Lyrics:
I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

+Wampo683 wow, this message brought a tear to my eye
CRAP!! IF only my username was dog and say "deez Nuts"
***** you're awesome Patrick
+La Laura This is nice clean music. It upsets me the garbage we have today...smh. Seems like everything is about sex, drinking, getting high, etc. Simply convincing people to do destructive behavior.
+La Laura Just what I was thinking! I live in another house, i go to another school, I've fallen in and out of love, my sister moved out, my dad changed jobs, i'm in college now, I' ve lost loved ones... god I even have another dog...
Commenting on this masterpiece of a song so that each time it is liked I can come back and hear it again. I never want to forget this song.
Just liked, enjoy another listen!
its been a year, now come back and listen to this master piece! cheers!!!
reminder to hear this masterpiece
Adding a comment and a like as well... enjoy the relisten. Just watched the Hard rock episode of this band, and I'm not sure what to think of them without Isaac on the keys and mic here. But, wish both parties well in future endeavors.
this is up there with beethoven and kurt cobain
The Fray helped me through so many of my dark days accompanied by darker thoughts. I always come back to this beautiful classic.
It's a gorgeous song. Underappreciated, I think. I don't know you but I'm glad you have it.
Same. This specific song for me.

@@Njennings42 take care
Lol. Drunk, and rejected. I fell back to The Fray, Augustana, Lifehouse, Goo Goo Dolls, and Hoobastank. God, I'm old.
The Grammys died the day this song lost to "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas for best pop single.
w r Tell me about it, this song is catchy and yet still actually has a deeper meaning when you listen to the lyrics
w r this is a meaningful and relatable song. Reminds me of my ex girlfriend in some ways and the unhealthy friendships I had as a kind. Not a good connotation but I’ve always appreciated meaningful music over the kind of drivel that people blast driving down the street today
w r I had no idea that it lost. WTF there song is crap!
Grammy 2007. Shame.
My Humps was dope. But I don't watch award shows for that reason. RDR2 should have won goty over GOW but whatever.
I have a feeling that we didn't give this song the credit it deserved when it was released... Was a success, but i think that deserved even more
🙂🤪
I agree
This song is profound and people who laugh at it (like the other comment) I hope they never know how hard life can be. Because life is HARD.
I know I did... Cuz when this came out, my best friend died in a car crash leaving my house, not long after this song came out. She was 22 (going to be 23) 😔 RIP Brittany 🙏
I 100% agree. When I was a kid, I wasn’t a fan. But now that I’m nearing 30, I can’t get enough of this song.
It’s 2024, this song is 18 years old. Where has the time gone? This song hasn’t aged. Wish I could have appreciated those times more.
Me too, I seriously wish I appreciate & enjoyed those times more when I was a kid😪

We're here to keep the old days alive. I wont play anything newer than 2012 at work.
@@emorywolfe8442 You have splendid taste in music my friend👌

The older I get , the better the entire How to Save a Life really gets. The Fray really is under appreciated
How to Save a life, you found me, happiness
those three were on repeat when I first tried and contemplated with the idea of suicide.
I am not scared of pain, I been through the WORST kind of pain someone can imagine.
My only thought was the PAIN other people get, the blow back if I die.
Most people are worried about the pain they might feel during it,
i feel about all the people I might let down.
I agree this is my favorite band and I am in 2020
The fray helped me through some pretty dark times too.
I actually have to broken light bulb from the album cover tattooed on my arm bc of how much they mean to me, and that they’ve been my favorite band so long.
It's one of the very few albums that I can listen all the way through without skipping.

❤😭no words. This comment is so true.
Fact
This. such a short statement
that immediately hits home 🤘🏽
My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life.
Im so sorry for your loss
Im so sorry , May Myles Rest In Peace .
🥀🕊
I’m really sorry man. That’s an unimaginable pain I wouldn’t ever wish on even my worst enemies. Take time to heal and know that he’s looking down at you from above ❤️
TRIGGER WARNING
This hits EXTREMELY hard; I've been suicidal off-and-on for YEARS, with each subsequent attempt bringing me closer to actually dying than the previous one.
Much love to you and your brother. I'm so sorry. There is no easy answer to this.
Now I wanna cry. :(

The craziest about this song is that it lost the Grammy award for best pop vocal performance to "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas #musichistory
Wow 😞
the fray is much better, plus they are great with or without nominations
Mainstream popularity over quality. That's how it's always been and that's how it always will be in the music industry.
whatever music industry says. it will always be the winner for us.
I don't think that's right. this was such a great song. you can't judge a song by popularity.
The Fray really helps the world through some tough times.
the nostalgia hurts. my art teacher in elementary school would always play this type of music, wish i could go back in time and be small again..

