The Squash Barn - My DIY Squash Court
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 сер 2021
- During the UK lockdowns I built a squash court in my barn to keep training and pursue my dream of becoming a top professional squash player. This is the story of my tireless training in a make or break period of my life. After making some huge improvements I have since joined the University of Birmingham to further develop my squash and have started playing on the PSA (Professional Squash Association) Satellite Tour. After six tournaments I have reached the quarter finals three times and at the time of writing am currently ranked 575 in the world.

As a former pro that started very late with no coach, no social capital, and no resources, its great to see the extraordinary support you have from your family. I hope you are grateful for every moment. Best wishes for success and always remember that pro ticket can't be bought with any amount of money, it can only be earned.
Thanks Martin. I am very grateful to be able to pursue my dream of being a top squash player. I’ll keep working hard!
Awesome!!!! Our family is wishing you the best season yet as you return to school! - Faith Skinner

Thank you 😃
Brilliant ,,, I’m 59 next week .. I’ve improved from a low end 3 rd div player at 35 to top 5 Europe o55 in the last ten years , I’m as crazy about it as you still after 40 yrs on court ! So be prepared this is a fantastic life long addiction , fitness now is as important as mental strength these days so you are on the right track ,,, good luck with your rise ,, and remember , comp comp comp the more the better ,,

Thanks Neil. Wow that’s an amazing achievement, very inspiring! Good luck with your masters tournaments 💪🏻
👍 I am now 50…tried taking up squash when I was 19…but somehow didn’t happen apart from a few visits to the court. At 35y of age and nearly 100kg weight(170cm) I started again and came down to 78kg of solid body (my gym action improved) ..2006-2010 I played crazily… then after 10 years of gap I have started again since last 6 months and I feel awesome.
I just got my two boys enrolled in a local squash academy here in Pune(India) … and guess what next month Ramy Ashour is visiting us here… I can’t wait to meet him.
@@MrNitKap well brilliant , I met him once in Rotterdam as I was friends with the late great malc Wilstrop who introduced me , Ramy was lovely , modest and funny ,, enjoy your squash keep your kids in the sport it will be a life tool for sure , the squash world is a very welcoming one .
Great commitment! Extraordinary results can only come from extraordinary effort 👍

Haha yeah he is! 🤩
ooooo what are the walls made of? How much do you reckon it would cost to make a squash court in an old disused building?
Great job...I love squash too. Thanks for sharing your work.
It’s a great sport that needs more recognition!

I feel like getting onto the squash court right now 😂 it's great to see the comradeship between you and your Dad 👍 I love also the squash ball machine where did you buy it? Over and out happy squashing 😎
Thanks for a great comment! 😃 I was actually testing the ball machine for the manufacturer. Stay tuned on www.stingraysquash.com for updates on its release
This is amazing mate, wish I'd had something similar during lockdowns! Do you also play for your uni's team?
Thanks! I haven’t played for my uni team yet due to covid but hopefully from September I will be able to play some matches.
Same, going into my 2nd year at Queen Mary, if there's a uni league this year hopefully I'll see you around!
Yeah for sure 👍🏼
1:18 min. Where to purchase the automatic ball feeder?

What are the walls made of? I’d like to make one
Plywood! 😅
However there are concrete block walls behind the plywood
Well done 👍
Would love to have the Master 👨🎓 Plan if possible? Regards from Vienna
Thank you! The court was built by fixing plywood panels on top of already present concrete blocks and then painted with four coats of white paint.
Many people want to know how you build the squash court.
The walls of the barn already had concrete blocks in place. My dad and I just attached plywood panels to them and gave them a few coats of paint!
