Something that keeps the feeling alive of this song (besides how just plain amazing it already is) is that I have felt this way about a girl since high school. The first verse is exactly how I feel about her, till this day. I never had the courage to really go for it, and I would find out years later, that she didn’t have the courage to pursue me either. Some songs go stale when you associate them with past lovers, but not this one, at least not for me.
The fact that he still sounds pretty much the same means that he's a real singer! I've loved The Fray since 2007. Bought their first CD "How to Save A Life" in 2008 and it's one of my personal top 10 CD's I own. Just so many good songs on that simple first album they made. :)
