  • On this short video I will show you how I test this R0 stepping 9900K in Cinebench and for max validation. During the video the CPU passes 5.4 in R15 with 1.34 set Vcore and validates 5.83GHz with all cores and threads with 1.5v set Vcore on ambient based water cooling. I use my 5.2GHz 4300CL17 daily profile as a starting point and work my way up in the OS.
    Key is in the temperatures as I previously managed to pass 5.4 with only 1.3v set and 5.5 with 1.38v set when temperatures were lower due to lower ambient temperature. Next step is to lap the CPU IHS to possibly gain a few degrees.
    Now I used HD PVR Rocket to Capture the video instead of filming the monitor.

    Nice video. 5.5 for multithread load is monster. 5.8 for SS is savage.

    Is there really a huge difference in capability between the P0 and R0 stepping? I just got my i9 9900k from Amazon and the S-Spec is SRELS on the package which means P0 I think. Wondering if I should send it back and get a newer one?

    Hey Luumi, is this CPU delidded (with LM under IHS) or have you been testing barebone?

    • @LuumiJuhani
      @LuumiJuhani  5 років тому +2

      I have not delidded any 9900K yet, so this is with stock solder.

      @@LuumiJuhani Since you are chasing those very high frequencies, with high voltage it probably would be better to delid it and use an OC frame for direct Die cooling.

      Btw, just look at the der8auer vids, he basically just pushes from both sides, though gotta be careful with removing the indium with a cutter blade

    Hey @LUUMI in the Info you have the hardware specs listed is the ram running at 4133 or 4300.. you list 4133 but the timings are the same as the custom daily profile which is really set to 4300. So did you bring the ram down to 4133 or was it a mistake

    • @LuumiJuhani
      @LuumiJuhani  5 років тому

      I use the profile but i have dropped memory to 4133 with same timings for this testing.

    Hey Luumi, I am on the verge of buying a new PC and was wondering how to get good binned 9900k that will do like 5.2-5.4ghz on custom water cooling. I really don't know who to ask and since you are knowledgeable and in the extreme OC scene I thought you could maybe give me some advice on where to look.. silicon lottery is only binning to 5.1ghz right now and der8auer on caseking only to 5.0ghz which doesn't help me much sadly.

      Im late for sure, but im just posting this here if anyone els is wondering where to get binned cpu's. Siliconlottery.com is one site another what i know is caseking.de. Tbh price for pre binned cpu is insane. You can get good oc cpu from any shop but thats extremely rare. Manufacturer checks every cpu through before they go on sale.

    hey, what does overclocking the ring ratio actually do?

    • @taatuu25
      @taatuu25 5 років тому +1

      It increases the speed of the cpu cache

    • @bobhumplick4213
      @bobhumplick4213 5 років тому

      ring and l3 are sometimes tied. but sometimes not i think. usually it raises the l3 cahce as the other guy here said. but sometimes you can set it to match cores while cache is lower. basically its the thing that carries data from core to core and to the igpu as well. amd's infinity fabric speed would be a similar idea but that is tied to memory speed where as intels ring is not

    Cinebench is not Stable. I Have one 9900KF and one 9900K here. They do 5.2Ghz with 1.252v Cinebench Stale. But for Prime Small FFT´s they need 1.279-1.288V under Load. If i use Large FFT´sm then they have more Vcore under Load becouse the Droop is not High like Small FFT´s.
