I think the thing that amazes me the most about the Fray is the fact that they sound exactly the same whether you're listening to them live or recorded. That is really a sign of true talent.
@AJTT09 it's called an ebow. It causes the string to vibrate without picking it. It kinda gives the same effect as a violinist pulling a bow along the strings of a violin. It allows the guitar to have a long smooth sustained sound.
The Fray our true musicians, no auto tune no voice modulation or any other crap. Pure talent, hence their live songs are just as good as the album versions. Love them!!
I love how they don't use auto tune or anything. And also he sings amazing live, its not EXACTLY like the album which is awesome, cause he changes things..... I've listened to this atleast 500 times.
I am back listening to this song, April 15, 2021. I remember when they perform this song for Pope Francis in Philadelphia. Life is precious and suicide is not the answer. 😞
@1purplellama It is called an Ebow, it sends magnetic force towards the string to make it vibrate and generate a steady smooth sound:) It is really fun to play around with.
@1purplellama its a guitar slide that replicates the sound of strings (eg violins etc) this is because in the recording of the song there is violins that play a huge part to the song so thats the point of what this guitarist is doing :)
@Thatdudewithcoke i think theres no "excitement" because its an AOL session if you notice the logo at the bottom right, they are just performing in a studio room, not in front of a crowd. just check out some more performances from AOL sessions
OMG the fray war in HAMBURG??? wie hammer geil is das denn!! nur blöd dass ich nicht in in hamburg war:( vllt kommen sie ja nächstes jahr nochmal war SUPER :)
how, seriously, im honest, how can you rate a most human song like this rate down? i don't understand....... Ive lost a friend and i ... i can't stay untouched when i listen to this song.
they played this song almost every time they had a character close to the cast die. For instance, when Dr. Cox's patient that needs an organ donation gets the infected organ from the girl that died from rabies they play this in the background while he hits the dead body with jumper cables frantically. It was, for a while, the song that people thought about when they heard "scrubs"
you can actually see after a few seconds that they skip a part, almost like lag. thats when the video came out of sync with the sound. you can see that if you look at the drums right after the cut. awesome song btw!
Nicht den Tod sollte man fürchten, sondern dass man nie beginnen wird, zu leben . Am Ende gilt doch nur, was wir getan und gelebt - und nicht, was wir ersehnt haben. :)
I like Joe and Isaac in blue... They're cuuute. XD (I'm not a silly chick. XD) When my father died in 2004 I thought, he will be never back... Well.. He won't be back. But in this song, I remember those nights when I was 6-7 and my father was sleeping next to me on my huuuge Teddy (it was bigger than 150cm :O) and when I first heard the song and the night after that day I was listening to it in my bed on 'Mp4' player... Than I turned around, and my father was sleeping next to me... I am 15 now.
i think it's an ebow or whatever it's called. It sends magnetic field thingys to the magnetic part of the pickups and makes your guitar sound like a violin or whatever you want. look it up at musicians friend or guitar center. but um...yeah. hope that helped 8D
@1patnick1 I think that thing is called an eBow...I think Jimmy Page used to use one...I think it sends out an electric signal that the pickup senses...
There's something with his voice that touches me deeply everytime.
I think the thing that amazes me the most about the Fray is the fact that they sound exactly the same whether you're listening to them live or recorded. That is really a sign of true talent.
The harmonies done by the band mates near the end of this send shivers up my spine. They are pure gold.
One of my favorite songs to play on the piano.
I simply adore not only the quality of the live, but the video itself being quite a YT relic by now
Loved this when it came out, love it today ❤

I am back listening to this song, April 15, 2021. I remember when they perform this song for Pope Francis in Philadelphia. Life is precious and suicide is not the answer. 😞
Really love this song!
Suicide doesn't end the chances of life getting worse, it eliminates the possibility of it ever getting any better.
@1purplellama It is called an Ebow, it sends magnetic force towards the string to make it vibrate and generate a steady smooth sound:) It is really fun to play around with.

this song is the best in the world
@coreyandjack123 he is using an Ebow. It is to try to replicate the sound of a violin
they played this song almost every time they had a character close to the cast die. you can actually see after a few seconds that they skip a part, almost like lag. thats when the video came out of sync with the sound. you can see that if you look at the drums right after the cut. awesome song btw!
@neckro16 nahhmann I meant right hand, the electric looking instrument that sustains the note? I dunno :P
Why do I discover tears running on my cheeks every time I listen to this (amazing) song?
@ele90 really I had no idea that was what it was, thanks for the info.

Does anyone knows the video where they performed this song and Isaac along with the piano was lifted off the ground ?
I was waiting for the end with the drums.
Ich Kriege immer fast das heulen
this song is reminds my past....
i think it's an ebow or whatever it's called. It sends magnetic field thingys to the magnetic part of the pickups and makes your guitar sound like a violin or whatever you want. look it up at musicians friend or guitar center. but um...yeah. hope that helped 8D
i know its different but live is also different
@Acrasiamelbourne It's called an E-Bow.
@1patnick1 I think that thing is called an eBow...I think Jimmy Page used to use one...I think it sends out an electric signal that the pickup senses...
