I purposely picked this song to create a core memory the first time I ever met Emma Winter (the woman I’m eventually going to marry, she’s my girlfriend now). We went to Denny’s and then sat in her car, she’d just gotten off work at Benihana’s and she was tired, falling asleep. As her eyes were closed, I picked this song knowing it would immortalize this moment in this song, I watched this angel sleep as I played with her hair. Thinking there’s no way she’s real. This is now our song, officially. I hope everybody in the world gets to find their own Emma Winter in their life at least once. I love you Emma. You will be the mother of my kids.

So, after four years, I came across this song again and I'm still totally addicted to it. I have the sweetest hubby who's always there for me, and every time I listen to this track, I can't help but think of him. I just close my eyes and remember his warm body and heartbeat as I lay my head on his chest.
Back in the day, I used to put this song on and we would cuddle until we dozed off, but now that we have a little munchkin sleeping in the middle of us, it's a different story, haha. Cuddling has become a real challenge with our kiddo hogging the bed, but hey, I know there are people out there who'd kill for this kind of joy in their lives, and I'm grateful for every bit of it. When I first heard the song I instantly loved it as I also thought it sounded so awfully familiar. I was so sure there’s an old, old song in a cassette tape I’d always listened to as a kid that sounds like this one.
To this day I still haven’t found that song, but I like to think maybe it never existed. Maybe I’d heard “You Might Be Sleeping” in a good dream, or maybe my brain faultily linked it with the happy parts in all the sounds of my childhood-and that’s just how comforting the song is.
