how about u get over it?
Arnie couldn't even confront Buddy Riperton when he had his lunch but you see the way he man-handled this father right?!
I think at this point of the movie, Christine's entity got her claws into Arnie and he became a fearless sociopath. Quite early prior to this scene, Arnie already became well attached to Christine because that's how she works with her owners. Control, psychosis, obsession etc.
Great acting on his part.... it's like he's two completely different people.
This Arnie would've destroyed Buddy. In the book Arnie mopped the floor with Buddy.
@@castortroy7704 and after that, Christine got trashed
@@thedrinkinggamemaker9749 yeah. Then Buddy and his boys wound up as roadkill. So.
He really straightened the old man out
Arnie Cunningham is Russian 🇷🇺
Beautifully acted.
Arnie was cross cause of what his parents had done although life is hard.
beautiful scene
Pretty sure there is quite a few people in the comments who haven't seen the whole movie, and only a few scenes lol
Very true👍🏻
I can’t keep a straight face shen he made that face at his mom about the dashboard
Well he has a point...
That's not your son anymore Mr and Mrs Cunningham.. he's evil...
Even if his parents did get a new car for Arnie it will probably still get vandalised by buddy and his friends
I am going to analyze this scene and put it based on what people are saying along with what's happening:
Arnie's mom apologizing I would not accept either; Arnie has been treated more like a dog than a son his entire life, he has been treated like a baby his entire life and since Arnie started retaliating after finding Christine only did it make them realize that he should be treated more humanly.
The part where Arnie blames his mom about not letting him park his car in his driveway, I am going to have to argue against that. Someone said that if he parked it in his car in his own driveway it wouldn't have been as vulnerable to trespassers
I want to argue against that to say.
The bullies found out where Arnie kept his car at Darnell's. They would have tracked him down and found his car at his own house even if they let him park it in his own driveway
They were so vengeful of what him and his buddy did in class to get him most likely suspended.
Then him and his dad probably wouldn't have gotten in a fight.
when i first heard about this movie, honestly i thought it was silly a killer car but its a classic lol
You tell em, Arnie!💪😡
I read that there might be a remake... Stay tuned. I like the updated version of Carrie. 'This isn't what you girls did in the shower, this is criminal assault, this is jail time if we're caught. You ever tell anyone what we did here, I will kill you, got it?' Best quote in the film.
I guess Ernie fell in love with Christine, regardless if she was a car or not
Shit wipes off.
@TheUnidentifiedOnes.Moochie Welch kind of got wiped off too didn’t he?
1:27 Arnie: "What?! Are you scared if I choke you to death?!"
0:41 his face is priceless💀💀💀💀💀😭😭lmao

This reminds me of the Shining
I didn't know Steveterreberry acted!
Is it Jacked up that I laugh at the close ending of this clip at 1:15 sped up?😂😂😂😔😔😔
It's alright, I did a little experiment by speeding it up and I lost it!
“No sh!ter ever came between him & Christine. Because if they did,….” Yeah.
He had every right to be mad at his parents and beat the shit out of his father!!!
Its weird how the car alters his personalty. I can relate to this in someways having crazy overprotective parents who have to run my life and things have to go there way. I have a complicated relathinship with my mother.
the car literally possessed him lol
@@-valmetal- true. But before that we get the sense and hint his parents were controlled freaks.
@@johnnygunzfilmbuff7821 yeah. that’s why i really can’t sympathize with them in this scene. they were total jerks to arnie the whole movie except for when they offered to help buy him a new car.
@@-valmetal- yes
@@-valmetal- story of my life minus a car.
Needless to say, but family issues reinvented well with this.
1:25 If I did that to my father, he would bury me alive.
That’s murder
I hope everyone doesn’t act like Arnie to their parents like swearing at em or grabbing their dad’s neck like they’re so tough. Should always love your parents
I don’t care how angry I am. I would never talk to my parents that way, but I can’t really blame the guy for being like this. It’s really disheartening to live a life getting put down constantly and then you start feeling like things are going your way then someone smashes up something you took such pride in fixing.
Especially since you’re the nerd in school then you developed a hobby fixing cars.
1:23 😐 "Damn" but he supposed to be punished for disrespected his parents
Well he sure straightened him out
1:22-1:24: Togera To Blu In A Nutshell XD
Listen, mister, you've been disrespectful to us once too often! You go back in there and apologize to your mother right now!
A supernatural evil force overtook Arnie so the father was no match to fight him.
