It's became a light hearted joke, that my male friends now always ask "but does it have pockets?" Whenever I'm wearing a vintage inspired skirt. They have been well informed of the struggle 🤣 and they find it entertaining when I can't help the excitement if I show them it does 😂. Everything needs a good pocket. (A bit random but it brings me joy that 90% of your skirts have pockets haha) Also your style is 👌🏻👌🏻
just a random thought that occurred to me lol, but do older people who were young in the 40s/50s ever approach you when you're wearing vintage inspired outfits? I've always wondered if they're endeared by it and try to strike up a conversation with you hehe
I know I'm not who this was intended for, but I've definitely had lovely older ladies talk to me about my saddle shoes when I wear them! It's usually along the lines of "I had a pair of those in high school! Are they coming back in style?"
I bet they do. I have older people talk to me about my vintage outfits all the time and I always have older gentlemen ask me to dance at swing dances and sockhops because I remind them of the "good days".
You know what I like the most about your vintage try on hauls ? Seeing another "busty" woman wearing beautiful vintage clothes ! It give me so much hope and make me feel more confident about my style !
So i work oktoberfest every year and my family is polish (yet we're part of the german club?) ANYWAY- a little tip. etsy vintage stores in Latvia are a great way to find vintage dirndls. you can filter results using the "store location function" and instead of using the word "dirndl" you can also search for bavarian or trachten clothinch, blouse, dress ect. I found an amazing vintage embroidered suade jacket for my sister that way (for under $30- because convertion rates) but if you want more german village girl vibes hopes this helps!
RACHEL!! Your conten5 quality has gone up so much and I watch every video of yours now that you have all the time and energy to dedicate to UA-cam, love you keep being wonderful!♡♡♡
Evie is my inspiration, too!!!! The clothes I have that are Evelyn Carnahan - esque are my favorite outfits! Brown flared A-line skirt + striped collar shirt + thin scarf/or fitted vest = 👌 I love seeing how you incorporate her inspiration with your vintage/thrift hauls. It really lights my happy heart up inside.
@@annies7 Doesn't Dorothy only wear one outfit? I mean I love a themed lookbook but 'Oz' is one theme that I truly hate. Todrick Hall has killed it for me lol. However, that being said, I'd love to see an even older take on Oz like 1700s (Marie Antoinette meets oz) OR Victorian.
Love how this video comes out right after your last video about Etsy tips and how you were trying so hard not to buy anything! 😂 Always love your style and videos 💕 Literal outfit goalssss.
I totally understand you about taking inspo from movies!! The ultimate outfit for me that I someday want to own is the loose white shirt tucked into high waisted trousers that Howl wears in "Howls moving castle" lol.
That tweed skirt is lovely. And very slimming. It looks fantastic on you! Also I totally relate to the Jane Austen thing. I too like to frolic through meadows and pretend that I'm living in times gone by. I absolutely adore your style. I want it ALL!!!!
Just wanted to say that seeing notifications that you have posted a video makes my heart leap! I adore you, Rachel! Thank you for the fantastic content you consistently put out, vintage, cosplay, makeup tutorial, I love it all!!!! You are such an inspiration!
I've been bingewatching your videos for the past few days, and it makes me want to buy foam rollers and en erray of 1940s clothing (also I may have bought four white collared blouses today and I blame you). Love all your content, and I am so glad I discovered your videos. Much love!
You can never have to many cream an white blouses..I love raking inspiration from the character Shoshanna from the movie Inglorious Bastards..every thing she wears is just primo
Ok the outfit in the old pioneer grandpa blouse was my favorite. I love your pants looks always on point 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 belles village dress was a look that final dress was beautiful.
Totally swooning over all of it. My wardrobe is my going out items, event items, but I very much desire at home in the garden peasent dresses ....and button down anything grab at heart strings
