I Found This Q6600 in Thailand - Overclock to 5.6GHz

- During my latest trip to Thailand I actually went back to score some potentially good legacy platform CPUs at Pantip Plaza and Palladium Plaza while I was waiting to get my room at the hotel I was staying. The situation was still the same after Covid-19, you can find some stores at Pantip Plaza on the hardware floor that have some legacy components, but the places are still relatively quiet. Palladium Plaza is like a ghost town after Covid-19 and you can find maybe just 3 or 4 stores that sell actual components.
I obviously had the CPU models and their batch numbers in my head and I bought a couple this time as well like I did on my previous trip in July. I found this Q6600 which had an interesting batch number, but surprisingly it didn't seem good at all when I tested it for the first time at home. I actually discarded it, but I was lucky when I quickly retried it during New Year's eve and saw something that really raised my instinct.
That feeling was certainly correct as I was able to break the CPU-z Core Frequency validation on first attempt with only 1 post. About 5.4GHz+ and the highest validation I was able to achieve was 5.569GHz. I saw 5.6GHz+ 2 or 3 times but I wasn't able to validate it. I am sure that over time with many attempts that frequency is doable.

Thanks for watching !
#overclocking #lga775 #thailand
absolutely amazing, love the core 2 quads
To what maximum frequency can it be overclocked without liquid nitrogen, using a tower cooler?
3,3ghz
The best!
Wow amazing! What about a Xeon x5470?
I havent really looked into old Xeons much yet.
@@LuumiJuhani They were stronger in 775, with the socket/bios mod (771/775)
my first cpu was a q6600. still have it, i only pushed it to 3,2(prime95 stable) with a 120mm aio back then (2006-7)
Crazy
Congrats!
I retired mine after it survived 2V on water @ 4GHz (everyday OC, all cores).
Not the best chip but a TANK foreelz (was OCing RAM on air and found the CPUs limit).
Hey there, posting proof is hard on this platform.
CPU-Z WR has Luumi as #1 for Core 2 775 (under ym9ncn). And Rightly So!!!
Change that to nkbku1 and it should work.
I was playing Crysis 3 and at the start where the first grassy area is, got a lot more down low performance maxing out the ram speed and timings. That save has subsequently become part of my FPS testing/ OCing process for all new systems, as mainly i'm only interested in useable OCs, and there aren't many games that will max out your CPU like that area (esp with a clock generator).
Next step is dusting it off for a Xeon 771 as i really think there's more in that RAM and now i need more CPU to get there.
Happy New Year everyone!
Long live the Q6600 :)
in the eu you cant never find good old cpus for overclocking sadly
Wow
5.6GHz...........
Was it boiling in the beginning?! Lol
Liquid nitrogen which boils at -196 celcius.
@@LuumiJuhani "Cool" 🤓🤣✌️
