I've just binged the entire series of George's podcast. Absolutely brilliant. On brand - informative and accessible. (Great co-host) open.spotify.com/show/1VurE9sEHxs7IBQyi42r5Z?si=6mruVew0R3K15Qso6rE8AA
Just found a local fish store in the United States here in NJ that carries the entire Tropica (or so they say) line and I was able to get our entire aquarium set up this past weekend! I am broke now but I’m happy! 😉
Fantastic scape and I too absolutely love the colour rendition. I have to say though, 45 watts doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re not getting high light here, the usual rules that determine low, medium and high become blurred when it comes to fancy LEDs. I’d be really interested to know par levels at the substrate level, lumens and what spectrum is being produced. Love, love that light! Cheers George
think this would be more naturalistic if the creater was able to hide the glassware behind the left background plants, but other than that, amazing use of plants and mosses!
Thank you, George, for this nice video. Nice to see different ideas. Hope you are all keeping well in the UK. I have my rocks and wood for my 110 gallon tank and am anxiously awaiting it. Then I will build the cabinet which will be custom since I want to have doors in front and a little side cabinet on the end. The scape will be a concave/triangular style with a sand path up the middle, sloping back to front, and mostly South American plants and fish. Do you know any good SA epiphytes for the wood? I have seen Staurogyne repens but might try some kind of bucephelandra.
Wow thats looks a lot better than i imagined , i am debating rummy nose in my 900 now with cherries 😅. Quick questiom how to you stop the inlet from bobbing up and down i have tried injecting air under it and its fully open at bottom to allow max flow but bobs up and down. Looks great anyway 👍
Really lovely, triangular arrangements do look good, and they leave adequate open swimming area, and like island arrangements make maintenance a little easier, is this hard water or soft? You mentioned a rear light George - details? Cherry shrimps are a good option but without adequate predators the tank can look like a plague has descended - I speak from personal experience. Adult Tiger Barbs do a good job eating the juveniles. 45 Watts is at least half the lighting wattage I would have used, but then I have very hard water, and a try to grow (with mixed success) a range of light demanding 'advanced' plants, hard water, I think/have read, means the plants are more energy demanding. It is easy to wash and reuse sand - save money and reduce your environmental footprint please. Thanks as always George, very interesting and beautiful.
Here in the U.S, we really do not have a good place to buy the plants and other things. Not like in Japan or in UK. If I had the way to get those stuff, I can make good looking aquarium too.
Scape, arrangement, layout together with filtration, lighting and hardscape materials are 75% of the work. You can do a great aquascape with common available plants.
I feel your pain! But like others have said, practice with the hardscape you CAN find and be sure to hoard good pieces! You have to keep your eyes peeled, though. Online sellers are a good option too, though they often sell out - this is where snatching plants when you can find them comes in. I've never seen hygrophila pinnatifolia (sp?) for sale anywhere, but I'd be willing to bet that I could find some via FB plant groups or local plant clubs. It's the thrill of the hunt!
George and Dave, can you explain how to keep the BBA off the slow growing epiphytic plants? I've been running this style(bottomless) for a while now, and have BBA creeping up everywhere. is it all about water changes? oh and how to buffer and stabilize the "...#@**#".... Ph?
Nice scape George. I believe the Pinas are red due to N limitation though, not high lighting. I don’t believe that the light used here is “high light”.
hi George, nice scape! I have a question about fish stocking, in an aquarium shop I would advise against the redhead tetra. since this strong light would not be tolerated and would therefore be on the floor now I see in this scape but which one how does it work? Greetings Patrick
@George Farmer, what do you think is a good concentration of Potasium and Nitrogen in the water column for Echinodorus and Anubias faster and stronger growth?

@@natenash5693 if you go to the tropica home site, there should be a list of stockists.

That red Bucephalandra is blowing my mind. I have some in my aquarium but they don't look anything like that. Amazing, good work!

Clicked so early my plants aren't even rooted yet.

Which filter would you suggest for a 6 x 2 x 2 feet similar planted tank ????