Lol totally understand the Evie thing. Been on the hunt for certain pieces after watching Chocolat with Juliette Binoche. Love the colors for her character Vianne, and also Josephine's clothing transformation through the film.
@Rigel Rae welcome 😁 I’m quite struggling with building one, do you have any tipps? Black and brown don’t look good together, but I love both colours...
Im a newbie here! I just wanted to let you know that youre literally the only person that I let the whole ad play for! I love your content, and Frodo 💛
I just stumbled upon your channel and loved it, you are adorable. I have always loved vintage clothing from the 50's and 60's (I am a child of the 50's) so remember those styles especially well. My mother wore the styles of the 40's, very form fitting and oh so classic . . . ahhh the memories!
Wardrobe transitions (getting rid of old things) take forever! I’m totally inspired to try shopping on Etsy for my next personal reward... (Also checking for ticks immediately after running outside like an Austen character is a New England mood.)
Rachel thanks for the shopping tip! I need to pick a narrow my style to a couple of people and stick to them when shopping. That will make Hubby happy. And maybe me on time....
I love your videos. When you said you often look at character outfits to inspire your own that set off a lightbulb for me. I have been wanting more "Austen-esqe or inspired" outfits recently and have been having trouble finding that kind of thing. But if I just look at the character outfits then I can get colors, styles, cuts, etc and go from there. Simple idea but brilliant. Another great video. Thank you :-)
So many beauties! I love how you take inspirations from characters and make it wearable for everyday. Thanks for sharing all the etsy links too. My favorite shop list is getting longer all the time.
The "Frodo, what are you eating?!" in the bloopers made me laugh. I feel like I'm always saying that to my dog - I'll have just swept and she still somehow finds something to snack on...
YES thank you for the distraction, we are getting a second dog today (in like an hour and a half!) and I'm SO NERVOUS AND FULL OF EXCITEMENT BUT ALSO A TON OF ANXIETY SO THANK YOU I WILL DISTRACT MYSELF WITH THIS VID
That first outfit is KILLER on you! So flattering. Also, your dark blue dress suits your complexion and hair so well. I've loved watching your style evolve over the years.
I watched this video this morning, and then this afternoon I discovered that The Mummy is back on Netflix! Spent the afternoon curled up on the couch with my sweetie, in warm jammies and thick socks, sipping tea, watching one of my favorite movies. Sweetie had only seen it once, but remembered liking it. He said it held up pretty well. And he chuckled at me when I recited Evie's "I am a librarian" speech.
Rachel, I love your style!! It's so refreshing that you know your style so well that you can pick lots of little items that work well together and suit you perfectly! And thank you for the quick tip on using a character or photograph as reference for an outfit, I've never thought of that before, and I struggle with picking items that work well together! Also, treat yo'self!
OH MY GOODNESS THANK YOU I've been trying to find out what a Drindl was cause I friggin love that style of dress but have never known what it's called!! So now I'm searching for my own
7:11 Frodo, why? I missed these. Love your outfits. It's hard finding stuff like that over here (and I can't afford to buy online just yet, haha), so I've been looking at your other videos about making something modern into vintage for inspiration.
What I’ve concluded from this video: I need a straw hat, Rachel loves Evie and that dark blue dress looks like the one Judy Garland wore in a Star is Born! Also everything you wore was so stinkin cute! 😊💙
Gurl, your style is on fiyaaaah! How do you look so good in every single thing you put on? It's so impressive how good you are at combining items to make them fit your style!
Thoughts and Prayers for your wallet and the back of the mailman carrying those Etsy packages
Hahahaha and poor guy being tormented by Frodo as well
Rachel: treat 👏yo👏self👏
Wallet: quietly crying in the background
Always 😂🙏😭
"and then checking for ticks - immediately after..."
UGH. I felt that on a spiritual level. 😧
😂😭😭😭😭
YUPPPPPP RELATABLE
So relatable.

