Unreal Engine 5 AND Reallusion workflow tutorials?! You’ve just got yourself a new subscriber lol. It’s so hard to find good content on these two workflows (mostly because people don’t by Reallusion for it’s expense, but the product is amazing) and I use both products for cinematics extensively. @@Jobutsu I think that a video showing how to make a simple animation for games from scratch in CC4 (like a jump, or a basic swing attack), importing It in UE5 and eventually modify It back in CC4 to simulate the usual iterations required to reach the end result could be absolutely invaluable!

Great tutorial as always. Only one thing I had to do differently on the animation section. Uncheck default sample rate and set the value to 0. Otherwise my animation import would fail because in CC4 I set the fps to 24.
I think there were tutorials on reallusion's youtube about importing daz characters and clothes. But daz clothes are made in third-party software like Marvelous Designer. So yes, go check)
I have been trying out importing hair and clothes etc. The automatic weight painting does a fantastic job and can be easily modified with the tools included.
Followed this great tutorial for my custom CC4 character, however upon import the visual quality of the character's body and clothes is significantly lower. Also tried texture quality of 4K but same results. Can you help me?
If you want the character to walk and talk and the same time for example, would I have to build all of the animations in iclone first? Or does unreal have a way to blend the animations and add into your scene?

That is not something that is possible to answer in a UA-cam comment. It requires many different skills and a knowledge of what each stage requires. I will think about how I could deliver a tutorial on it, if I can, i will.
Thanks for this. Very useful. I can successfully import and animate regular characters using your tutorial. However, any character with wrinkles I cannot animate. Part of the problem seems to be that on FBX import even with separate mesh and motion there is already an animation sequence and a animation blueprint associated with the wrinkle expression. Then after importing the actual character animation I have 2 animation sequences! I've tried using both in my Animation Track but neither work. Any help or feedback appreciated!

You need to use character creator characters to use clothing/weight painting on them. If you have your own animations, iClone can be used to tweak or modify them.
There was a problem with cloth simulation inside unreal, To avoid confusion and to save me hours, I disabled cloth sim and I left it out of this tutorial.
have you noticed any bugs when importing cc4 characters into ue5 and choosing a skeleton already inside ue5 for them it causes the model to import without materials
Do you have any information on how to get character creator 4 characters to work on ALS (Advance locomotion system) in Unreal Engine 5? This current processes does not work correctly for that.

Hi, Love the tutorial as always. Edit: Nevermind below , the anim fbx import went through after waiting precisely 31 minutes. Wonder though why it takes so long. It seems like the current UE5 crashes when importing the animation .FBX from CC4. It gets stuck at 80% and I have waited around 30 minutes for it. I have tried to export the animations as separate FBX from CC4. I am choosing the only skeleton in the import settings which is the CC skeleton. Maybe for some reason this just takes longer than half an hour. Need to wait and see.
Try without hair and see if that speeds up the process. I noticed some issues on some character imports. If I catalogue the errors, I can pass them on to Reallusion.

Been trying to resolve why my textures looked so bad for a year! Didn’t use a actor blueprint after import, 🤦🏻♂️ such a muppet 😅 I feel like this was a step missed out of every other tutorial video too!
It can be imported with audio but I personally like to work in post with audio. I never had much luck, in engine. There are those in the industry that have no problems doing it in engine though.
@@Jobutsu Non-baked, so I mean morph targets, just like those facial morph targets you showed us in Unreal. By baked morphs I presume you mean the body has been morphed/reshaped in CC4 and then when an FBX is exported, the mesh within the FBX file is a permanent shape that can't be further changed without the use of CC4 or Blender or Maya etc. The body is unchangeable within Unreal right? Only the face can be changed in Unreal?
Can you make a tutorial on how to properly setup CC3/4 character on to UE5 skeleton ? Like doing it using IK rigs, always tend to break/bend the mesh. It's very difficult.
My question is. Do you have iclone 8 installed? If not. I am impressed. Because I was thinking on just getting cc4 and doing the majority of my animations in a different program like UE5 or my preference blender.

I did EXACTLY the SAME things you did, my character is there, perfect, but animation is only the pose and blink eye (sorry my english) don't know if I did something wrong in the CC4 or maybe UE5. EDIT: I've just clicked over Additive Settings in animation and Set to Mesh Space and then the animations started normally. I think it's fixed but if you have more thoughts just tell me your channel is amazing!

So, I see you imported the mesh and rig without animations - Then did the animations afterwards - Why, out of interest? I have many NPC characters, and my word it takes for ever to import them with motion and morphs LOL! So you think it better, and maybe faster - to import the model + rig first - then import the animation afterwards. Basically, I've created Arnold Schwarzenegger and I want to make him talk, but at the moment I'm using live link and it doesn't look good, the lips look like a video game, I wanted to render out something where you can see all the micro-movements like in your video here.
can it take face mesh and make it to metahuman. yes in hard way. why not make metahuman more setting so can actually make more than one morph between asian/caucasian LOL when we actually can move mesh and not just morph

This was a fantastic tutorial overall. It was pretty brutal to gloss over the entire sequencer camera and character part though...I'll keep my nagging to minimum since this is a free vid lol.

I need CC4 to export to the UE5 skeleton. I think it's exports UE4 and even that isn't 100% compatible.
I use Blender/Maya to fix the skeleton.
You can always use IKRetrageting to retarget your animations.

[guess] During export there is an option "First Frame in Bind-Pose" uncheck it.
That should resolve your dual animation asset problem.

Yes. I always create a skeleton for the import and then delete it, replacing with a common/shared CC4 Skeleton.

There is something wrong with hair transfered either way. The hair/cloth is disabled in the video for that reason.

I did scale that character right back, so that I could make a tutorial out of it.
But I decided not to proceed just yet.

You can take cc4 face mesh and use it to create a MetaHuman. Then attach Metahuman head to cc4 body.

I did not fix it. I turned off cloth simulation, on the hair, for the tutorial.

Longer videos tend to loose the audience.
The camera sequence is a whole tutorial in itself.
I added it to my list of tutorials though.

Character creator models look good in their native application but look ugly in unreal and unity.
