@@BigYellowSilly I was thinking you could do Makoto- call me out if I'm wrong but I recall Justin Wong saying that she can be a menace against his Chun with that forward dash and command grab
Very nice video. The only thing I would add is how to reset opponents in the corner to setup command grab loop. Light command grab -> crouching medium punch. Heavy command grab -> medium dash punch -> forward medium punch. Light command grab -> SA2 -> Jumping Heavy Punch. After any of those, the opponent will be landing standing and since you will be on the ground before them, you can start a command grab that will be active before the great majority of move the opponent could make. Wash, rinse, repeat. The only way your opponent can get out is by jumping as soon as they land, but if you anticipate the jump you can catch them with slaps (any of them), back medium punch or crouching heavy kick.
Thank you for all the Q coverage. He is, oddly enough the character I fell most in love with for 3rd strike even if I didn't get to play it too much. I love how brutal and forceful his movements are, so its nice to see him getting the love the big guy deserves
You’re my hero, I had been maining Q for a while and it was discouraging to see people disregard him as a character. Low tier characters have their weaknesses, but that makes people forget their strengths too (like Q’s ridiculous health buffs). Thanks for giving Q a second chance, lol
something specific to the match up against Duddley, Yun/Yang and Hugo is that you can use light command grab into light dash punch that will cross under. This can be usefull when you're in the corner. When you do this in the corner you can even follow up with forward medium punch so that they land back on their feet for extra pressure.
BY turning into a regular combo guide creator now lmao Nah but this is super sick. I also love the little moments in the videos like Q's little Q-trum over the whiff at 4:50.
I just started learning Yang thanks to recent 3rd strike content and man is it so FUN. Fightcade has been an awesome way to get into this game and the community has been super helpful and open to me as a noob. I highly recommend!!!
I have literally never played Third Strike but I love Q. He's a weird robot guy who shambles around like he's got a short circuit and has some of the most painful-looking attacks in the game. Super 2 is probably the strongest-looking attack there is. Looks like they should just die right away.
YO. Yesterday I spent a few hours with Q, watched your old video and your new videos again, and now I have this, which is what I was looking for yesterday!!Very cool. Thanks!!
I NEED THESE. I tried fightcade online for the first time and got my ass whooped, I really needed a video detailing the combo routes for Oro and Q, glad you're doing these types of videos.
Thank you so much - just started playing again and could not remember the proper double dash-punch technique - I keep finding super basic combos online and finally got what I was looking for.
Fantastic video!!! The thing I struggle with most is double dash combos so this is incredibly helpful. Just as a side note, I'm not sure if it works for all characters, but Q does have a combo off of MK command grab in lp dash punch, into heavy slaps in the corner, its helped me since I can't do double dash quite yet
I was inspired by your last video to find a way to Kara Cancel b.mp into SA3 command grab. It worked, but my actual combo game sucks and the wiki is a bit barebones. Glad to see this, will definitely be practicing these.
So glad to see more q videos from you, your original q video is the reason I play q in third strike (and he's my co main with Dudley (i guess I like using taunts)) and this video is useful as I always drop the command grab combos Keep up the good work
If you do another video like this I’d love to have you talk throughout it, your personality and commentary is so fun to listen to whenever I’m eating or playing games or doing housework
So I have a feeling I should be able to figure why Q has such a bad time against Oro, but I'd definitely love to hear it from you first. Great video, also. Love this breakdown of all of Q's BnBs!
Oro is a very mobile, aerial menace... Q has really... Awkward anti-airs... This, combined with Oro's pressure and Q's extra blockstun and tall hurtbox..... Make this matchup really bad for my boy
This is a very nice video for whoever wants to start using Q and a great resource for them, although I'd add some things like Cl. MK and dash punch being hit confirmable into SA1/2 because of how important it is too, some tips for DDP I may add is using the charge buffering technique which is when you charge, you press the button after holding the stick from forward to back, it helps so the second charge starts the first frame possible, you use that when doing the reverse dash punch too but mixed with charge partition
I mentioned the charge technique in the previous video but I probably should've snuck it in here somewhere too, it really makes this character so much more manageable, thanks for the insight tho 👌
As a urien main, I would love to see some more analytical breakdown of the character as a whole, and how despite having unblockables and the “two tap” potential that he has, he’s still a character outside the top 5.
