In today's video I (Elin) show you one of my most recent (AND SO FUN!) upcycling projects. I used some left-over threads as my inspiration and starting point, whereafter the rest of the design was created intuitively. I didn't prepare any sketch or design on the jeans in advance, but rather enjoyed the freedom of free hand stitching.
To embroider your pocket is a perfect way to experiment with both style, colours and stitch techniques. It's easy to cut up your threads if you make a mistake or a figure that you don't like (or if you by accident stitch the pocket together).

I’m 67 years old and I was doing this to my jeans when I was 15 years old. I just started to sldo this again and I’m going to be selling them. Thank you for reminding me about something that you still love so much.

This is so nice to to watch and very helpful and inspiring for what I want to do. Did you use a stabilizer? Or would you recommend that if I did this on the leg part of a pair of jeans rather than the pocket?
I’ve been working on some embroidery on the leg of my jeans! I haven’t felt the need for any stabilizer, but I have found a hoop to be useful!

The paper serves as a blocker so that I don't stitch the pocket together and thereby not being able to use it :)

Yes a little but the pocket is not so stretchy :)

So it looks like she only used 3 strands? Or do my eyes deceive me? I used two or 3 in the 70's when I used to do this, but am noticing people using all 6....any ideas my fellow hand embroidery people?
My mother taught me to embroider and she used 3 so that is what I go by still.