Calipoppi i really want her opinion now! 😂
I know I'm not who this was intended for, but I've definitely had lovely older ladies talk to me about my saddle shoes when I wear them! It's usually along the lines of "I had a pair of those in high school! Are they coming back in style?"
I've always wanted to ask that!!!!!!
I bet they do. I have older people talk to me about my vintage outfits all the time and I always have older gentlemen ask me to dance at swing dances and sockhops because I remind them of the "good days".
I also sort of wonder whether people who grew up in the 40s/50s liked vintage clothing, but like, from the late 19th century/early 20th century.
**nocks on Rachel's door** " Yes, ma'am. I am here for an intervention. I would like to talk to you about white shirts."
NEVAAAAAAAAAAAAR
Speaking of dirndles, you should do a Maria (Sound of Music) inspired lookbookthingy!
Liliana Crouch I second that!!! Those curtain outfits 😍
Liliana Crouch PLEASE
Maria is a style ICONNNN
I ADORE Maria’s outfit she wears to the Von Trapp house. The carpet bag, the tweed skirt, all of it.
Please do! re-mi

Oh my god, RACHEL. That dirndl fits you like it was made for you! So beautiful!! I love every single piece in this haul 😭💙

It IS so amazing!! I'm from the land of dirndl and I am still jealous of that one anyway!

can you PLEASE wear every single one of your white blouses for a video
I'm ready for a 5 hour video all about white shirts.
I second this motion. I'm not even kidding, tell us what's different about them and why you wear one with one outfit and not another...
Just switch to another white shirt for every take 😂
100 layers of white shirts, ha
I definitely wanted to be Evie, growing up! Still kind of do. I never really got away from my obsession with Ancient Egypt!
LOVIN👏THESE👏 LOOKS 👏!!!
And your description of the pioneer Grandpa was literally my grandpa 😂😂
Hahaha amazing
"this shirt isn't the most flattering..."
*Looks amazing in it anyway"
You should do a vintage Dorothy from the wizard of Oz look.
Edit: or a lookbook. Just a suggestion
Lookbook!!!
Sarah Hill YESSSSS
dorothy from the wizard of oz is vintage. its literally from the 30s
Caligula Longhbottom And? I think it would be neat for her to create outfits from the movie/ do a look book...
I am LOVING the amount of sneaky Frodo. He rocks my small, self centred universe.

Hahaha yup that's why I didn't want to spend any more money on clothes 😂 Already bought my fair share 😭🙏
I'm starting to think you're the reason why I'm having such a hard time finding white/cream vintage blouses.
You're my style icon
Heehehee ahh ❤️❤️❤️

Evie is a good style inspirational choice. Timeless, classic, and sophisticated.
Love love love the blue dirndl!

One day could you do a Judy garland meet me in st Louis inspired look? I think it would look so cute 💕💕
That tweed skirt is lovely. And very slimming. It looks fantastic on you!
Also I totally relate to the Jane Austen thing. I too like to frolic through meadows and pretend that I'm living in times gone by.

The second white top with the pale skirt looked like the summer outfits from Meet Me In St. Louis 😍 So cute!

Lol totally understand the Evie thing. Been on the hunt for certain pieces after watching Chocolat with Juliette Binoche. Love the colors for her character Vianne, and also Josephine's clothing transformation through the film.
Hi Rachel,
How about a vintage capsule wardrobe with only a few items that can mix and match with everything else 😍 would be 🔥
Love you 💕
Audrey. Hepburn I was going to request this too but then you did so thanks! :)
@Rigel Rae welcome 😁
I’m quite struggling with building one, do you have any tipps?
Black and brown don’t look good together, but I love both colours...
Do you mean, do I have any tips? Or Rachel?
@Rigel Rae I meant you actually, I struggle especially with colours
Gosh yes I would love a vintage capsule wardrobe!!!!
I’m obsessed with those bangs

all this time when she said ‘what would evie wear’ thought she meant Eevee from Pokémon this makes so much more sense

Didn’t know how much I needed a dirndl until now.
