How to use the 2023 Tesla Model Y Parcel Shelf (Version 2)

- I received this version of the parcel shelf on my 2023 MY Long Range, built in Austin in December 2022. I believe this is part #1641293-00-d with some other vehicles receiving part #1641293-97-B (a parcel shelf with different folding points).
If you need to briefly move back the shelf to place items in the back, you can just slide the circular panel toward the rear. As you can see in the video, it typically will not hold, since the shelf is at a slope with a Z-fold that wants to expand back to the prior position. If you would like to keep the shelf level and in a pushed back position, it's best to create a a V with the two smaller rear panels, then slide them down behind the rear seats.
its doing great in my attic
Oh what the hell, I’ve been struggling all this time and it’s that simple!
Now I know. Thank you. I have been dropping entire half to the back of the seat. Lol.
Me too 😂
The aftermarket cargo covers are the spring-loaded roll-out type just like the ones from other automakers.
I have been owning my TMY for 2 weeks but something what boggles me with this car is, how they can develop such a good piece of technology on wheels and still fuck up the UX of cargo cover that hard.
I truly agree with you - only a low IQ Engineer could make this happen.
These people are software engineers. The simple mechanics that most car makers get right like automatic rain sensing windshield wipers, Tesla would prefer to overengineer.
SMH. I took mine out immediately. I might have left it in had I had known. Thx man.
doh! I didn't know the second part of usage. Thanks!
Bless you, good sir!
omfg... thanks for sharing this.. I was too lazy to figure it out...
If the tire pressure monitoring system has a low pressure alarm, please replace the sensor in time.
j'ai decouvert ca aujourdhui !
Lol...ive been using my wrong.Cheers for the video.
It's supposed to help reduce noise while driving only reason i keep it in.
The previous three fold design was much better.
Hi, could I ask what’s the height underneath the lowest section of the parcel shelf? Curious what the tallest item that can be in the back without having to take down the shelf? Really hard to find that info online!
Thank you.
It’s junk, I can’t believe this is the best Tesla could come up with.
Needs to be a roll up style. I mostly leave it in the garage.
Can this be removed on the model 3?
I removed mine after 10 minutes. it is much better without it.
This is the way
What's the height from the cargo floor to that cargo cover?
Me… almost leave it at home 😆
He Junior we forgot this, this is the budget and material, you design it - we ll fix it later
I hate mine. Took it out
I used to be a big supporter of Tesla... I'm learning to be wiser, from my experience with my Model Y and 3. SMH
No thanks hahaha, I removed that from the car after 2 days, it's virtually useless.
That is not the correct way to use.. use it as a slider.
What does that mean?
I usually just lift it slightly at the back, and just push it in.
It’s probably the most idiotic design ever seen for this solution.
The new one has more folds. This one is just crap.
What new one? I just picked up my new 2023 model Y this week and mine is exactly the same as this video.
@@samgraves9165 in Europe they have one with more folds.
@@samgraves9165 The newest version is 1641293-00-F. I got it recently from Tesla directly.
Yes, I got that part number too for the parcel shelf just yesterday and Frmeont SC did the labor to install it the same day of my appointment.
Only month old video.... but uses a phone from 2003. 😁
Sadly it is pretty rubbish for a premium car..like an afterthought .look how Audi do it on their A4 Avant model!!
Schrott!
It's a piece of crap... Even after figuring out how to use it I took it out and threw it down my basement.
