Your mom has come a long way in the time I have been watching your channel. She's a perfect example of how some people have to warm up to decluttering and you have been patient with her and never forced her to part with something and now, look at her go! She's making her own decluttering decisions and seems very at ease. GO MOM!! And your new shirt is lovely, perfect for your personality. Thanks for sharing today!
“My husband breaks them all, so eventually we will be down to 6 and that will be perfect.” - I laughed so hard at this. In my home it’s me breaking the cups
Your mom trying on the heavy jacket really made me laugh. Yes, one can wear them in Iceland and as an Icelander living in Iceland I have 2 of those (similar ones), LOL! I love the videos with you two.
Your mom is the best! I suggest placing the coffee maker in the corner where the canisters are, and lining the canisters along the back of the counter. Then she'll have working surface next to the stove. Love you two!
Hi Susan. I just read your suggestion and I made the change. It's so crazy that when something is put in place, for some reason, I (or maybe we) just leave it and figure that's where it goes. The coffee maker was hiding an electric plug, but so what! My husband said that you won't even see it after a bit. I don't see any of the other ones. Thank you for the suggestion, we now have all that counter space. Kathy (Shannon's mom)
I can so relate to your mom!!!! I'm only a few years behind her and your videos have helped me declutter stuff and helped me help my mother declutter. My mom told me the other day that she wants to get rid of more stuff and I was shocked because before she resisted getting rid of stuff she hadn't used in many years. She is 81. She is like your mom is now. LOL I'm like your mom now too. I am going back through stuff again for 2nd or 3rd time and realizing I didn't get rid of enough stuff. I'm bad to collect mugs. LOL
It's really fun to see your mother's progress and how decluttering has become much easier for her. About that jacket... come to Canada! I have one very similar and that isn't even my warmest coat. LOL
"I'm keeping the cheap trays!" I love your Mom's approach: Keep what you like & get rid of the rest, regardless of what they cost in either case. I especially enjoy these videos because I'm in a similar stage of life to your Mom, so they're helpful & inspirational. You & your Mom together are always enjoyable (& entertaining!) to watch & to learn from.
Shannon, you and your Mom are wonderful. She got rid of so much this time. I love her new top on her. The living room switch-around was nice. Love your Mom's art. Also, your children are adorable. Cheers
I must say, your videos with mum are my favourites, you two are fabulous together and such fun. I always feel encouraged and motivated after watching,I have been decluttering now for a year and I always feel energised once i let go of useless stuff,I actually find myself walking around my house looking for things to let go of. My life is so much simpler now,so thankyou very much for the inspiration.
Love the bloopers!! The fact that your mom is in a decluttering mood, encourages me so much. I started helping my mother with her house as she is trying to move into a home. but she is in the just get rid of it all mood!!! 🙃 I am also working on my home using the Swedish death cleaning/Kon Marie combine, our house is in progress and I am enjoying it as I did this video!!
Your mom has come such a long way! It’s great to see that she’s enjoying the benefits of letting go of the stuff that isn’t useful any more. About the shoes - I don’t want to wear high heels and truth is I never have to, so why keep them? Better someone else enjoys them.
We lived in Wisconsin for four years and the winters are very long and very cold with lots of snow! Your mom could wear that parka there! 🥶❄️☃️She definitely does not need that coat in California😂 Nice job decluttering!
Once again you two have inspired me! This time it was to load my car with already decluttered items and drive straight to the donation center. Thanks so much for keeping me on my journey to live with less.
This was truly so much FUN! Super job on decluttering and moving items around for a fresh look and feel. Halfway through this video I jumped up and went running around the house decluttering and moving some items that I have been thinking about for quite a while. See what kind of influence you have on me? lol.
Hey Shannon omg your mom is so funny, love your videos. so proud of how she is decluttering now. I did the same thing and now it's so easy for me to just get rid of stuff I don't need. 😊
I just sold 12 trays on Marketplace. I keep the stuff that I use regularly in the cupboards/drawers and box up the rest. If I don't go to retrieve the boxed items in a month or two, I donate it. It's helped me tremendously. Awe, love when you help your Mom🌷 Adorable doesn't fall far from the tree.
I love the videos with you and your mom. My mom is 75 now and we still have conversations like this! She is VERY ATTACHED to her things and stuff. She wants to get rid of things but it’s so hard to start.
Such a fun video with mum n the boys. Mum is so hilarious n fun to watch. She has such a beautiful smile n personality. Now Levi is part of the decluttering. He is so cute n grown so much. Thank u for sharing .
What a great video. I am so glad she hit the spot of I don't wear it. Great job 👏 I reset My bedroom but I decided to remove 2 dressers and replaced with a family one we are keeping . Having space feels so much better than having the stuff.
I believe here in Greece all houses have so many bed sheets, at least three times more than we would ever need. That's what i'm going to declutter today! P.S. Seeing your mom is always a treat, she's so funny!
Go mom!! I have that same Costco recliner 😊 I keep trying to get my mom to declutter, but she wants to keep everything. Hopefully she comes around one day too!
Love the dynamics of you two, so fun. The puffy coat made me laugh. I’m in Canada and I have several winter coats for different conditions. I use them all and all year because I am near the mountains and we can have all seasons in one day…..but they sure take up a lot of closet space!
Hands down...my most favorite video of you with your mom Shannon, yet. Please forgive me, "Shannon's mom" for forgetting your name, again ((sigh)). But I love you both... You remind me of the fun my mom and I have ❤️ together. This was so real and relatable. It perfectly demonstrates how decluttering is like peeling away the layers of an onion. They just naturally come away as your decluttering muscles become stronger and then you ask yourself, "why did I think keeping this was a good idea?!... it was so much more work!" ( as in the coffee drawer example. Before becoming minimalist, I used to actually be persuaded into buying things when they came with neat little accessories such as that coffee drawer. Now, I can see completely through the sales gimmicks, and you can't get that passed me! I laughed at the bulky coat issues and the reference to the white blouses because I tended to have both of those things and now, they are gone! Even in Southwest Missouri it can get cold but I find that bulky coats are just a hassle. I hope you get so many views on this because I think it will help thousands of people! Real-life, relatable and fun....it's a common-sense, minimalist mindset....with 🙌 success in progress! Hugs your way!
Great job! I had a similar drawer for my K-cups on the counter. After I decluttered my kitchen cabinets & drawers. I was able to make one of my kitchen drawers full of K-cups, hot cocoa packets, etc below the Keurig machine. I purchased dividers to keep it neat and orderly. I donated the drawer with other kitchen items. What a great feeling! Plus, my husband and son have been keeping it neat and replace as needed.
You guys are hilarious and beautiful and so encouraging! If you mom cand change habits and patterns she's been holdin on to for decades, ot makes me feel like I can do it too. Thanknyou so much for sharing a bit of her with us!
I love your mom! I love the videos with her because she is so real and so funny! Honestly....these bloopers!!!! I'm dying of laughter! Please please tell your mom that she brings a breath of fresh air to UA-cam, which is often videos of youthful, "perfect" minimalists - whereas, she reminds me of my auntie and that generation is typically not open to decluttering, so thank you for being so real!
You two crack me up! I love you guys. With me and my daughter our roles are reversed ( I'm the one encouraging her to declutter) opposite of your situation. Thanks for your videos, truly enjoyed watching.
Again, so can relate. I wonder if being older makes it more difficult to part with things. So many years of memories and what ifs. I enjoy you and your Mom together. She is very entertaining.
Oh my goodness Shannon, I say it every time your mum is just hilarious!!! And she makes some very good points about decluttering too!!! Absolutely brilliant xx