+thechoppychapgirl ah thats cool xD
Can we just appreciate how amazing The Fray are? Once they became the complete band they have remained a symbol of what it means to be just a great band. They don't do drugs, they don't party or do anything obscene, yet they have huge tours, make top selling albums, and deliver songs of passion and true emotion. You never see them reported for scandals because they don't get caught in the modern culture of acting crazy and being extravagant. They play, record, and perform. That's it, and they are famous for just that, nothing else. How beautiful is that? How many bands or musicians can truly say they are famous solely because of their music and nothing else at all? I absolutely love The Fray for they are simply amazing.
^^^^^YES^^^^^^
YES! I highly respect them.
Wow I never realized. They were at the right place at the right time though you have to admit.
I've been thinking...we should have a name for fans of the Fray like 'frayble cars' 'frayers' 'fraybies' or something
Thank you for being someone who understands my love for them!!
It's interesting how the songs you used to listen to years ago have a whole different feeling and meaning to you now. You grow up and you relate more. I think that's what good music does.
It was more positive then.

It evolved, like everything else in the universe.
the fray should sue the crap out of chainsmokers, its getting ridiculous, how modern 'good' songs are totally ripping off artists that rarely receive recognition. they should set the precedent.
They already gave them writing credits.
joka619 they had to give the fray writing credits and pay them royalties.

I have a ton of good memories associated with The Fray. They blew up when i was 16. Three of the first girls i kissed this brings me back to. Maddie, Morgan and Megan. Maddie and Megan were ballerinas. My brother, friends and I were wrestlers. We were listening to this at a bonfire in the sticks burning random stuff everyone throwing things in the fire. The next day my brother, friends and I filled 2 suitcases with beer and liquor and took off in my first car, a pontiac grand am to south carolina. We were teenagers so we had to bring alcohol. We stayed in a condo off the beach, partied, swam in the ocean and visited the house of blues at night to dance. I met a girl on the dance floor I spent some time with there that I never seen again. I was dating Maddie and we fell out, she called when I was in SC and told me she loved me. Im still friends with Megan. I love this band. My life at 15-16 felt like one big summer music video for the Fray lol they will always be special to me.

Back when the Fray's first two singles were released, I thought they might end up being the best pop rock band ever. It's a shame they couldn't keep it up, but I can still yell along to Over My Head and How To Save A Life as if the world was ending around me.
Yes , Me As Well. For Some Reason , I Act Like I'm In The Video 😂😂😂
Honestly, even after 10 years they're still my favorite band. Their most recent album isn't bad, you should go ahead and listen to some of those songs. It's really sad though that they aren't getting as much recognition that they truly deserve. It's a shame that this generation isn't into good music like there was in 2005.
Their first two albums, The Fray and How to Save a Life were pretty good imho, and both generated big singles. I didn't like scars and stories too much but I think Helios is a bit better.
+Izzy S I'm 12 and my generation has parents that just do expose them to this kind of music which is kind of sad. But my parents do expose my to good music not just weird pop trash. But don't get me wrong I do like pop

The comparison is that the chainsmokers unknowingly copied this song
Absolute Brain Candy It probably wasn't on purpose, because it's not exactly the same (just very close), and if it's really an issue, The Fray is credited as writers of Closer on ASCAP anyway because the Chainsmokers didn't want a huge legal battle.
I wonder if anyone will see this comment in ten years (2034) and think about how long 2024 was. Time needs to slow down tho seriously 🫤
3:10 🎵Everyone knows I'm in over my head🎵I'm in over my🎵Yeah, I'm in over my🎵Everyone knows I'm in over my head🎵Over my head🎵
Normally I'd say something like "A Day to Remember did it better" but both versions are fucking perfect.
Bradley S RIGHT
your right
+Bradly S so right
+Bradley S I agree but the ADTR version lacks emotion..thats the only diff..but it means alot
+Bradley S nah this version has more emotion to it and matches the feel and gentleness of the song
this is almost 10 years old!!!
Omg
*****
both the song and video were released in 05 idiot.
***** no wonder youre stupid you trust in BR
I came back because every day my mom would play this on the way to preschool xD
10 years later and you can still relate your current life to this song .
THANK YOU THE FRAY. I'M 29 YEARS OLD NOW! THIS IS MY HIGH SCHOOL JAM!

28 here :/ the nostalgia mannnnn
Turning 28 soon mine too!
I wish I could go back to listening to this song with my dad folding laundry in our kitchen. I always struggled with anxiety over the upcoming school week, and he'd play these kind of songs for me and just calm my head instantly. Now I'm 24, living with my husband and child, still soothing myself with this music
almost been 10 damn years

