- It's Alive with Brad Leone is back for episode 84 and the first entry in a special 4-part series from Brad's own backyard. This week he's firing up the grill for burger time and bubba - you'd better believe Brad’s got his own blend to bring to the banquet. That was a lot of B-words. I thought Hunzi left Bon Appetit last year? but I noticed that it is back to the good times with the great editing.

Could be wrong but I believe I’ve heard that Hunzi was always editing It’s Alive and that he’s just freelancing now. In other words he never “left” in the sense that he’s always edited Brad’s videos.
Brad is single handedly keeping BA's channel alive. Just look at every other video that he's not in and what kinda views.....

@@korndud Vinny moved on to other video projects before the big changes at Bon Appetit. I doubt he was fired unless you have a source that I don’t know about. He worked with Andrew Rea (aka Babish) for some time, and is currently working with Claire Saffitz on her channel.

To his defense, there was no real sauce on the burger, so the buns don't get that soggy, but still, I agree 100%.

Pretty sure he was just keeping it simple since he was outdoors using a smoker to cook the meat, so the only other option was to smoke the bread. Not certain if smoked bread would be better than a plain bun.

@@chrism45 It's not even cheese! Here in Europe it has to be labelled as "cheese style slices" or "cheesy singles", because that stuff doesn't meet the legal definition of cheese. It's an insult to thousands of years of cheese making traditions. I still can't eat a burger without it, though.

@@laughingalltheway8399 I suspect a major reason to not leave is all the headaches that come with it. As he would have to manage the business side with arranging for the people for filming and working out any brand deals. All things that it doesn't seem that Brad would want to deal with and by sticking with BA he doesn't. All he needs to do is show, cook and be himself.
@@nanoflower1 Well, before the whole BA mess, he was the kitchen manager there (if I'm not mistaken), so that wasn't all he had to do. I'm not sure if he's still doing that, though.
@@colina1330 He isn't doing that any more since he started doing his own shows. Gabby took that job over but now that she's gone they will have to hire someone new to manage the kitchen when/if they get everyone back together.
I love Bon Appetit. I try not to pick favourites, but Brad is my personal favourite presenter on this channel. He brings such a great energy!

Not sure about the miso, and Kim chi in there… but who knows I’ve never tried it. Gotta give points again to Brad for bringing venison into the mix. I really appreciate a voice of reason in the culinary world showing and discussing wild game as a positive. It really is better than anything you will ever be able to buy in a store. Like he said, the traceability, and accountability of procuring, or knowing when/where/how you food was procured is for sure a comforting, and rewarding feeling. Taste is off the charts compared to your average supermarket ground chuck as well. Along with the grinder parts… throwing the meat in the freezer for a bit is beneficial as well.

Ramps, we call them wild leeks in northern Michigan. They only grow in the spring and the bulbs are incredibly flavorful, never ate the leaves before but I will now!

I'm an ornithologist. Based on the one call we heard, I think Pete is a European Starling. Fun fact about them: they're invasive, they're native to Eurasia but were introduced into the US by a guy who loved Shakespeare so much that he wanted to bring every bird mentioned in ol' Willie's plays to America. Most just died, but starlings and House Sparrows (they're the ones you see in parking lots) were *really* successful. A little too successful, if you ask our native species that are being displaced, but they're fine by me tbh. I'd love to hear more about Pete the bird, Brad!

I have white miso, kimchi juice, cumin, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Yes to no American cheese, I don’t have a meat grinder, but I’ll go to a butcher and see what he has that’s fresh and I’m making these babies with pickles and pickled red onion. I will have to add a slice of tomato and toast my bread though, maybe spread a bit of mustard on it. Love Brad’s energy and the editing as always.
