I think more Gege always wanted Yuta to be his main character, his editor was the main reason it was changed, which is why a lot of the moments that Yuji should’ve shined he got help or spotlight was given to another character like Gojo or Sukuna. Sukuna was close the character he wanted to the mix of Yuta and Rika to originally be, which is why Yuji feels like a bit of a side character.
yeah Idk where I heard it from or if its real. but I heard that it said that gege hated yuji's character archetype(the go-lucky) and yuta was his favorite. and then it all starts clicking in place. I mean I get the idea of"what if everything went wrong instead of right" for this MC. and its fresh gives it an almost durara vibe where everyone gets their shine. but won't let his MC get his. even getting moments robbed from him for "sudden appearances" and its funny how often it happens.
@ I think you’re referring to an actual official interview where Gege admitted that Yuta was his ideal main character, and that he wanted Rika to basically be Sukuna where she influenced Yuta to be evil when she was manifested. And that Yuji only came about because he was forced to rewrite because of his editor and shounen jump wanting a more happy-go-lucky character like Yuji which he admitted he isn’t a fan of. So he wanted other characters to shine and have a lot of time instead to Gojo and Sukuna which were basically his ideal main characters if he couldn’t have Yuta as the main character in his original vision.
@@n3xus593 wow. Can't believe it's real. His ideal MC is a shinji archetype. But if uses for a story like jjk perspective he is but if he means in general then wow. I like how people are such hypocrites. People want side characters to shine more, but if the Mc gets less screen time, it’s bad writing for the mc. You can never make people happy.