Thank you, The Fray, you literally saved my life. I lost my way and almost quit this life. Your songs made me realize life is worth living.
Exactly me too.
Don't know you but stay here we need you .
I have everything I need and wanted now and a family! I ain't going nowhere. Thank you for the kind comments.
@@shanakasilva3398 I can relate to feeling that way as well. Please don't leave this earth. You are wanted. You are needed. You are loved. I can't imagine the pain you've felt in your life, but if you feel no one cares, I do. And that breaks my heart you've felt that way. You are worth so much. I hope you are okay.
you know what the same thing happened to me. I almost took my life life but their song you found me saved me life. And im glad your still here because god made all of us for a reason and thats what i learned from what i almost did
Day 420 of quarantine:
I’ve currently listened to every song made from 10 years ago to this day.
Herman Evensen ok boomer
not 10 years ago, this song is from 2005.
405 days of quarantine so far!
I love this song and The Fray. But in this music video you have to admit Isaac Slade looks like Tintin. lol
Whos still rocking this banger in 2024?! :)
I'm seeing a lot of recent comments, it's so nice that people are coming back to this song all these years later / discovering it now. Music hits different when you listen to it years and years after its release! This aged like fine wine
Nah. I'm here cause this is a sample of "Chainsmokers - Closer"
And it's kind of sad honestly, since a lot of old music (that aren't major hits) are being ignored by the current generation
I’ve been here since it came out my man
Always nice to come back to the songs you grew up to.🙏🏴

THE FRAY...if you guys are reading this..... I miss y’all....and your music will forever live on!!
They have a new album about to come out and are doing a tour! A must see!
Que nostalgia ouvir essa música
"Suddenly i become part of the past. I'm becoming the part that don't last. I'm losing you and its effortless."
WOW HOW POWERFUL THESE WORDS ARE... SO VERY POWERFUL INDEED! Ugh
Hi please see below
Michelle de la Cerda
The Chainsmokers got the melody for their hit song 'Closer' from this song! skip to 0:56 :D They even gave The Fray credit for it.
christian jason robles youre right!! Omg
They never credited initially.
Maxim chill out its just some seconds.
christian jason robles źxxżmģß
No they didn't. They were accused of plagiarism. Then only they had to give credit
Man I cried tears of joy this is literally my shit... I miss the good ole days where listening to this kind of music was appreciated and brought all types of people together no matter race, gender or orientation we all felt as one listening to these iconic bands of the 2000’s . Side note what are some good bands of today’s time if there are any?
I couldn't relate more
@Stacey O' mar Little Motel is another good one by them.
@UCXaS6wj3kOwKQzqhTyfuTBw I'm listening to it right now, and I actually like it. I think I'll check out more of their music. Thanks for suggesting it :)
@Stacey O' mar Same here. Everybody's Changing by Keane is another good song to listen to
@Stacey O' mar I haven't heard Brazil, but I'll check it out. However, I have heard Tom's Diner, and I like it.
Please protect our children from all evil Lord! ✝️🙏🕊
Fun fact about this song - the boy is the lead singers real brother and he got a PSP to be in the vid
He was in the band but got kicked out and this song is supposedly about that
RedEmbers22 Well, it was Isaac's other brother, Caleb, who got kicked out of the band. The kid in the video is his youngest brother, Micah.
ashawn203 Yeah I thought he looked to young to have been in the band
That's how that kid looks so much like him.
The school is also Isaac's and Joe's old high school.
2000 people have no clue what good music is... These guys are heavily underrated. Love their music!
How is The Fray underrated? They literally have millions and millions of views across their videos.
why do i feel like im the only one listening to the fray?
ATTENTION: LYRICS TO THIS SONG YOU WELCOME
I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Just say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your ...
And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and it's effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves
And everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in over my head
I'm in over my head
I'm over my...
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

When his voice goes soft and the beat slows down...AAH MY FAVORITE PART!!!!!
Thats the bridge
The songs about the lead singer and his brother who used to be in The Fray and basically the falling out the two had when he left or got cut from the band. "I wish you were a stranger I could disengage" - makes sense about the situation between the brothers. You wanna let go of them but its hard when its your family.
so his brother is a she?
Correct! "Cable Car" was his nickname, as well. I believe his real name is Caleb.
+itis LUCIAN "shes on your mind" the "your" is refering to his brother the "she" is just some chic. to me it sounds like they wete fighting over a girl but idk
+Luke Hemmings every one takes a message of a song a different way
Right on, i read about it on lyric genius haha, for people confused heres the link the song being "deciphered" essentially :)

Idc what anyone says, the early to mid 2000s (2005-2015) was the best.
and suddenly...
I've become part of the past
I'm becoming the part that don't last...
A decade later and she’s still on my mind.
More like 14 years later for me
She will come back eventually, keep the faith
SAME
That's my school! East High School in Denver, Colorado!
Mastergamer9999 really? That’s cool!
Well, the fray is from Denver, so...
Mastergamer9999 much respect to you, my friend
I just looked it up, it's true, it was filmed at where you said
that is awesome
Dang, i was little around the time this song was out. I wish I could go back to the 2000s and be a kid again😢 Life was SO much simpler.
Anyone else thinking about that one person that makes them refresh your mind, and then you remember this song, and come back here to listen to it. Just because of that one person?
This song came out when I was in love with my high school sweetheart, she's a stranger now and found out she's getting married, had to come back and listen to this gem. It takes me back to the best time of my life.
This came out when I was falling in love with a girl, too. We are now married with two kids. So it reminds me of happy times too. I wish it worked out for you. Hope you have found happiness elsewhere.
Remember move on and grow baby