This was motivating, love seeing your mom and how much progress she’s made! Love the idea of switching up a room with things you already own, think I’m going to try that!
Love the "mom" videos.
You should do one a month, she's such a hoot!
Your mom is a you tube star. I love all of the videos of you two.
Thank you Katie!

I love it when you get together with your mom. Your mom is so fun and so pretty.
At 67 and having recently got into decluttering, I can so relate to these vids.
“My husband breaks them all, so eventually we will be down to 6 and that will be perfect.” - I laughed so hard at this.
In my home it’s me breaking the cups
Very engaging mother-and-daughter tandem ❤️❤️❤️
Hey ladies, I applaud your mom for decluttering and I can tell it's getting easier for her. Congratulations to your mom for her break through!!
Declutterring mode really is a thing! Love it! You’ve helped me get the ball rolling ❤

You could go to northern Minnesota in January!! Or February!! Lol in those jackets
The living room refresh is lovely and your Julia Child in the kitchen blooper at the end was hilarious! 😆😆
Your mom trying on the heavy jacket really made me laugh. Yes, one can wear them in Iceland and as an Icelander living in Iceland I have 2 of those (similar ones), LOL! I love the videos with you two.

Your mom has come such a long way! I’m so happy for her - she looks so thrilled to show off her rooms now that they’re organized and decluttered!
We wear those parkas here in NYC, 😂. It’s feels like 32 degrees today with the wind chill.
You and your mom are so cute. Love the blue striped shirt your mom is wearing. Great decluttering ladies.
My daughter and I have a relationship similar to you two. Only I'm leading her into the decluttering world. Smiles...
Love seeing you declutter with your Mom❤

New subscriber and I have been binging on your "older videos"
I have a comment about the practice of "" saving your best for later""
I had my midlife crisis about age 25 which is kind of scary but I passed 50 so I I'm good
One day I just said to myself ""why am I saving my best dress and my best table linens and my China for later? I'm saving my best for last and the last is going to be I'm going to be buried in this best dress and they're going to use my table linens and my fine trying to during my funeral wake!?!"m
So I wore my best dress and invited my goddaughter's over to my house with their mothers
And we ate spaghetti and meatballs and drink sparkling apple cider off my desk table and in China and glassware. The mother said to me that I was crazy because all these little girls were under the age of seven
And so I told those worried mother's, " what am I saving my best for if not to use on my loved ones NOW? And how are these little girls going to learn to eat off of fine China and find linens and drink out a pretty glasses if not NOW?"
We had a blast, the girls still talk about it 25 years later, even remarking to me last year... two of them said you trusted us with your good stuff and it made us feel special
So...tell your mama to use that good, real silver platter now! Don't save it for some future date, let her loved ones and grandkids use the good stuff during the good times NOW
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thank you SO much for sharing this story! It actually brings tears to my eyes because we all seem to get into the habit of saving the "good" things for a "special" time. The special time is now! Thank you for this reminder and I hope you have a wonderful holiday =)
I love you and your Mom together!!
I am so proud of your Mom and the progress she has made to live and think more minimal. It truly is so freeing!
As far as the heavy winter coat you would need that if you came to visit me in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We live in that stuff for many months!☃️
Love your beautiful young family Shannon. Take care.
I. Love. Your. Mom!❤️ I've been watching through her decluttering journey!👀 I'm loving the refresh! It's such a wonderful way to enjoy the space you have in a different & free way!🤗
Thank you so much!!
Great declutter! Room looks fabulous🌺
This was motivating, love seeing your mom and how much progress she’s made! Love the idea of switching up a room with things you already own, think I’m going to try that!
I always enjoy the videos when your mum is in them. You both have so much fun. Love the drawings on you sons. You are both very talented.