I don't even play this game, but from the first time I saw Q in Arcades and used him way back in one of those beach side pizzerias with games in open air, he won my heart over. Nice to see Yellow's come around too. :V
tbh, I don't play 3rd strike, I didn't know much of Q besides your video, but that one video here is really super cool and instructive ! It'd be nice to have a video of a fight session of your Q in fightcade though, I bet it'd be super cool to watch ;o
There was a recently unearthed Skillsmith video from 1999 that featured a few combos were Q linked (yes, linked) out of DHA and mp. HSB into SA. II. Have you seen those? I'm trying to figure out exactly how that is possible.
@@BigYellowSilly It wasn't an overhead DHA link, though, and it definitely wasn't a super cancel, either. One thing both combos had in common is that they were done on Q and Hugo while standing with a full stun bar but before the dizzy animation played.
@@pscwplb oh sorry I forget the normal dash punch is called that, if it was on an opponent who was about to be stunned that makes more sense they take extra hitstun
Though I casually love 3rd strike, I don't play enough to warrant watching a combo video for my 5th favorite character. I'll gladly vibe to the background music tho
I know this might not be the video to ask, but have you ever thought of making a video on ibuki, i’ve played her since third strike and i dont see much represntation on her. i know she doesnt have much if any jank and shes a pretty straight forward combo character but its just a suggestion. love the videos and occasionally coming in to lurk in chat
I am surprised to learn both that Double Deadly Combination's hit comes out on frame *2* despite Q being...Q--maybe he *is* secretly Chun-li's dad (just for that one attack)--and that Total Destruction's lunge attack can juggle at all given how bad that super is. "Today I learned" and such, so thanks as usual.
not sure if you're gonna keep doing these, but a vid on oro would be nice, he has a lot of setups with sa2 and some great damage and combo resets with tengu/ex tengu, honestly worthy of a fighting game gold imo
Been getting into 3rd Strike recently. Is there any chance you will cover more characters, like Fighting Game Gold/Garbage type videos. For example, a video on the Twins might be interesting because of how they play and they are characters people who play 5 do not know much about.
I’m glad more people are giving Q a try, his taunt makes him really fun in neutral (and advantage if you use Super 2), plus he’s got a sick design. I’m actually considering playing him over Dudley because I find him that fun.
correct me if i'm wrong but the "Lk cmnd grab into SA2" doesn't really works on Alex. other than him, it works fine with the rest of the cast. thanks for the vid, greetings.
If you're trying to land one after the first dash punch the trick is to do charge back > forward > back > punch instead of just hitting punch when you hit forward, that way you're charging the second punch as soon as possible. Even with that the timing can be tight but it should help
Q SA3 may be terrible but there's just something funny about the screen going black and just having an explosion happen when it connects; it feels like an incomplete move because of that. Still doesn't make it worth using at all though unless you're trying to show off by intentionally picking one of the worst super arts and can win with it.
Q had a redemption arc in the Big Yellow saga. Went from Fighting Game Garbage to getting a whole BnB combo guide.
Whent from Garbage, to essentially a Fighting Game Glance with his 2nd video, and the combo guide.
I'd love to see you do more of these videos on 3rd Strike, it'd be a great way to ease people in who may feel overwhelmed about getting into it
It'd be nice to have but honestly idk who else I could do, I also play Urien but there's so much to that char I wouldn't know where to start lmao
@@BigYellowSilly I was thinking you could do Makoto- call me out if I'm wrong but I recall Justin Wong saying that she can be a menace against his Chun with that forward dash and command grab

This is part of why I now also main 12... That matchup is even weirder now

turned my Q knickknacks playlist back into having videos in the single digits
Man made a combo guide that’s ten minutes long for a character you could have just said “he doesn’t have combos”. Respect the love for the community.
I like how this man went from putting Q in "fighting game garbage" but nowadays he just fell in love with Q's moveset
The two certainly aren't mutually exclusive.
